  1. On the subject of recommendations, A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs is an absolutely monumental piece of work. It’s heavy going but the research put into it by your man Andrew Hickey is phenomenal. Currently at 168 - I Say a Little Prayer.

    2024 Headliners

Decent setlist but the lack of Borderline is unforgivable
  3. Not sure that they fit in with the Coachella demographic nowadays. Plenty festivals in the US would take them. Likely too expensive for glastonbury.
  4. Depends on how much value bands take on free passes for the weekend?
  5. That 'mixtape' he did was his best in years!
  6. Minor grievance about the encore and lack of Vanderlyle apart, another superb gig for them. They’re a phenomenal band. Interesting to see different pockets/demographics of the crowd all having their particular favourites - always a good thing.
  7. I've held back on the last one over the summer - they're definitely an 'autumn/winter' listen for me. Going to be some cramming ahead of the Leeds gig.
  8. Waiting list - hoped to have some good news for my teenage niece. Hey ho
  9. Anyone received a general sale notification yet?
  10. It’s not only missing the festival that worries me. For that weekend, tv and social media focuses on nothing but it - like it’s the centre of the earth. I’ll have to take steps to go off grid for the weekend, camping up the lakes or something. I really don’t think I could cope with it being in my face all weekend.
  11. We've done 09-23, with numbers gradually being increased. Every year we say this will be the year our luck runs out and every year we're astonished that we sort everyone. It's been 6 groups the last few years. The more I read up on it, the more astonishing it is how lucky we've been. Tell you what though - not one person takes it for granted when we're there! Always play e it as if you might never get back again!
  12. I miss Kasbah - Tap House music left me feeling old. Didn't really go any earlier than the 90's and every other song felt like it was Arctic Monkeys
  13. Absolutely you needed to take the first left on leaving as the fastest route. 10 minutes to Other is still a stretch mind. Only lesson I’d take from camping there would be to avoid heading up to Park/Arcadia too early in the evening. We were up for Chemical Brothers / Floating Points which was ok, but when we got bored there was a real reluctance to go back towards Glade/SE and all the other bars as we’d have to trek right back. Something half decent to replace the drive in place, such as a bar or relaxing place would be canny!
  14. The 6 man tents fitted in easily 6. One of our group stuck an under 12 in as well with little issues. Cosy!
  15. You’ve just reminded me I had one of these when our gang were having a farewell pint after Reg on Sunday. I’d spent ages trying to find somewhere with no queue that was open. Was alright but nowt special. Our veggie mates swear by the vegan corn dogs by SH. I tried their VFC and was very impressed as a carnivore
  16. Ha! A papoose I believe, or so the rumour goes.
  17. There was rumours that someone had a baby in the pit for the Arctic Monkeys, anyone confirm?
  18. Snide, but I saw a fella pay £7.50 at one of those stalls that sell cigs and the like.
  19. Used our new camping location to take advantage of the coop and their £2 bags of ice. Invested in three waterproof cool bags and tools loads more cans than we usually would. Spent very little on pints as a result. The bags were a pain to carry late at night but still a real plus to our weekend, more variety of beers and ciders.

    CMAT

One of my biggest disappointments that I couldn’t pull myself around in time to see her. Really struggle with the early shows on a Sunday.

    Grit in the eye

+1 for Damon. He still looks a little fragile but it was great seeing him finding his feet again. I was by myself and had a proper lip wobbling moment during Silent Sigh.
  22. It’s still the most wonderful place on this island. People complain about the arseholes on here when they get back, and there can be some divs that spoil it for others, but they’re by far and wide outnumbered by thousands upon thousands of sound people who are having a good time.
  23. If I was being picky, I’d say the blackened shrimp at Bayou wasn’t particularly black, more like supermarket prawns! Still, that Surf n Turf was my favourite of the weekend. Honourable mentions for Tibetan scran, Jerk place at Other/SH and Annie Mae’s.
  24. Badly Drawn Boy, The Unthanks and The Foos probably my favourite three. No real love Dave G & co, but being in that field with my missus and friends - all having the time of their life, singing and dancing in the sun - there’s nothing and nowhere like it.
  25. Best food of the weekend!
