Probably Swansea or Cardiff /Anfield/Huddersfield/London Stadium

London Stadium is way too ambitious as that is where the real stadium bands play. MK stadium for the “London” date if their stadium tour is a real thing.

Sadly no they basically said the tour they have booked is it.

Haha yup. I think if you take away all the rumours and just look at who has indicated they are touring Europe next year and are also missing UK dates from their European tours this year it gives you 2 obvious bands - Metallica and Slipknot. Which when you factor in fact that Copping has supposedly had the bands booked for ages makes a lot of sense

Def Leppard are touring next year which includes festival dates too…

Growing up as a metal fan the philosophy to me was always not giving a **** and doing what you want yet that philosophy these days seems to be more at home in the pop world rather than metal.

The mad thing is Bloodstock which is meant to be the super niche metal festival is oddly more embracing of acts as they just go crazy for everything. Mid-sized festivals are always the best.

The logic in this thread baffles me, probs why I’ve not been to the fest in many a years with all the bull**** inherent rules attached to the logic in here.

With Download the rules are very easy, unless they were on the poster the previous year everyone can’t plays as they are a R&L type pop act or they haven’t proved themselves yet. The only exception is if they have played Monsters of Rock.

Many of Horror isn't a pop song just because someone did a pop version of it, let's not be silly here, it's a rock ballad.

Also vice versa Sheryl Crow and Miley Cyrus have both done covers of Nothing Else Matters and Sweet Child Of Mine without Metallica and Guns n Roses suddenly becoming pop bands.

I could understand if a black metal fan was calling Biffy pop but Gazza is lightweight when it comes to heavy music though.

Me too, I may have seen them more than Linkin Park and I don't need to introduce my liking for them over the years. This is my point.

I went on the Sunday you idiot lol! I was also at a camping festival this weekend just gone. Yes I don't go to a festival for a weekend that isn't to my taste....shock horror. We aren't all stupid to believe that you should go to a festival that you don't want to lol.

One of the biggest reactions of the night in the smallest headliner crowd that a fair portion walked away from already. And did you just compare Many of Horror to Sweet Child O Mine and November rain?! They are rock ballads, not pop ballads!

There is one this in being bias sticking up for your band, there is another in just being silly.

I did find Korn boring but I've never been a fan and just gave them a go whilst there as I've seen The Darkness before. I didn't like Alestorm that much tbh lol. And yes, I was very up for Sunday, it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but I was pretty hyped.

You can't have it both ways and say Novemeber Rain is a rock ballad but Many Of Honor is pop balland. They are as poppy as each and both rather tame to other metal ballads like A Deathless Song by Parkway Drive or Cradle Of Filth's Nymphetamine

They closed the festival with one of their biggest songs. A song that got one of the biggest reactions of the night, by the way. Not that you’d know because you don’t go to festivals, you just come on here and state that their lineups aren’t exactly to your tastes enough.

Nothing Else Matters, Beth, I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing, Sweet Child O Mine. November Rain. All ballads. Master of Puppets, Aces High? What a stupid comparison, eh.

Gazza did actually go for the day, I was amazed as he praised Alestom but called Korn boring.

Despite not being a metal fan Gazza was more up for Download than me in fairness, I looked at the clashfinder and said sod that as all the interesting bands were on at the same time which is what does my head in about Download.

But they headlined previously in 2017 or something, after Sonisphere had died. This was returning headline set.

Yeah, I meant in 2017. They headlined Soni in 2011 which was 6 years afterwards and at that point Download had already stepped up booking more and more olders bands.

  9. On Biffy; I just see it as Download fucking up and waiting too long to have them as a headliner. If they had got Biffy to headline the year after Soni, Reading or even before then Downloaders would have cheered and fondly remembered them as one of their bands who proved themselves at Download but as they have gone off and done the rounds at other festivals they are just seen as another R&L indie type band despite their long history with the fest. Headlining Download off Opposites and Only Revolutions would have helped too.

That and they headlined once Download started doubling down on the same ol' old bookings so the regulars have become even more insular with their taste now.

BMTH as headliners - do they play old or new?

Current setlist but a few old songs like Diamonds Aren't Forever come back.

I'm curious if Download backs Bring Me by booking a few acts like You Me At Six, Deez Nuts, Babymetal, Nova Twins, Evanescence, Cradle Of Filth etc throughout the fest so they can have guests on to really smash it.

If the four day sticks it'd be a good way to promote "weak" headliners on Thursday or Friday while the other days cater to the standard headliners

    2023: Metallica/BMTH/Metallica/MCR

    2024: Ghost/SOAD/GNR/A7X

    2025: Slipknot/Twenty One Pilots/Rammstein/Def Leppard

2026: *Unknown band that exploded in popularity*/Iron Maiden/Muse/RATM

    and~ so on.

I'd be shocked if Download goes 4 days from now on even if there's a weak headliner. They struggle with just 3 headliners every year already, even next year they are a headliner short and need Metallica to play twice.

  12. 21 minutes ago, thewayiam said:

Fair. So you've got Metallica twice, Slipknot and BMTH/PD both getting the same length is all I can think. To add fuel to this, I've also seen this guys Instagram and he's at Download about two rows away. Unless the two Metallica dates isn't correct then this is my guess. It's unlikely to get me there all weekend though.

Why would Bring Me get the same length as Parkway? Bring Me are legit headliners and should be treated as such.

No, I read all the posts on here so will obviously come across yours.

Just surprised that you were still on the Quo myth since the last time I asked you could only find one single person who suggested it, who later admitted that it was a joke.

I suppose if you keep repeating it often enough, some will start to consider it fact.

The suggestions for Download are outdated as it is, don’t make it worse.

The way you go on about them you make it sound like Status Quo aren't a Download band. lol

  14. Ah my favourite part of the Download discussion. When talking about any new band possibly headlining Download they are either labelled not big enough or a R&L act so they should book AC/DC, Metallica and Guns n Roses instead as that's more realistic.

Just get 100 gecs and be done with it.

I’ve got no interest in seeing them at Reading this year but the idea of watching a stunned Download crowd trying to process what the fuck 100 Gecs are actually sounds fun.

How has this thread swung from “Status Quo headline or nothing” to “let’s get Chvrches in”? 😂

The sad thing is Chvrches playing was deliberate talk of curveballs that probably won’t happen whilst Status Quo headlining wasn’t.

Indie bands are not going to play 3rd down at Download when they can headline any one of 50 other festivals and not have to do weeks interviews of double denim media asking them if they 'were surprised to be offered the gig' in a condescending you don't belong here tone.

The thing is just because a band isn’t metal or punk it doesn’t make them indie either. Like IDLES are not indie, punk or metal.

Alt rock is a massive genre and now with a big hole to fill as R&L are moving away from rock a lot of these acts haven’t got a fest to play and cross over far more than you would think if people actually listened to them.

    NBT are whack, bro.

I’m playing Devil’s advocate here but if they subbed before Architects, Shikari etc. I’d understand the backlash 😂

Yep but we are talking curveballs and it is probably the over reaction I could see to try and make the line up more young and mainstream when they could of just booked IDLES instead.

Are they that big?! I will admit to ignorance - last I saw them was over half-a-decade ago supporting Muse.

They played The 02 arena not too long ago.

If they were a metal band they would be in for a shout as Download headliners at this point.
