Detailed diary style review from me if you can be bothered to read. Sorry, it’s quite long!
TLDR: I had a great time 😉
Great review, but you're wrong about Melyn Melin 😉
First I'd seen them and was easily the most fun set of the weekend!

Strong rumour on site is that TBA is Snapped Ankles
Far out 13.15 Saturday?

So seeing that clash finder has confidence man on at 1.00am, does that mean it's fair to say it'll be a DJ set like they're doing at Glastonbury this year?

clashfinder has confidence man at 1.00 in the morning, surely not?
-
surely they'd let you buy one of the door? my son bought a student ticket last year not thinking that as he'd graduated by the time of the festival his ticket was the invalid. But they were happy for him to pay the additional £50 at the gate so surely they'd do likewise for an infant who they can hardly turn away!

I'm going to guess there isn't a final headliner and they're going to bump someone already on the lineup
what makes you think that?

Looks like final headliner could be Mac DeMarco.
Summer tour just announced (https://www.nme.com/news/music/mac-demarco-announces-2023-world-tour-dates-including-london-residency-3432192). Although there is a two-week gap after his final UK show, this would explain the delay in final headliner announcement.
They’ve been making their way through the headliners from 2020 (Caribou in 2021 and Kiwanuka in 2022), so this probs makes the most sense with an announcement from GM a few weeks after his tour goes on sale.
God that would be so uninspiring wouldn't it?

I don't see why some people playing an American festival in July means they're more likely to play a British festival in August, but one of them actually is as Buck Meek is playing. That he's coming over but Big Thief aren't despite GM being a headliner short leads me to suspect they're on a promise to End Of The Road, having been intended to headline there in 2020 and 2021, but are coming off the road after their US dates end in early August.
would love to big thief here but not headliner size shirley?
-
yeah i get that rival sons appear to be playing but they're surely not headliner size??
-
no rumours on who the missing headliner(s) could be then?
-
I see Baxter Dury is doing a tour again this year, add him to the list of acts i am disappointed to be missing from the green man line up.
Others include Suede, Caroline Polachek, yeah yeah yeahs, big moon, big thief, John Grant, Echo & the Bunnymen, she drew the gun and the Cribs. Still satisfied mind but... 😀

Warmduscher and Squid are confirmed in one way or another, so that's a third of your 6 already!
true, although I'm sure a lot of people aren't too familiar with them?
-
is this the least known/ leaked festival line up ever then? roll on the morning and fingers crossed I've heard of at least half a dozen acts over the weekend!

It's likely they'll also all be playing solo songs in the set, as they did during their late 2021 US tour.
(I'm doing what I'd been cautioning against and just assuming a huge name, aren't I? Call it rebound from the EOTR forum's Future Islands Wars)
doing some solo songs in the set changes everything though! has phoebe played GM before?

Yeah I think BG's supergroup status (particularly for this crowd) could sit them up top quite comfortably.
have they even released an album yet though?

Boygenius and Little Simz nailed on I think personally now. Third is a bit of a mystery… a sensible guess would probably be Bonobo or Jamie XX, but I’m hoping not
Boygenius cant be headliners though surely?

oh man there are so many possibilities, roll on next week eh?
previously i was thinking first aid kit and yeah yeah yeahs were virtually nailed but i guess that ain't the case now, what's the educated guess for headliners now?
I'd love caroline polachek and big thief on the list as i regret missing them both at glasto last year.

I see Suede have been announced for beautiful days this year, guess that counts them out of greenman then? 😞

Both in the States. Bjork is the only one I can think that fits the bill that has dates announced
doesn't the National US tour finish on the 18th though? Loads of time to get here 😉

Got a mate from the area, moved away now but she still goes back to see her family sometimes. She's heard info from some locals, and I can't share it yet, but let's just say GM are definitely punching above their weight this year! One of the headliners wouldn't look out of place headlining somewhere like the Other Stage, Primavera or All Points East....
prodigy then? 😉

Going to see them again in Cardiff Castle in July and really hoping the setlist is as extensive as the recent entries on setlist.fm. can I really expect 25+ songs??
