  1. We've been taking our babby since she was 1 pretty much, she is 7 this year and honestly doesn't have that much of an impact other than costing a bloody fortune in ice cream. We tend to let her let her know the mornings are hers and she can do all the kids stuff until 1-2pm until the music starts then she watches the music with us. Works well. Obviously helps that she likes listening to music. Think its such a great experience for kids to be seeing people at their best
  2. You should be fine...the campsites aren't far from the car park anyway (compared to most festivals) and when we have been never feels like you are on each others shoulders. Expect a lot of people won't be coming until the Friday anyway if they have kids that haven't got a place in the Bearded school.
  3. A few festivals are very strict that your kids have to be with you if you are pitching in family...Bearded tends to be more relaxed. I'll have a copy of their tickets with me just in case. To be honest as much as I love having the babby at festivals, really looking forward to the Thursday, just having a day to wander round on my own, drink, talk to randoms...
  4. Its an absolutely fantastic weekend with the friendliest crowd. Great site, very easy to get round, huge choice of beers. You won't regret it!
  5. I wanted to start packing at the weekend until I saw the look my other half gave me then quickly went off the idea! Anybody gone ahead of their family before, had any issues pitching in family if the family aren't actually with you? I am going Thursday and they are joining me Thursday. Got to make sure I don't overdo it Thursday and write Friday off.
  6. Must sees-. Flaming Lips (best live band in the world...what a way to end the weekend) Bob Vylan (that is gonna go off in the Woodland! See them a couple of times last year and will be seeing them the Saturday before Bearded in Brum) Dubioza Kolektiv (hopefully with the thunderstorm that accompanied them the last time they did Bearded) Pizzatramp (again, brilliant last time at Bearded) Frank Turner (not a big fan but always really enjoy him live) Gonna try and make more of an effort to get off me arse and go and see more stuff I don't know rather then sitting in the sunshine sampling the ales) Cannot. Fucking. Wait.
  7. Even at full price think Bearded is great value for money in terms of line up, being able to take own booze in etc. I tend to only drink my own booze at the campsite...with the great range of ale on at Bearded last thing I want to be doing is drinking warm supermarket beer out of a can. Genuinely cannot wait..such a great weekend.
  8. How easy is this process? For Beautiful Days last year used Seetickets...absolute nightmare...got the tickets literally the day before we left to go. So much easier getting them this far in advance. Can't wait...great line up, lovely people, and in a couple of days we can actually say its next month.
  9. We quite fancied this one but was working out pretty pricey...Bob Vylan though...might continue trying to persuede my other half!
  10. Annoys me when they have a limit on the amount of booze you can take into the campsite. Been doing festivals 30 years and not sure when that started being a thing...for a 3 day festival 6 cans is only 2 a day which is only one before you go in the arena and one at the tent after...not a lot really. EDIT...just seen its 12 cans or 6 cans and 750ml spirits. The 12 cans is a decent allowance...not sure security could be arsed checking that closely though. Do fancy this one though...might keep my eyes open and see if they do any of them flash 2-4-1 sales.
  11. Worth investing in some of them vaccuum bags for your bedding/clothes..takes up less space in the car and less space in the trolley plus if its pissing down keeps everything dry until the tent is up
  12. Our set up now is a double camp bed, with an airbed on top, a quilt on top of that, us, then a quilt on top of us. We keep really warm and remarkably comfortable. Being there for 4 nights its definitely worth the effort...a goods night sleep puts you in much better mood the next day. Approaching 50 now so can't be doing with sleeping in a mat in a sleeping bag, I wouldnt be able to walk for weeks!
  13. Think out of the bands in orange on the poster only Shame, Self Esteem, Snapped Ankles and Working Men's Club are on the main stage, the rest have either been confirmed for the Signature Brew or 'dance' stage I think.
  14. Looks like most the stuff I want to see will be on the Signature Brew band anyway. Will be barely anything on the main stage I want to see!
  15. Yeah, absolutely spot on. Would be amazed if this sells put, certainly can't imagine many people booking early birds next year if it still goes ahead.
  16. Given how early it is in the year you'd think they would have a pretty clear run at most bands as not likely to be booked at other festivals the same weekend. I am wondering if they lost money last year and are trying to recoup some of that? They seemed surprised at how many people took kids, and they didn't charge for kids at all last year. Even if 250 tickets went to kids out of the 4000 that would have left a hole in the region of £25,000 which for a new festival would be a sizable amount I guess.
  17. Decent camp chair for in the arena, and if you are camping one of them plastic loos for in your tent. Its a brilliant festival...you'll love it!
  18. Wow...none of us saw that coming. Would be absolutely stunned if this comes even close to selling out.
  19. Just asked them if they plan on changing the policy on '4 drinks in the campsite'...will advise if I get a reply
  20. Don't change anything...if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and Bearded is probably one of the very few things in this world at the moment that ain't broke. Took me bloody decades to find a festival I love, my daughter loves and my other half doesn't hate and don't fancy having to start looking again from scratch if it changes.
  21. I think it will have to be a big (ish) name if they want to get the tickets shifting. Can't imagine anybody looking at the current line up and thinking 'I must buy a ticket for that!'. Supergrass/Suede/Pixies/James. Frank Turner maybe? Hoping for a bit more strength on the undercard as well...hard to see how the current line up would fill a main stage line up. As an example, really like Shame but they are 3rd on the main stage at Bearded, and Working Mens Club 2nd on the 2nd stage, and they are both now 10k capacity I believe (plus loads better headliners for Bearded). I know its not comparing like with like exactly but it should be a fair indication. Plus I am guessing Bigfoot get a shitload from the bars which is why they are trying to restrict how much booze we take (including into the campsite which is fucking nuts!) Loads of stuff that would look good on the Signature Brew stage though. Hopefully won't be as underwhelmed at 10am tomorrow as I was with the first announcement...was really up for this but change of venue, limiting booze you can take into the campsite and largely pisspoor first line up announcement have put me right off.
  22. Dunno...I used to drink in some right shitholes!
  23. We went last year and prebooked for this. Beer was really reasonably priced...basically same as a decent pub
