I'm at my mum's and we watched some of the Cummings thing. She thought it was boring as fuck, and I thought it was fascinating. She thinks it's all old news now, no point crying over spilt milk, what's done is done, what's the point of going over it all again, whereas I think it's extremely important that we know this stuff. I wonder which of us is more intune with the great british public.

    your Mam for sure unfortunately

How many people haven't been contacted directly since becoming eligible? Although I booked before I was texted, I did get invited by text and by letter within a week of becoming eligible.

Is it common to have had no invitation?

my fella is 48 and he never got an invite from the GP, I organised jab for him at local hub as soon as he was eligible which is like 4-5 weeks ago

Me on the other hand had multiple texts about jab invite - we both use the same GP and live in same house so it's not always a given getting an invite

Oh, that's a bit rubbish for you. How long since you had it?

It was Friday morning, had the sore arm all Friday but all day today it's been a bit rubbish

I'm sure I'll be fine it's just knackered me out a bit 😞

Why are we panicking? Increase in cases but no increase in hospitalisations or deaths?

You're right it's not thank god, the issue is like any other virus for every person that catches it is another chance if the virus mutating ..... That's the main issue here

Statistically there will be deaths due to increased prevalence but shouldn't be the same as previously thank god!

  5. Had my 2nd Pfizer jab this morning!! arm currently feeling like it's been filled with lead again lol

Based on tonight's update I think Boris is bracing us for a delay on lifting everything on 21st June, but tbh I think that's be the case for awhile now 😞

The MEN story a few days ago mentioned the Indian variant, but I couldn't work out whether that was conjecture or not. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

I'm sure I've read somewhere the rise in cases there is in the younger folks who haven't been vaccinated yet...

But we also know there is a lower take up by the Asian communities in the north areas of Manchester, so if Indian variant is about then it's potentially spreading in the unvaccinated but I don't know for sure

Someone help me out, what does woke actually mean?

First time I heard it used was in Redbone by Childish Gambino where it basically meant ‘pay attention’, then nothing for years, now suddenly it’s apparently the worst thing someone can be.

it's the new word for being too PC or basically giving a shit to your fellow person - I really hate the word tbh

yeah, the good people of Hartlepool wanted change...so have voted tory.

they have Farage's HQ there, highest Brexit vote in the area and that's why the pool turned all the Brexit votes went to Tories...

I can't even speak to my parents about Brexit as some of the shit they come out with is unbelievable - I'm afraid to say there is alot of xenophobia and racism up that way 😞

It's actually quite funny the old story that they hung a monkey that washed a shore from a sunken ship because they thought it was a Frenchman back in the 15th century or whenever it was - quite fitting for these days up there

  9. It's actually super weird to seeing Hartlepool being on the news so heavily tbh - I was born there and all my family currently live there (I escaped early 90s thank god)

What's sad to see is that most folks seem to think Tories will help them, up investment, level them up, bring more jobs and make good change... yet Tories have been in power for 11 years and they seriously don't give a flying fig about about the North never mind a small NE seaside town that hung a monkey back in the day...

But Tories have defo mastered the good PR and Marketing waffle, which folks are eating up as general joe public don't particularly care about politics and just listen to the soundbites - Tories playing a blinder on this and unfortunately Labour still clinging to integrity and pointing out all the unbelievable shit Bojo and Co are doing, but guess what people don't seem to care and labour are really paying the price.

They need a stronger vision and quite frankly need to play dirty to show grit, as that is why is giving Bojo more votes it's crazy!!

"working class" Hartlepool where most own their own homes vs "working class" woke Londoners on min wage hmmm.

You are right that the Labour are disconnected with what the average British person wants, but no one in this thread (me included) seem to have a coherent idea of what Labour should even do to remedy that.

have you actually been to Hartlepool? I don't dispute there is good home ownership but its a proper shithole that has lost pretty much all of it's industry and lot of folks pretty poor

I agree labour has lost it's vision against the PR/Marketing waffle Tory soundbites that general joe public who don't give a fig about politics are listening and sadly believing in 😞

The article seems to indicate that the issue is vaccine hesitancy in Bolton.

That doesn't surprise me with the the people I know in Bolton who basically think covid is fake 😞

Those of you who had side effects, how long did they take to kick in?

most folk I know said the following day but went away after a day or two

  13. This is just heart breaking to see, I do hope other countries can help with providing oxygen but can imagine the logistics being a nightmare

Also India, Bangladesh, Cambodia are all extending their lockdown measures and Turkey not looking good either with case rises again 😞

Not been to the pub yet. Can't be arsed with the whole table booking social distance thing. Can't wait to the day when can just walk into any pub whenever and order a drink from the bar. I guess won't be able to do that until at the earliest June21st.

I think most of the bars around the NQ are walk-ins only
