Stone cold noob here to Tool as mentioned above. Yea. Ok. Wow.

    TOOL

So weird thing... a ticket has just landed in my lap for tonight. Right down in the the front few rows apparently. I've never really listened to them save for what I am cramming this afternoon (though I have always meant to). Not sure what to expect or what I've got myself into but am very excited.
  3. Came to say this but more specifically when the crowd started singing it in almost in the round - truth was the field is so massive that without someone on stage leading proceedings it falls out of time. Either way it showed how enormous the crowd, field and show was as well as the strength of feeling. I experienced a profound sense of awe in that moment. This was no ordinary show. No one left the field that night the same person they arrived - I'm convinced of it.
  4. Yeo valley frozen yoghurt was always a winner on a hot day. Don't think they were there when I last was in 2016 though. Used to be in the main market area along one of the pyramid side drags iirc. Can anyone confirm they don't go anymore?
  5. Daft Punk 115 (+5)Depeche Mode 100 (-5)Elton John 60Kate Bush 110 Nick Cave 55
  6. They also confirmed they have 12 sets across the weekend and that their sister band Intergalactic Brasstronauts (excellent name) are playing Truth on Thursday.
  7. New York Brass Band have self confirmed on IG associating themselves with Theatre and Circus and this poster. I've scoured the poster and I'm still not sure if they are on it or not but it seems not. Always great fun bumping into them when they go walkabouts. A bit like Beans on Toast I find I need no concerted effort to find them but is an important part of the weekend. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc07ROeMrI_/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Edit: confirmed in a later tweet response they are playing 12 sets (apparently fewer than usual!!!) but that also their sister band intergalactic brasstronauts are playing Truth on Thursday.
  8. @crazyfool1 only deals in OFFICIAL announcements it seems! 😉 And excellent work @VolumetricFox - not an easy to read poster for… anyone tbh. Don’t spend too much time here but may have to swing by a couple of times this year!

    Record Store Day

Thank you for inadvertently answering something I was wondering at about that time as I hurtled underneath towards Rough Trade East. I was wondering what the state of the queues would be like at those two stores. I think you’re right in terms of how much each of them stock. Both excellent stores! Got to Rough Trade around 8:30 and it was about a 2 hour wait (yaaaayyy…). Miraculously got 300% of what I wanted. Got Jon Hopkins and then they still had Frightened Rabbit and while I said no when looking through the lists that I wouldn’t as they were silly expensive. I panicked. Fairly pleased though as recently managed to get Midnight Organ Fight which is damn near impossible to get so a full collection is now feasible. Ms Beaver was shocked to get all she wanted too - Taylor, Blondie and mxmtoon. Successful (if expensive) day all round. With a nice lunch out afterwards and the threat of the team-strip tent (black and fresh) from Decathlon, the credit card is having a sulk 😂

    Record Store Day

Good luck everyone! May tactical queuing and other people's terrible taste let the records fall in your favour. I'm only after one record (as mentioned earlier) but not overly hopeful. As it happens I think once we're done we'll be heading to Decathlon to look at some tents that are rather popular on these boards. Hope they have some set up!

I was there too! Between that, APE last year and that Coachella set he is very well suited to it. If I had to be more specific I think he could do a similar slot as Fatboy Slim had in 2016 and absolutely smash it.
  13. Ah Lionel, you could see the joy through the botox. He genuinely seemed almost overwhelmed and in total disbelief at what he was seeing. Love it when a long-time veteran gets to experience something new like that. It was a great show!

After I posted I realised headlining JP against strong headliners would also fit. Great venue for them too. I've seen the live show twice now. Once at Bestival in the big top after headliners (midnight start iirc followed by Nero) and then again at the Apollo a few years back. Feel like I'm forgetting one though. Orbital after Macca would be perfect. Though isn't there a rumour for a Chems DJ set on Pangea one night? That would also be adequate, thank you. 😉
  15. These two were the background to the Thingy being created in the lead up to 2013. If you think we are going nuts in this thread now (yesterday), it is nothing compared to the pain and insanity experienced then. A full line up drop the week before was pretty brutal and left no time to work out who to see unless you knew them already. Edit: I think we were well north of 500 pages by this equivalent time and wondering if we would hit 1000 for the first time ever before the line up dropped. [insert Wolf of Wall Street meme here]

Assume this is in DJ capacity rather than live. Live would be Other headline level I would think (which by rumours isn't happening). As DJ they could pop up anywhere. I saw them on Arcadia back when it was in the SE Corner so they could do Pangea or IICON maybe? As they are celebrating 30 years I would expect them to pop up somewhere and if its after hours I'll be very likely to be there myself! Given the anniversary and history with the festival: Pyramid sunset slot anyone!? (joking!)

Both of these are likely to be on other stages. I reckon Fred Again for a late afternoon/early evening John Peel slot. Jessie Ware might be similar but could also see her landing a slot on Other. I honestly can't see Fred Again not being there. Not as close to Jessie's Ware-abouts (couldn't help myself) but if she was listed before I'm guessing she has been bumped up as What's Your Pleasure was an absolute banger.

BBC Introducing has always been a separate announcement and not part of Silver Hayes itself. So you're right, it's located in Silver Hayes but it isn't part of Silver Hayes. ....I'm sure there is a UK and Europe equivalency in there somewhere... Someone else has suggested somewhere it should be in the Park - it used to be! - I disagree. I think it being in SH makes it more accessible and likely to get more passing footfall than on the hill. Though I do see the argument that a Park crowd might be more inclined to stop by and maybe that's why it used to be up there. Had a very sweaty time seeing Zane Lowe in there over 10 years ago on a Thursday evening.

Someone has probably beaten me to this but she will be doing a more DJ set than live set. This was the case at APE last year and while a slight disappointment still a solid set. I do wonder why she hasn't dropped another single from her forthcoming album in the last two years. I get why she would delay the overall release due to vinyl backlog and wanting to get those sales all up front but only one single is weird. Maybe she is waiting for Oli and Jamie to do their thing now?

If I had been awake I'd have done it. You're doing the lords work!
  21. Conspicuously absent for me too. I think he will have an afternoon John Peel slot. Would fit him better. It'll be rammed too, I expect.
  22. Superb. Best we take it off-line ......wait that doesn't work on here does it

    Record Store Day

Yea, aware of the online not being for a week. I'll be there tomorrow, just not been well so mornings are hard and my store of choice is Rough Trade East so..... yea - not overly optimistic. Could dispatch my Mum in our home town but she won't queue up like us muppets.

    Record Store Day

Well if I tell you then you might buy the last one before I get there! 😆 Jon Hopkins for me. It'll complete my collection of his solo studio albums. There doesn't seem to be too much chatter about it at the moment so cautiously optimistic that my inability to get up at silly o clock and get across London may not be too much of an issue. But then I thought no one would want the Fred Again album last year so what do I know! (I got one in the end - good old discogs. Same price too)
  25. Not just me that leapt to the glasto website and instagram then?
