  1. I'm another late starter, my first was 2009 at the age of 48.  I think I missed a couple since then but I stopped counting ages ago.  I missed out on 2020 which I had thought would be my last (after all I would have been nearly 60 then). But i wasn't ready to go out and thanks to my good friend @Tranquility of Solitudegot lucky for 2023.

My hubby is not very fit now so it did make it a different experience for us.  I did get to dance a bit and drew some admirers from the younger generation but I think they were being nice. The admirers from the slightly older folks were more genuine 😁

So I think I'm ready to call it a day and go out on a high.

  2. Yes the men's shower situation was crazy.  I heard that when they swapped them round the women had to wait for the last guy to emerge - he'd been in the shower for 25 minutes apparently 🤣

The staff working the toilets were brilliant and even though the queues looked bad they moved quickly.

Although it seemed very far out we weren't actually that much further than some of the general camping.

Best part was the convenience of the car parking, easy in and easy out.  And of course the guys helping with their wheelbarrows and showing you around were an added bonus.

I really enjoyed it, spent the mornings chilling outside the tent chatting with neighbours.

  3. We went for the so called glamping (aka pre pitched) option of Sticklinch because we are old and apart from the campervan option the only way we could physically do it.

I was surprised at how many younger folk chose this option, I expected a slightly older or overseas crowd.

Anyhow I agree that more pre pitched camping would skew the demographic to older and wealthier, which is not a good thing.

We are hanging up our boots now, this was our last Glastonbury I reckon.

Saw him 5 years ago and he was amazing!

Lewis Capaldi needs to call it a day for a while and get himself sorted.

71 year old Chrissie Hynde can keep going as long as she likes. Another great Glasto set.

I see Lewis has taken your advice.

It absolutely bucketed down in Edinburgh overnight. Proper stotting off the streets rain for hours. The ground here wasn't as baked as at the farm. But I walked over a grassy field this afternoon and you would swear it hadnt rained at all. Bone dry.

    Everything's gonna be alright. 🙂

    That'll help my garden x

Is it wrong to be more worried about the garden than Glastonbury at this stage ?

No you're not wrong.  I've just dropped all my baskets and praying for rain in Edinburgh.   You have a beautiful garden btw.b

Well last year it was only like that on the Wednesday. I spent that day at the tent, not moving - under a UV umbrella.

2019. I am not sure how I survived, but I did. Tbh, the Friday I wasnt as bad as some of my mates. I didnt see very much, but I survived. The Saturday, I saw the Proclaimers & the next thing I saw was Liam Gallagher. I was written off at my tent. Under an umbrella.

I see sod all when its hot. I will drag myself to something.

After the Proclaimers I spent the next few hours in the shelter of the woods by Woodsies.  My go to place when it's hot

  8. 10 years on and the Hives are playing the same slot, second up on the Other stage Friday  One of my (many) favourite moments.    So I'm ten years older but I think I'm still up for it.

So who's bringing the ladder? Just me..?

Oh for heavens sake. Looks like the dumb feckers have sent mine to Dunbar instead of Dunfermline.......

Not good.  Mine are somewhere in the post office system but tracker not working yet.

  11. For those out there that think the weather has peaked too early, well I'm old enough to remember a year where we had no rain of significance from Easter till September. And that was in the West of Scotland!

  12. We got pulled in for a search once, after the had got through our first rucksack we offered up the second.  The look on security guy's face was priceless "Just get out of here". I blame my middle aged scouse husband for opening his mouth in earshot.

And before anyone says anything about stereotypes, I will defend the wonderful Liverpool folks till the end of the day. But I'm allowed to tease my OH x

An uncertain second half to the month. The most likely scenario is for dry settled conditions in the north, and a risk of rain or showers, perhaps thundery, in the south. Winds may ease over the period leading to temperatures increasing to average to above average in eastern areas; elsewhere in the UK, it is likely to feel warm to rather warm.”

I don't want dry in the north, I want some rain to keep my garden alive.with hot and sunny in the south

  14. I don't think we have a strategy.  We've done it by car, by campervan and by coach all with varying degrees of success.

    The worst :

    - 2009. Campervan 13 hours from Liverpool  (before they opened on Tuesday) our first Glastonbury festival and it didn't put us off

    - 2016. Car.  Dallied around M5 service station till about 1pm cos of the weather delays. Didn't help.On site at 10pm, at least we were able to put our head torches to proper use pitching up.  No queues at gate though. Just horrendous mud to drag our gear through. Nearly gave up and went home. I was broken.  That year the coaches from Edinburgh and Glasgow took 24 hours to get to site! Not sure who's journey was worse.

2011. Car. Joined for Gate D at about 7am.  Except the q was a dead end and then the rain started. On site about 1pm.

    The best

2019. Coach from Liverpool at midnight Joined q at 7am. Pitched up by 10 am

This year we're going for Sticklinch.  Hotel by the M5, breakfast then driving in.  Hopefully it'll all work fine.

Our experience with coach has been good but we are too old now to travel light.

It's been a thing for years. They put Maximo Park on there in 2010.

I might be wrong but I think that might have been 2009.  Followed by a big thunder storm and rumours of MJ death.

I saw her in 2019. As mime artists go, she’s no Marcel Marceau.

She has come up as my top artist in Spotify wrapped.  I blame that on letting my niece access to my account.
