  1. Yeah, always happens every year.

I swear there was a point when Grohl was singing My Hero when he went to sing Taylor, and for a split second sang T, before carrying on  the song as normal. That got me bad.

Cat Stevens with Father and Son got me too as I couldn't help but think of my dad who is suffering from dementia.

Isn't music the great reminder of things past, present and future? It hurts, it makes you smile, it reinforces that life is fleeting.

  2. Well that was a pleasant update to wake up to.

Echoing all the other people on this thread, thanks to everyone who has made this years Weather Thread amazing and a big thanks to bridjj.

Pack away the wellies but don't forget your dancing shoes 🥰

See you all in a few hours everyone

Also, rigger boots are deadly for twisting your ankle. They are banned where I work unless you’re a welder.

Rigger boots are known (by my mates at least) as w*nker boots. No idea why, but I will never wear them because of this. The few people I know who own them swear by them though.

I realise this is completely unhelpful with regards to them being good or bad.

I can say that the 'light showers' that have been forecast for Bristol have been torrential at times today and are still ongoing.

Maceo's and the Park bar are going to be there  although I rather suspect that like previous years access to the Park bar will need the park wristband as well as your crew wristband as The Park bar is crew and backstage not just crew

    I love Maceos.

It's an oasis of calm in the middle of the madness of Block 9

I think his voice will be fine if there isnt an active tour around the festival. If he is playing in norway or something a couple days prior, I would have concerns. If he only has those paris dates and then nothing else, he’ll be fine. I mean, i probably shot myself in the foot and he is going to announce a europe tour tomorrow now.

    He Norwegian Woodn't surely?

  6. I saw Banksy this year backstage at Silver Hayes.

I am actually being serious as well as I kinda knew him as a kid growing up in Bristol. Cheeky sod had a Dismaland t-shirt on too.

  7. If out in an open air stage like Pyramid/Other they're not too bad but in a tent á la John Peel for Gerry Cinnamon this year they just stink the tent out and cause issues for anyone with asthma etc as the smoke has nowhere to go.

Let's face it, if people can't smoke a cigarette in a tent why on earth should a flare be deemed as acceptable? It's pretty selfish IMO and just screams 'look at me, I'm super cool'. No you're not, you are coming across as a selfish w*nker.

Most people come to watch the acts, not look at coloured smoke that is making people choke.

What I want really is something incorporating elements of the Glade and West Holts.

Then give Shindig a try. Small but very friendly and it's in a beautiful setting not too far from the Glastonbury site.

Last year had the likes of Dub Pistols, Audio Bullys, Ozmatali etc and have seen Soul2soul, Andy P and Sugarhill Gang there in the past.

Being able to leave your tent and be anywhere on site in 10mins is a wondrous thing.

Plenty of DJ's and live acts and Father Funks church is great fun.

Been the last 3 years but unfortunately can't make it next year as some extremely selfish friends have decided to get married that weekend.

I hear ya. I suffer from anxiety and can find Glastonbury incredible and also overwhelming. So yeah, good to know someone's got your back. X

Tbh, and I'm not trying to belittle you or anxiety sufferers in the slightest at all, but even the most hardened, mentally strong people have those overwhelming moments from time to time at Glastonbury.

I know there are times over the years that I've needed a bit of time to myself and so have the majority of people that I've gone with. Theres been a few tears shed more than once over nothing in particular and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

One year, we had someone who had never been before and she was struggling come the Saturday and was worried that she was ruining it for others due to her anxiety. I told her that its completely normal and we've all been through it at Glastonbury at some point so not to worry as we understand what she was going through. She couldn't believe it was a normal thing and cheered right up afterwards.

As has been said above, it's not for everyone, and the pressure of having to have a great time is immense if you're going with veterans who love it and it can be overwhelming.

  10. Bought a Mallets for myself and two others in the Wood bar on the Wednesday. All three of us drank a mouthful, put the cans in the bin and walked off. Never again.

Thatchers will always be better (especially if you can find Dry on tap in a pub).

    Best day along with Thursday

    Amen brother.

The two days before the music are always my favourites. No having to be anywhere at a given time means the whole site is your oyster and you can do or be wherever you want whenever you want.

To me, that is true freedom from the pressures of daily life and is utterly priceless.
