  1. Oh wicked — good for them. That's an encouraging 180˚. Nice spot!
  2. I blinked. Gutted. Should have held on.
  3. that's right, Josh Homme is dead tired of still partaking in Hurt/Heal

  5. No gut feeling for the likelihood of Ken popping up with us but... scorching line-up for that Vegas festival, wow.

  7. That being said — was great to see Tom Tom Club on West Holts, and my Dad mentions catching David Byrne on the Jazz World in '97, so they have some relationship with the farm. Byrne should have headlined the JP/WH during his 2018-19 run though. A sensational tour.
  8. Talking Heads would have been a hugely worthy '80s headliner, especially given most of their direct rivals for best act of the decade (New Order, Fela Kuti, Smiths) managed it during the festival's slow transition to modernity. Can you imagine this or the Stop Making Sense-era road show on the farm? Phwoar.
  9. Was it not 2015? Might have that wrong but thought Metallica was the last ditch (and, tbf, inspired) stand-in.
  10. That was my thinking too, but I'm surprised to learn Daddy's Home has outperformed all her other albums in the UK. In at #4 (would have expected more like #14) The campaign has been lumpy but I reckon she's a big draw for the indie dads and is still pushed rampantly by the Beeb as a 'successor to PJ Harvey' type — perhaps because they've not got a surefire replacement candidate coming through yet. See how it plays out. Agreed that John Peel sub sounds likely, or late lunch in the sun somewhere.
  11. St Vincent > Robyn > Pet Shop Boys would be an excellent Sunday evening run.
  12. It's a head-scratcher. Pyramid's not a bad call — St V has the crossover appeal, if not quite the hits. Gut says mid-high Other. That bracket between 3rd and 5th from top seems to be where solidly successful North American alt acts (aka big cheeses in the 6 Music universe) tend to fall: Bright Eyes, Mac DeMarco, HAIM, Future Islands, Interpol, The National all there in recent memory.
  13. Wonder where she goes nowadays. 4th top on Other? JP headliner?

Bloody hell, I missed this. "A quick google of a floating glass box brings up many instances of suspended glass cubes" — savage https://www.thefader.com/2018/11/13/kanye-west-kid-cudi-lorde-john-mcguire-set-design-stolen

  18. This one is so good, never get tired of it. Why is he surrounded by statues? We can tell from the cover that he's a connoisseur of fine art, but is he rich enough to own the museum? Why did they print actual bank numbers on his Ghetto Express card rather than 8008135 or 69420? And why is his hand not connected to his body? Is he related to Rayman? Sensational all round.

Not in the slightest. I'd say you rushing in to cuss out anyone rolling their eyes at her statement is a bit of tragic simping, but we all have our foibles

Is it different when you wake up on one side of bed in the Southern Hemisphere? It's reversed right? Very hard to wrap my little head around, some might say bordering on impossible.

Solar Power is right, just not the kind she was thinking of — that press release is like staring at the sun during an eclipse

Holy moly that press release is off-putting. Radiates condescending, trite, Coachella-ish living my best life upper class airs and graces. No nuance, just bad energy. Kind of person who snaps fingers at a waiter The photo of her beaming at the beach is the lone saving grace. But yeesh. Too late for a do-over? Think someone's had a little too much time in the sun.
