  1. Saw The Joy Formidable at Clapham Grand last night. What should've been an excellent gig ruined by the awful sound. Small venue but it sounded like listening to a band from outside the tent at a festival. Not a venue that gets used for gigs very often and it was obvious why.
  2. I think it's poor form to exploit the performance to promote an item of over priced merchandise
  3. Very minor frustration but The Hive seemed a stage plonked in a completely random location. Felt for any acts playing on there as it never seemed to draw a captive audience - just people wandering past on their way to somewhere else. Is this the first year that stage has been there?
  4. I suspect between his immensely wealthy family and his hugely successful career that Fred is doing OK in the financial department
  5. Loved his set but not a fan of this sort of commercialism off the back of it
  6. They were incredible, only bettered by the little lad down the front going absolutely nuts on his dad's shoulders
  7. It was glorious. Everything about it was perfect (music, weather, crowd).
  8. I got a pasty, chips and beans for £6. Great value for the price. Do agree though that a lot of places had £6 meal deal stickers but seemingly nothing available for that price.
  9. Best - No bones Jones at the West Holts. Honourable mentions to the Lebanese place in The Park and the Peckish Peacock near San Remo. Worst - breakfast burrito from a place near Woodsies. Wasn't awful - just expensive and underwhelming.

    Grit in the eye

Assumed this thread was about walking along the railway track on Sunday afternoon. Like trekking across the Sahara desert when the wind picked up.
  11. It was incredible. I'm a cynic by nature but he seemed so genuinely thrilled to be playing there and to such a massive crowd. Would need to be made of stone not to feel emotional watching him.
  12. 1. Chvrches 2. Fred Again 3. The Last Dinner Party

    Fatboy Slim

He's not a man to experiment. Essentially been playing the same set for 20 years. It's OK if you're into his stuff but once you've seen him once, there's no compelling reason to see him again.
  14. All in favour of this. Camping areas are too congested to be having fires in.
  15. Recommend VLURE. Glasgow electro post-punk. Playing a few times over the weekend.

    The churnups

Graham Coxon has rescheduled a gig he was due to play on the Friday due to "scheduling conflicts". Not exactly confirmation that blur are playing but no obvious other conflict.
  17. Would somewhat defy the point of a secret set if they said otherwise though
  18. Confidence Man surely doing a secret set? Would seem bizarre for them to be on site, at a time when they're playing loads of other festivals, just to do a couple of DJ sets.
  19. Both scorching sunshine and mud make the festival harder work. The difference with the sun is that is starts to disappear by the evening.
  20. I imagine it's also relatively cheap to run so there wouldn't be much of a cost saving if they got rid of it.
  21. I didn't see Deadmau5 when he headlined the other stage. Did he do a full live show?
  22. Agreed. Unless the new tent is 10 times the size of the previous one it'll be ridiculous. Last year you couldn't get within 50 meters of the tent when eats everything started. Shame as that line up is absolutely stellar.

Also confidence man djs. They must be a good shout to turn on a secret set somewhere.
  24. Completely on board with this. The size of rucksacks people have on them as they attempt to force their way down the front for a headliner is mental.

You clearly haven't seen fatboy slim
