  1. Absolute clusterfuck of a Saturday afternoon with Squid/Comet/Chubby/Anna Meredith all overlapping.
  2. Yeah, no idea how many time I've seen Hot Chip, but it's never a bad gig. Always a life-affirming joyous experience, and exactly what I need for the Friday of the first festival in a couple of years. Back with a bang.
  3. Until you mentioned it the other week, I hadn't really considered the consequences with flights, but I'm due to fly back to Moscow a week or so after EOTR and need a negative PCR covid test. Got to say, I'm a bit concerned now
  4. Can't find much info on it, but this looks like it's just a solo set up, assuming the photo is from this year's show and not a previous one. Either way, I can't wait. That Barbican show that he streamed last year and is on youtube is stunning, but last time he played EOTR it was with a full band and made me cry. Either way, very very excited about this, especially straight after Arab Strap.
  5. I'll be honest, I've not really kept up with what they're up to these days, but 'Brilliant Sanity'? Fantastic. Thinking back, I reckon I only got into them after seeing them at EOTR a few years back. I'm sure that was my starting point for them.
  6. (I'll be at Richard Dawson, for the avoidance of doubt, but based on that show above, there's some interesting stuff there)
  7. hehehe, you talking about King Krule sounds exactly like my Ma talking about Kid A era Radiohead As it goes, I quite like the Ooz, - the latest one didn't grab me in the same way, but I guess I'm not really the target audience for him. I think live, he'll have quite the band/set up with him, so think it could be quite a decent spectacle in those terms
  8. Friday evening definitely the worst set of clashes for me Albarn/Hot Chip vs Arlo Parks/John Grant. Only tough one on Sunday is Arab Strap v Little Simz, but got tickets for AS in London on the Wednesday, so can live with that
  9. Teleman a welcome unexpected addition
  10. here's a shit quality (but just about readable) screengrab of it
  11. Seconded. Saw him a couple of years back. 'Sunflower' I think it was. Really good.
  12. Jordan Brookes. Saw him the other year at Edinburgh, the year he won the Perrier. Superb show. Reckon @CaledonianGonzowill back me up on this.
  13. wonder who's doing it then, cos there's still a 'record shop' marked on the map. Ah, sorry, I read that wrong, couldn't parse it, all clear now. Thanks
  14. New one is really good, but overlong, needed chopping down to a single album, 45 minutes of top notch stuff
  15. Also worth following Paul Bridgewater (from Line of Best Fit) on Twitter, he usually tweets about secret performances/piano stage etc.
  16. Genuinely, I'll argue this forever, PGG is a thrilling ride, full of darkness and light, GMF is his finest song, Glacier is astonishing, and the title track is brilliant as well. It's just a complete work of art that album. QoD is too in thrall to the Midlake influence. JG hasn't yet got the confidence to do his own, unique thing. I like Midlake well enough, but they're not exactly thrilling. it's all so one-paced, worthy and in thrall to the idea of being 'classic' that it fails to achieve that. PGG is when he stretches himself and absolutely fucking soars.
  17. The musical hill I will die on is that Pale Green Ghosts is far and away his best album, way better than QoD
  18. Looks like we dodged a bullet with Whitney "These intimate shows will mark the beginning of a new chapter in our project. New songs and new sounds will be presented with a focus on being in the moment.” + “We’ll be bringing a new stripped-back lineup with us" = A band on the ropes https://www.nme.com/news/music/whitney-announce-intimate-2021-north-american-tour-3019143?utm_source=hootsuite&utm_medium=&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=
  19. Looks pretty good. Here's the setlist from a couple of days ago. Imagine we'll get something very similar. Nice mix https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/richard-dawson/2021/edinburgh-park-edinburgh-scotland-438cbbbf.html Unfortunately not 'The Vile Stuff', would absolutely love to see him do that live
  20. Anyone see Richard Dawson at the Edinburgh fest last night? He was my absolute highlight in 2018, and I'm intrigued as to what he's doing now and what kind of band he's with, presumably mainly stuff from the '2020' album and not so much from 'Peasant'

Was underwhelmed at first, but it's growing on me. Half a dozen listens in and yeah, I'm into it.
