Really? loved it, but wasn't sure I was going to go to it till quite late on, pretty spontaneous, so had no expectations. And it had probably been 6 or 7 years since I'd seen them before that. Much like listening to that new song today, I'd forgotten how good they can be.

So f**king good, yep. Really given me the itch to see them live again. Last time was West Holts, 2016, I think? Magnificent.
  4. Kent types, that Drumsheds is a piece of cake to get to from Stratford, it appears.
  5. Woah, now, it's where Franks was? (I haven't been back to Cliftonville in an age, like I said, I was abroad for 25 years). That's Faith in Strangers? Dear God, somebody managed to prise it away from the Thorleys? You'll be telling me next that the Caprice Club has been rehabilitated and is now a venue for minimalist techno.

Oooh, new Underworld. Excellent. Thanks for the heads up
  7. It's all so much better than when I was growing up round here, Folkestone QuarterHouse, Ramsgate Music Hall, Elsewhere etc it's all to the good. But not having a car at the moment means the Thanet stuff is a bit of a pain in the hole.
  8. hehe, yep, had my pick of the food stalls at West Holts while watching 'This is the Kit' play to 5 people at the same time as Kylie
  9. Yeah, expanding the site with the curent scale/names/expectations/lineup means the rest of the site is even deader and more like a ghost town while your enormo-stars play the Pyramid. No way around that
  10. Tell me about it, spend the last third of every set twitching and checking the time before deciding when to leg it back to St P
  11. I grew up in Thanet, moved abroad for 25 years, now back in the UK and in Deal, even slightly more deeper and darker than you!
  12. Was really tempted to go, but it's a long long way from St Pancras and would need to leave early to get the last train back to deepest darkest South East Kent
  13. Fascinated by this, cos it's so at odds with my take. Genuine question, are you equally sanguine in other aspects of life? Food, architecture, books, decor, art, politics etc, or it only music where people get a free pass to be wrong?

Bafflingly, to me at least, I've gone back in and am hooked by the second track, but I think for all the wrong reasons. My verdict: Grisly but gripping. Has anyone seen them live? Do they manage to pull this ludicrousness off?

Did it not give you 'Nick Helm doing his rock star schtick' vibes. If they manage to pull off walking this line, fair play to them.

And I'm out. I tell you what, I can see why, if you like that sort of thing, you like this. I don't, sorry. I got as far as the first verse.

OK, lot of people I respect and/or like bigging up Creeper on this thread. I'm going in.
  18. The Mitski presale was brutal. Fortunately between us got the seven we needed for Edinburgh. Delighted about that.
  19. hahaha, poor old Mark Chadwick. Even Ticketmaster/the Apollo can't get his name right. Fame is a fickle mistress, right Mike?
  20. Get away skipper, you've a cheeky grin spread across your mooey most of the time. And it's a joy to behold.
  21. Peace brother, I hate the game, not the player. (I'm entirely in their demographic too, which makes me push back against it even more, I think - and I tell you what, I bet those Hacienda Classical c**ts use words like 'demographic' in their marketing plan)
  22. I'm going to try and keep relatively restrained here on my views on the inherent classism in taking something life changing and beautiful and astounding and culturally vital, which those dance tracks were/are, and then playing them on 'proper' instruments in an attempt to give it some form of faux legitimacy and meaning. It is genuinely barbaric in the true sense of the word - It's absolutely artistically bankrupt and anti-creativity. I tell you had bad it is, and this is some f**king statement, but I'd rather listen to an hour of Liam Gallagher's witless bellowing than one minute of Hacienda classical. Now look what you've made me do there. I'm off to scrub my brain clean. Hope you're happy now.
  23. Look at that photo. Look at the depths of despair in all of their eyes. Beaten. Defeated. Like a Labrador on a daytime telly RSPCA advert. How do you think yer man from the Levellers would have reacted to being called Britpop in 1994? That shows all you all you need to know about their integrity. A medium sized back of cash and he'll willingly sh*t on his past. There's only one way of life, and that's your mortgage company's.
