  1. I've got Alfresco Disco booked in for October, but that's it for the moment! I've only had two weekends off this year, so September is a nice break before ramping back up towards the end of 2022. Reckon I'll try and get a WHP or a London event in the calendar. Always love an Autumn/Winter boogie.

I know, they're one of my favourite bands ever, but my point was they don't seem to fit neatly into either the 70s or 80s sound so often get overlooked

I always think they're one of the most underrated bands ever, and my theory is because their last album came out in 1982. They don't seem to get talked about in the same bracket as a lot of the big 80's bands because of that, and yet they definitely influenced a lot of those bands. I also somehow don't associate them with the 70s either because I immediately think of punk, Bowie, American rock, or prog when the 70's comes up. Sort of a weird inbetween with them where they were almost too ahead of their time! Nile Rodgers forming Chic because he went to a Roxy show and was so inspired will always be my favourite bit of trivia.

Incredible band who influenced so many after them, don't even care if Ferry's voice is shot, what a booking! Not sure how well it'll go down generally, but this is great.

    The 1975

I think we did one Boardmasters and then straight to Glasto the year after, so it was a similar vibe of going almost straight to the big daddy and ruining everything else! 😅

    The 1975

Always have the biggest grin on my face when I see Reading crowds going for it and having the time of their lives. Just makes me happy, remembering how being 15/16/17/whatever and at your first festival was so much fun.
  7. Finally watched, just completely mad really isn't it? The Sunday night chaos is still bizarre to watch as you just don't see marauding crowds setting fire to festival infrastructure haha I saw the HBO doc when it came out but I think the three episodes of the Netflix doc allowed a bit more depth. I'd never seen footage from the rave hangar for example, it actually looked really fucking fun up until the horrible bit with the van happened.

I definitely fell in love a little bit, I won't lie.

    Lorde

The set was actually really fucking emotional in retrospect, maybe cause it was Sunday evening haha I think I said it earlier in this thread, but it's a shame she probably won't be back on the farm for a long time now, as I can't see what slot she could play. OS headliner?

    EE at Glastonbury 2022

Very glad I switched to EE about six months ago. Had better signal all weekend than I do day to day in my flat in (very) central Bristol, was mad!
  12. I still think Chadwick is one of the celebrity deaths that hit the hardest. He was the future of the MCU, and seemed to be the loveliest guy as well.
  13. I like this as a choice. Shang had some great fight scenes, and he can also do drama (Short Term 12 is fantastic). Cautiously optimistic.
  14. About a month late on this but I had the 2 man non pop up version, and what a gamechanger! Never been bothered about tents before as I hate camping other than at festivals, but it really really made the difference. Was getting back around 7ish most mornings and could then sleep until about 11 or so, whereas usually it would be probably 9. Those few hours were so so needed.
  15. Not a bad shout, I think he's definitely got the chops! I wonder if he'd have too much of a comedic sensibility though? (Although I guess it's hard to say as we obviously have no idea what the tone of both movies is going to be)
  16. Really is a shame the Russo's aren't coming back to direct, I can't really think who else I'd want to do it.
  17. Christ, I didn't know Attention Deficit had a B side. And it's fucking big!

    Kendrick Lamar

It was an all timer for me. An artist at the very very top of his game, so fucking good! I wish I was a bit further forwards, being further back let you see the whole spectacle but you naturally do miss a bit of the energy.
  19. Yeah, the middle episodes were a bit pants weren't they. Felt like a cheap DC show on The CW, or Doctor Who. Really enjoyed the last episode though, and the huge reveal at the end was a very nice surprise, had no idea it was coming!

    Sam Fender

This is exactly it. His personal narrative/story/whatever is what makes him different from RB. There's that willingness from the public for him to triumph, I think.

That Annie Lennox setlist is strong. Would be all over that.

If I think about everyone I know that goes to Glasto, I'm pretty sure they'd all go see Spice Girls in that slot. They'd have to put someone absolutely enormous up against them. I don't even care that it might be naff or that they can't sing, that would almost be the point, I think.
