Yeah, this. Sounds like a person who forwards messages saying that you're not allowed say "Happy Christmas" any more.
-
oh, pure guess. Mainly because the last few lineup announcements have been on a Friday in March. At least one has been in the morning. International Women's Day too, which would be a decent gimmick if there's Dua, Shania and someone else (SZA/O-Rod?) on the top line of the poster (along with Coldplay). Not so much if it's Kings of Leon, Coldplay, The 1975 and Shania tbf.

Fair. I haven't been arsed looking at her dates, just going on her name being thrown about here. SZA to headline then, with a lot of "WHO???" comments on social media, thinkpieces about women headliners/new headliners in the pipeline, and a very small Pyramid crowd on the night. ........unless it's KOL and then there's lots of moaning about Glastonbury not taking chances on headliners. Would pull a bigger crowd in the field than SZA though.

SZA would pull a very small crowd by Pyramid headliner standards. Would probably pull a bigger crowd as a sub with less competition. The National would also pull a very small crowd by headliner standards, although I reckon a Glastonbury crowd is much closer demographically to a National fanbase, than a SZA fanbase. They don't have enough mainstream appeal to headline though, regardless of who's actually "on the ground" at Worthy Farm. O-Rod would pull a small crowd by headliner standards, but bigger than both. Has enough mainstream appeal to do it IMO. O-Rod headlining, The National Other headliner, SZA Pyramid sub feels like the right placement, if all are playing.

Saying Stevie Nicks is a headliner is like saying David Byrne should be a headliner because he does loads of Talking Heads songs in his set.
-
Smoke Detector is a must have for all live shows going forward.
-
Little Simz subbing the Pyramid, let alone headlining, is the most absurd post in here today.
-
We don't know that. It might have been going to happen, according to someone on discord (who tbf has a good track record). For all they (and we) know, there might have just been some initial eqnuiries and never went any further. The man hasn't got any gigs announced this year, anywhere in the world, and hasn't done a proper standalone concert since 2019....
-
and why didn't they tell us what the "useful information" was that they gave before? Would give them a bit of credibility.
-
Pearl Jam could, technically, squeeze in the Friday too I think?
-
I'm not that surprised by KOL's sales, they are/were massively mainstream popular, but was definitely surprised by how little GNR have sold.
-
For curiosity's sake, I did a quick look at album sales in the UK. KOL's Only By The Night has sold nearly as much as all of GnR's albums put together. Appetite For Destruction: 1.9m GNR Lies: 100k Use Your Illusion 1: 400k Use Your Illusion 2: 400k The Spaghetti Incident: 100k Chinese Democracy: 300k Total: 3.2m Only By The Night: 3m Once you add in their other albums, KOL vastly outsell GnR in the UK.

They're kind of past it, so would be a weak headliner. Only way I see them headlining these days is if GFL are seriously stuck or someone backed out late. But they're headlining other festivals all over the world, and doing their own massive gigs, so Other headliner or Pyramid sub would be a massive step down for them, so doubt they'd accept. Most likely just not playing Glastonbury at all, unless it's a secret set.
-
The post was asking about how people would feel if KOL came out for a secret set on the Pyramid, when people were expecting The Killers. As @NorthernSoul52 points out, they've shitloads of hits, so people would probably be happy, by and large.
-
An act with broad mainstream appeal and several big hits? Probably be pretty good tbf
-
oh yeah sorry, I missed the Friday mention.
-
Most of them are rock/grunge/post-hardcore type acts, no? Might get a few pop up for daytime Woodsies/Park slots.
-
LCD subbing the Pyramid makes most sense to me, now that they're not playing WH.
-
I don't see why it's an anonymous "source", and not an official spokesperson, if they're not playing.
-
That 2017 sub slot was fine, would have been a whole lot better if they didn't play 4 unreleased (and 1 recently released) songs though. A 60min festival main stage sub-headliner set is a time for the catchy hits*, not playing new stuff. *or at least whatever the closest to a catchy hit is that The National have.
-
Stevie Nicks solo is never, ever, ever headlining the Pyramid.
-
Just to reiterate what has been said above, they're not on the Primavera lineup this year, which as been out months, and even if they were, they sure as hell wouldn't be headlining.
-
Posted in the acts touring thread, but Deftones are out, Chino doing a Crosses tour after they play Primavera, including Fri/Sun of Glastonbury weekend. https://www.instagram.com/p/C3FRaVKiaqt/?hl=en
