  1. Also got a ticket last night, so now dare to venture into threads on here!

Would be gutted with the changes mooted for Avalon. Always loved it's chilled "village fete" vibe, and was a lovely place to chill after hours watching bands until 3am in the cafe, usually very fun bands. I don't have the energy to battle to the SEC after headliners for the small amount of acts I'd be interested in and Avalon was always our default option if nothing else caught our fancy.

Last year was bad enough, the cafe ending at 12:30 and they wouldn't let you in after 10:30 even though you couldn't get to the SEC from there.

Where have you selected from? If it helps the tickets I’ve had from resale coach have always been late

Leeds. So I don't want it TOO late or I'll miss the festival 🤣

  3. I got tickets! Hurray!

However panic has now set in. We've had to get Thursday coach tickets for somewhere a 2 hour drive away, but I didn't realise you couldn't select a time when you booked. The small print says the bus could be any time and we won't find out until 30 days before the festival (too late to cancel). The problem being we only have babysitting for our toddler from Thursday - so if the coach leaves at like 7am, that'd mean we'd have to drop him off around 4am... which might not be possible...

    Someone reassure me!

    Jaded...

    the perfect sentiment.

Of course I want to go but the whole ticket getting process just has me wanting it to be over and done this weekend, so I can move on...

I had a great run from 2007 to 2019, that I always thought was down to my organisation and preparedness.. But (assuming the worst this weekend) missing 2 out of 3 will definitely have me moving closer to a "cant be arsed" attitude..

You're me except I had a start date of 2005 rather than 2007. Just don't seem to get a sniff nowadays, and like you say what I put down to "preparedness" previously might have just been luck. There's only me and my partner go, and we've only got one friend who helps us out on T-day, so moving forward unless we join a syndicate or something then it's going to be a much rarer event for us in future.

I'm going to try in the coach resale tonight, but with a toddler that needs babysitting while we're away (if we get tickets), and the nearest coach 2 hours drive away anyway (at day/times unknown until I get through to the booking screen) it's a bit of a logistical nightmare! But then there's always Sunday, and competitions... they just keep stringing you along!

Brothers competition cans are stocked in Morrisons and Tesco

Ah not in our Morrison's, but I do have a Tesco to check out now.

For someone who likes "proper cider" and doesn't like the super sweet berry ciders - which are the least awful cans to aim for?

  6. Anyone know of anywhere that sells Brothers cider around the Teesside area?

Not many Co-ops around me but I'll have to try and arrange a visit to one and keep an eye out for "promotional material"...

Do we know if the Brooklyn Pilsner has to be opened to access the code (i.e. under the ring pull)?

With regards plantair facititus have you tried seeing someone … I suffered it again for the the umpteenth time last year but had some inserts made and my stride examined also some trainers recommended. A bit costly but well worth it as I’ve not suffered since . Touch wood

Yeah seen a doctor, like 3 physios, podiatrist, muskulo-skeleto guy and a foot surgeon 😀 MRI scans don't show an *awful lot* wrong, and I'm doing ok at the moment, but I've got a tendency to relapse if I up the exercise (like fell walking in the Lakes).

Had some custom orthotics made by a private physio for £380, but was told by the podiatrist they were pointless so now got some NHS ones instead.

  8. I've got a one year-old now and really need to be realistic in what I can do / fit in, or it's just not going to happen.

In terms of hot-footing it around site, I was fine (albeit I doubt I would be in a m*ddy year...), but it's the standing still that does me in. So according to people on here, Pilates/building core strength is the way to go?

Is Pilates something that can be done at home? Whenever I do any kind of physio my form is always wrong, and I don't want to cause myself an injury - however, attending a class just isn't going to happen.

Ideally, is there a workout I can fit into 10 minutes? Which can then be extended if I find myself with more time/energy?

To complicate matters I have issues with my feet - combination of bursitis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, Haglund's deformity etc. Sounds mad eh! This will limit the amount I can do (if I don't want to risk a flare up) and certain exercises can aggravate it (in fact the physio gave me heel-raises to do for a couple of years before it was discovered for my particular condition they were likely to aggravate it rather than help).

A Stan is a super fan, obsessives type. Derived from Eminem's song of the same name.

The other one has some weird origin on here to do with Matt Bellamy dabbing downwards and was applied to a negative reaction (I bet you wish you hadn't asked) i.e. an act that was due to play and now hasn't, has is as dumb as me. Became annoying, got censored, best forgotten.

Cheers. Still don't understand d@bbing down still but after that I don't want to pursue it any further 😆

  10. We arrived on Thursday around 5pm and got shoved in pink 56, eventually got camped in Back House - that was a brutal walk as we'd decided to do it in one trip so we could enjoy the fun as soon as possible.

We finished pitching at 6:45 and set off straight away as we wanted to see Steve Knightley. Down the railway track we went and got caught in - as we now know - the Example crowd. Missed over half of Steve's set. Later we saw Mik Artistic at the Rocket Lounge. Popped to the toilet after he finished and had to queue for 15 minutes for the urinal.

Decided to explore Shangri-la before Guns of Navarone, but that was a no-go as there was a wall of people at Truth.

It was at this point absolutely knackered I thought I might be getting too old for this. Then it was fine for the rest of the weekend until Elton 😊

In response to the Friday mystery I can confirm that Hot Chip was nicely chilled. Had to pop out to the toilet and missed half a song. We were central and further forward than halfway. Walked back to my partner with ease.

  11. How annoying is the iPlayer site btw. I searched "Glastonbury Foo Fighters" and just "Foo Fighters" which returned no results. But on the main Glastonbury section if you click on "Trending" you find them there, but not under "Guitars". Similar with Cat Stevens. Why not just an A-Z of band names? I'm missing a few but don't know if that's because they weren't recorded or whether I just can't find them. Any ideas? (Some are Acoustic which I don't think is recorded?)

  12. They blocked it off the one night we headed there after headliners on Saturday night.

Its annoying as it's somewhere we sometimes like to hang out and chill after the madness, and usually catch something fun. Going through the one way system is the antithesis of chilling out and would remove it as an option for us moving forward

  13. Yeah - missed the old village fete kind of atmosphere.

Also - it's now behind the SE Corner one-way system much to my surprise. Went to see Track Dogs one night and was blocked from entry. My girlfriend can be really belligerent so she argued our way in eventually! - but poor Track Dogs were playing to an empty tent since no-one could get in!

  14. If anyone wanders over today, can you please report on how the area is now? Not getting on site until late Thursday unfortunately so unable to explore for myself.

Is it somewhere cool to hang out where you can get decent drink/scran if you get there too early for a band? Is it somewhere to hangout with interesting stuff to do after the headliners while you wait for crowds to disperse? I could potentially be there for 3 bands ending with Hot Chip on Friday, and I'd like to know whether I should minimise my time there or make the most of it - as it's likely to be only time I'll be there over the weekend

I was lucky enough to see them in Abu Dhabi - set list was massive, nearly 3.5 hours of tracks. At Glasto they are going to absolutely destroy it, and more. Wish I was there. Enjoy the festival everyone.

Avalon Inn is usually one of the more expensive bars on site.

Yes I seem to recall that. My usual spots to grab a drink are the real ale bar, the cider bus, Avalon Inn and Bimble Inn, so just trying to prepare myself!
