t seems like this might well be the final go around for the Knot. Copping must be punching the air right now.

I would have thought Copping would be shitting himself with Slipknot retiring/going on hiatus plus Rammstein moving to stadiums as their shows won't fit at festivals anymore and the likes of Ozzy, KISS, Aerosmith etc retiring he's gonna be even more fucked for headliners now. Bring Me are gonna have to headline every other year now. lol

In any case a new album! 🙂

I’m torn. If the Metallica x2 rumours are BS for Download I can see them slotting in there, especially if they’ve got four slots to fill. Paramore songs still get played at rock/emo club nights, would be a super progressive booking for DL.

Ah who am I kidding they’re gonna book System, Slipknot and Aerosmith again aren’t they?

System and Slipknot the same year is too ambitious for Download. It's gonna be Def Leppard, Pantera 50.5% Proof, Whitesnake and Faith No More!

    Also hopefully final question

Does this work like glasto aka when you're in you're in? Or are there gates with checks so you can't walk around with loads of booze on you in the arena?

As long as they don't change the rules this year there's a certain amount of booze you can bring in once you get there but you can take your own drinks with you wherever.

There is no need for every Download headliner to be a stadium filler. Download isn't going to sell out regardless.

They have got to give other bands the chance. Andy books the festival as if Sonisphere is still a thing and Reading certainly isn't making a dent.

If Sonisphere was still a thing then Live Nation would be pouring money into Download to try and kill Soni off like they did last time.

Download is backup by Live Nation, they pulled in AC/DC. Live Nation is a massiver promoter!

They can definitely afford FF and Green Day and such like.

You’re missing the point or only read half my post. For all the talk about only stadium headliners should headline Download there’s a lack of stadium headliners actually playing but still there is this expectation they should play resulting in these boring repeated headliners like Def Leppard who are grandfathered in despite not being stadium acts themselves. There’s a big need to move on from this idea of only stadium bands so more interesting acts can headline and be accepted.

Apart from Rammstein who have just done a Stadium tour.

Fair point although they have only just started playing stadiums and two dates at smaller stadiums is way off them being in the same league as a Foo Fighters type stadium band.

If I were in Copping's shoes I'd attempt to get at least one band that has never headlined, every year. Whether that be new "are they big enough" bands like BMTH/Ghost or bands like Green Day/Foo Fighters.

The other headliners could be the same ol' reliable dad rock as long as one day has a brand new headliner.

It’s all well and good thinking Download getting Foo Fighters, Green Day or whoever is the solution but the reality is Download either can’t afford them (apart from Guns n Roses I don’t think they have had a band that can do a stadium tour in the UK for a decade now) or they are just very shit at negotiating/convincing bands to play.

Turn up for BMTH. Chances are you won't have an alternative anyway. If you don't and unless you 100% already know you absolutely do not like them, which is totally fair enough, don't be a mard-arse and go back to your tent early, show a new headliner some support so 2024 isn't Maiden / Aerosmith / Def Leppard. I wanna see that crowd packed out.

You’d be surprised by how many people that can be turned by them live even if they don’t like their music. I took my missus to see Bring Me who mainly went for the free bar since we were given a VIP box and she really enjoyed their show despite not being a fan. The same thing happened when me and a bunch of mates went to APE, we got free tixs and they wanted to see IDLES, RTJ and Nothing But Thieves but came away impressed with Bring Me.

I look forward to the day when Download brings in new headliners regularly so I can start calling potential new headliners shit for their horrible music rather than having to defend the same acts for the idea of having someone new headline because the old guard only accepts the same old shit.

But you did, you chat bollocks about how picky I am yet Download costs are simply not worth what they book for me...end of!

I've not hyped myself for an impossible lineup at all. I've said if you're thinking all out then that selection is the one. I'm only arsed about the Slipknot day if those 3 with Bring Me are the others so it can be as heavy and as off the radar for me as it wants. I'd rather any bands I want to see there be at Slam Dunk before it.

But you are picky though. 😜

Lets rewind, someone suggested two main stages with acts like Pantera and Five Finger headlining the second stage so you said that's not going for it as those headliners are only sub-sized or something along those lines. I find the idea of having 8 headliners the size of Metallica, Slipknot etc on both stages very unrealistic for various reasons and going for it could be something as simple as they have added an extra day then it's business as usual for the rest of the line up rather than it's gonna be the strongest Download line up of all time which is all I am saying.

  10. Guns n Roses? They have a Glasgow stadium show to do after cancelling it this year so a festival next year seems likely whilst they are over but Glasto doesn't pay, Download is booked up already, probably too big for IOW and they had a falling out with R&L last time which leaves BST and is the sort of older act that they can sell all the extra premium shit for.

  11. With Guns n Roses having to do a Glasgow show to make up for cancelling it this year I’d laugh if Download asks Bring Me to sub now as Guns are available. It would piss them right off just like what happened last time with Rammstein.

  12. So on the slim chance that Ozzy doesn't push back his gigs again does that rule out Pantera then? His UK tour is during Download so it means Zakk Wylde is busy. I suppose there's an off day from the tour they could do Download and maybe book Anthrax so Charlie is there too and Download can have Pantera as Euro exclusive but I don't know if that gives them the rehearsal time needed.

Are you still pulling this chain lol. I apologize massively if the fact I'm not a heavy metal/thrash metal/metal core or whatever rock fan means I can't justify spending over £300 on a weekend ticket lol. You don't personally know anything about my everyday circumstances whether it be finances or whatever. I had more fun than I've had at most Download's I've attended at a festival costing a fraction of the price including camping along with the people I met and that's completely my choice and my view to be allowed that. From that, 7/8 of us are all going back next year together. £20 averagely a day, yes with different acts but if they are acts overall I'm going to have more fun watching then it's way worth it. Showers and toilets are great to boot and the arena is within 5 minutes walk away.

Good for you but I said nothing at all about that.

I just said to keep your expectations in check and to not drink the going all out kool aid since you were taking about how someone’s predictions is not going all out enough for you, this type of thinking will only lead to disappointment after hyping yourself for an impossible line up you made up for yourself.

  14. 44 minutes ago, thewayiam said:

You say you fully believe they've gone all out and then put this prediction in consisting of a double main stage with sub headliners on it.

You know Mx2, RATM and Slipknot would be the option seen as going all out yes?

Going all out means different things to different people. It could mean they have put an extra day on, it could mean stronger headliners, it could mean an amazeballs undercard or it could just simply mean it was the buzz words they used to hype the festival. I wouldn’t read too much into it as exceptions aren’t likely to be met if people get too carried away especially you who is ridiculously picky when it comes to festivals.

Also I find them saying they going out this year funny as it implies they half arse it every year. Lol

  15. I can imagine the outrage if Parkway Drive headlined over Pantera 50.5% Proof from the old guard.

It’s odd as if Pantera were on the poster it wouldn’t motivate me at all to get a tix but if  I did go I’d probably see them.

I assume you need to pay with an American Express card for this pre sale...?

Yep, I just gave it a try and got to the payment however it wont accept my card as it's not American Express.

It's pain in the arse as I has Amex at one point but got rid of it when I changed banks.

Quite shocking to see how many people on that official forum automatically filter anyone not as left as them into "far right" as if it's only one of the other. Literally exactly what that Disturbed song is talking about and I can't believe I'm defending fucking Disturbed of all bands. They'll be pretty shocked when they see what someone ACTUALLY far right thinks compared to the incredibly mild take of "people online should stop being horrible to each other"

The funniest party is James "don't tread on me" Hetfield is probably headlining two nights and nobody bats an eye 😂

Yeah, if we ignore Cancel Culture isn't really the thing people think it is for a moment as a concept it's not something I agree with as it ignores being able to repent or rehabilitation which are more lefty values than the right idea of Law & Order/punishing people to make yourself feel better so it's fucking odd thing to get you knickers in a twist anyway.

In any case it's all bollocks. I'm gonna listen to Babymetal now since there's nothing controversial about them! 😜

  18. It's entirely possible to be left wing and have some right wing views or vice versa as the world is full of greys rather than just black and white. You can be pro-Brexit and anti-nationalism or anti-lockdown but pro-vaccination or pro-conservative and pro-gay (probably because of how much they buggered each other in their private schools 😜 ) so just because they are against one induvial thing it doesn't make them an alt right white power c**t.

Although some members of System Of A Down coming out as right wing is a fucking odd one.
