  1. Aw, thanks for the thanks! you might have noticed that there isn’t anything there from Black Country New Road. They haven’t released anything since Isaac Wood left and they’ve said they won’t play any material from his time. There is stuff on YouTube
  2. That's crazy. There's someone to follow for early release next year!
  3. In case anyone is interested here is a playlist of all on the West Holts. Top two tracks plus latest release from everyone on the poster
  4. Watching that car crash moment with Tiffany reminded me of Amy Winehouse in 2008. So sad. I wonder if anyone else has any other recollections of similar moments at Glastonbury
  5. I’m so happy to see this after the really depressing video shared earlier. And I’m not even a fan!
  6. no, not your comments. But there have been a few surprises posted !
  7. I hope you realise my comment was an ironic statement, made to highlight the idiocy of what other people had been saying.
  8. Wow. Slight kneejerk reactions here. This was the setlist from his last London show https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/yusuf-islam/2016/shaftesbury-theatre-london-england-5bfa67ec.html And this was the setlist from the one before https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/yusuf-islam/2014/eventim-apollo-london-england-33cc0041.html Mind you all the women were in the circle, while the men were downstairs. And the support act was a public stoning of a blasphemer. ...no, obviously not. The man is an entertainer. Whatever his religious beliefs (and I'm an atheist, so they're ALL the same to me) he's in showbiz. I saw him in 2014, not having expected to like him. He put on a great show. Because that's his business. He'll play to his audience. That's ultimately how, with 55 years in said show business, he'll still sell out the Royal Albert Hall.
  9. Yes, more a ‘guilty pleasure’ than a ‘tribute to excellence’.
  10. I think much of the debate centres on how you define legend. And, as always, those definitions are determined by which side of the Atlantic you’re on. Oxford English Dictionary an extremely famous person, especially in a particular field. Merriam Webster a person that inspires legends It seems to me the British definition is far more based on their own merit, on their own expertise. With the emphasis on their field, the legend status comes from them. The American definition implies an element of mythologising and that status is bestowed upon 'the legend' by a third party. One definition possibly sees a Kylie fit the narrative, the other definition maybe a little more Cat
  11. conversations on Cat Stevens on efestivals is like f***ing whackamole - you think it's been killed off on one thread, and then up it pops on another!
  12. I took the wife to see Cat Stevens at Hammie Apollo a few years ago. She’s a longtime fan, but didn’t know he was playing until we turned up at the venue. I had no interest whatsoever, knew only a few songs (and those I knew I didnt think I liked) and my attendance was purely an act of uxurious devotion. I’d actually bought seated tickets thinking I might have a nap. Needless to say it was a great show. I loved it. I’m looking forward to seeing him again.
  13. He has stated exactly where he stands. He has categorically stated that he didnt back the fatwa and still doesn't.
  14. So, having headlined the Other Stage in 2019, where does Christine and the Queens go now?? It's a 1975 and Foals conundrum. There was much talk of them/him being future Pyramid headline material. Although having said that - the current album hasn't done that well (caveat:- based on Spotify figures)
  15. Excellent. I saw him at Latitude. And had tickets for the recent Scala gig, but couldn’t make it. A great performer.
  16. Not all crew or backstage bars have stages. The ones I remember most are West Holts (fab, see earlier video) and Park. The main Interstage backstage had a tiny friends of the earth (I think) globe type stage where everyone practically sat on Baaba Maal’s lap it was so small. But I don’t think it’s had one since. I vaguely remember Shangri La backstage having a stage but frankly I never remember much of the non-backstage area anyway.
  17. or, perhaps like me, born well before GnR (55) but last listened to commercial radio with John Peel under the bedclothes.
  18. …hold on, plus the Abba holograms!
  19. I’ve always said I do know Sweet Child of Mine. But none of the others.
  20. It’s like that stat - one in seven UK households owned a copy of the Beautiful South’s Carry on Up the Charts. There’ll be many people here who’d find it hard to name one of their songs.
  21. Oh, hold on, that’s also me. I’ll get my coat.
  22. Never seen it. I know everyone will shoot me down for this but… I reckon if you had a Venn diagram with Appetite for Destruction, Terminator 2 and Music for the Masses, one of those intersects will be much larger…
