The 'some like it hot' toastie was just elite ❤️ I'm sure it's the same place as opposite Leftfield at Glastonbury. I usually go for a toastie, a wine from the wine bar next door and the  head in to Leftfield to listen to the late morning debates 🙂

I'm really glad you managed to have happy moments despite the sadness

Yeah the some like hot toastie was amazing, had that on Saturday 🙂

  2. This was my 1st festival in 4 years and 1st one without my Andy (as he past suddenly last year after his 50th 😞 ) went with glamping option as even though was catching up with friends at points, I knew I would be on own and didn't want to set up our lovely tent just for me...

Whilst is was hard at times especially on the Sunday as I just wanted Andy to be there with me, he's always in spirit as I have some of his ashes in a necklace aka his mobile home but obviously not the same

I did have a great time, Witch Fever, Elvana, EMF to name a few were fantastic, loved Big Ed, the silent disco and the karaoke at the knockerdown tent - was there pretty much every night murdering Bon Jovi wanted dead or alive, Simple Minds don't you forget about me with a bit of Cranberries zombie and Kate Bush to boot (given I've never done karaoke ever in public until this year I could get enough of it 🙂 )

Bar choice was not as varied as last time I went in 2019 but it was still pretty decent and spent small fortune!! I opted for greek gyros a few times, pie, crispy duck wrap (overpriced imo), great toastie place on way to woodland and finally had a goan fish curry - did think £12 for a main meal was a bit steep but guess it was inevitable

All in all had a great time despite my personal circumstances, but I do think the changes they made this year worked well particularly the Meadow (spent alot of time there) and the silent disco..

Oh and nearly buggered myself up on Jaipur on the 1st day, that stuff is lethal!! 🤪

  3. Are there security lockers this year? as can't see any details on website and a bit concerned as I'm camping on my own (abid in glamping but had to be done given I don't have my partner with me now), last time I was there in 2019 there were a few thefts so want to make sure belongings are safe

    Thanks

  4. Well I bought myself a super early bird ticket for this, as I missed this year due to my partner being ill and unfortunately he died in July shortly after his 50 birthday 😞

I miss Andy everyday and was in 2 minds whether to go as we loved going to festivals together (we had so much fun), so its going to be hard going without him but I know he wouldn't want me to miss out on something I loved doing... so I'm back on the festival bandwagon and joining another group of friends who are going

Glad the BYO beer policy is still there, capacity increase to 15k like this year not so much but I'll live as this for me is more about moving forward doing something I love if a different way now that my Andy has gone 😞

  5. If anyone would like to buy a pair of weekend camping tickets plus Thursday entry and car park pass I have them listed on Twickets

    https://www.twickets.live/block/922009220004556,5

    These are 2019 prices

Unfortunately partner has been very poorly this year and yet a gain in hospital, so we can't go... therefore if anyone or you know anyone interested then share them this link - Cheers 🙂

I also have a weekend meteor shower pass too put not listed that yet, these are actually sold out now but would sell this for £40 and small storage locker for £10

Spiritualized vs Groove Armada is a tough choice. On one hand, SPZD are one of my favourite bands and I always get emotional seeing them, on the other hand its a friday night and my friends will probably be seeing GA, so like do i really want to be crying when I could be partying instead??

I would recommend Anna Meredith. Such a talented queen, and her shows are really fun

yeah she is as did see her last time she played Bluedot 🙂

  7. Really happen they have got Metronomy (personal fav) and Groove Armada (not seen before), plus a few regular acts I enjoy seeing (Henge, Stealing Sheep, Radiophonic workshop, Hannah Peel etc).... need to check out some of the other names I'm not familar with but happy with this lineup..

My other festival is bearded theory who have an awesome lineup this year!! so happy bunny here 🙂

I wonder if Groove Armada and Metronomy would have been announced at the same time as Bjork back in September if it was still the 2020 three?.

Keep thinking of Royksopp with them making a come back would fit in that dance category.

Bloc Party and Spiritualized would seem big enough and fit.

They both had tours to sell, so reckon that was the reason for the delay...

I'm hoping for both as love Metronomy (been asking for them on the questionnaire thingie they do each year, actually asked for Bjork too so double winner!) and never seen Groove Armada 🙂

Still going for Idles as sub headliner for the Friday...not sure if the below makes it more or less likely though...

I think we will get Echo & the Bunnymen back too given this festival puts them in Wolverhampton on the Saturday..... I really hope so

Hoping the Undertones are back on the lineup too 🙂

Pretty fucking shit this end, in all honesty. My mum passed away last week and I'm still really struggling to process it. She wasn't even ill until three weeks ago and it all happened very fast. It wasn't Covid but Covid regs meant I wasn't allowed to visit her so I think that's partly why it seems so unreal still. Hoping the funeral will help, but there's likely to be a bit of a delay to that too. I'm off work for another week, just trying to take it easy and support the rest of my family but I just feel exhausted and numb to be quite honest.

I've spent most of the last year scared that my father-in-law and one of my best friends, both with stage 4 cancer, would get Covid or take a turn for the worse, but beyond general worries about my parents getting the virus this wasn't really on my radar at all. Just goes to show that life comes at you and you can't really predict these things. Let the people in your lives know you love them while you can.

Think I'm finally going to look into some kind of therapy. Another best friend died of cancer in 2018 and honestly I think I'm still struggling with that in many ways, let alone all this other shit. It's been a fucking shit few years.

Sorry for the long post. Seemed the best place to put it. Big love to anyone else struggling right now. Talking to people definitely helps.

oh my word!! I am so sorry to hear this and sending virtual (((hugs))) and condolences your way xxx

Hoping to buy Bearded Theory tickets too as handed mine back in as needed the money

Small steps for me but buying gig tickets has made me happy 🙂

Hardly worth the big furore is it.

Ironically the faux rage has played into Boris’ hands and he can now hide away for the rest of the week while shit hits the fan re “freedom” day.

The cynic in me things the plan was to piss people off enough to say "f**k it" and get back to normal without precautions = boost the economy

Then as you say gets to hide whilst this sh*tshow unfolds further

App will get a few deletions too...

    It's such a mess 😞

Not a huge amount for me there but I do like the Mysterines and would say they're worth a listen. Can't vouch for them live as I've only discovered them in the past year!

They're really good live.. caught them at Cotton Clouds festival a few years ago, great band

One way to keep numbers down

Was just about to post this.... they really are just leaving us to it and gone "fuck it" we want our holiday break, if some of you get sick or die so be it 😞

  16. in other news you might survive covid but our transport secretary is going to increase the number of knackered HGV drivers on our roads.... H&S out the window Jesus!! (saying that I'm not sure transport company unions will allow this tbh)

Sadiq will almost definitely mandate it in London I reckon

I think it will be the same for here in Greater Manchester too give our case rates at the moment, most people (barr the anti-maskers) seem to be okay to keep wearing them in public transport settings if they can be removed elsewhere..

  18. This will be interesting to see how it will be enforced, I know quite a few airlines have already stated mask wearing is staying and I guess much easier to enforce.....

Personally I see a U-turn from Gov on Monday about use in public transport as we know they like to gauge public opinion 1st and so far there has been a leaning acceptance towards mask wearing in public transport settings

Fake SAGE is against giving vaccines to Africa

That's not what he is saying at all... read the rest of the thread and he's highlighting that the bunch in charge are saying one thing but doing another - not helping poorer countries by helping pharma protections. He's highlighting the utter BS this Government is coming out with..

Edit - I see some random member with 4 posts to their name since joining in 2018 has downvoted me for some reason... care to explain why???

Yeah I think they should allow people to go back full time if they want to, just as I think more flexibility should be embraced generally. Some places (both of ours included) have used the opportunity to downsize a bit though and have hot desking (my main employer has always been hot desking anyway and getting somewhere to sit could be tricky at times!).

I dread to think what our place will be doing, as they have a very bums on seat culture before covid and get the feeling the attitude of managers have not changed on that

However, they have brought in a 3rd party consultancy group to look a different working models and we all had to fill in a questionnaire so it will be interesting to see what they do.,,,

My manager isn't very flexible or reasonable, christ I complained that I wasn't happy still using my own laptop to do work so pushed for them to provide me one (answer was no) - so I was trying to reason it wasn't fair I'm not being provided equipment and was told "well you have perfectly good equipment in the office but you refused to go in" - how that works with the lockdown months I have no idea, but I just can't seem to have a reasonable conversation with my manager about this so I fully expect to be told to be back in the office by end of month 😞
