Have done the G with both kids as infants. It aint easy/straightforward but you will look back on those years fondly.
- Get a sling and ear defenders and practice using both together starting asap!
- Ensure a partner is fully onboard, Glasters as a single parent would be too tough imo
- Procure a decent stroller/buggy with the biggest wheels you can get
- Waterproof picnic blanket/brolly

I'm still confused, are you saying there isn't enough?
Yes.

How so?
Reflection of what I value and the festival's direction diverging. Not to sound glib but I feel sorry for kids going to Glasters who like guitar music nowadays. I'm old, ignore me, honestly. Its like asking a pterosaur their opinion on taxation policy.

This thread is impossibly grim.

hehe im the same. 20 years ago knew vast maj of the performers announced for late night area. Now im sat here chuckling cuz Ellis Dee is probably the best thing announced so far across any stage.

I had to read the OP back a few times. Did he actually say they were hoping to leave their kids with someone? Surely not.
We did family camping in Cockmill last time out and although there was a bit of chat between neighbours it was pretty quiet at night and not really any round is sat drinking with people from other tents.
He's clarified above in fairness.
Agree with you that there isnt much socialising. If youre stuck at the tent putting kids to bed whilst others are out for the evening, prolly best to put the nut down too. Unlikely that peeps are standing around family camping boozing.

Enormo queues at the cafe next to Wicket. Nice indoor seating tho - v helpful for those with tiny ones. Lockups next door to cafe also. I was really pro-Cockmill back in the day but with William's Green's demise the area isnt quite so attractive anymore.

Highly likely that I will be taking my one year old this year so probably going to camp in the family area. I have a few queries to anyone who's camped there in recent years:
- How quickly does it fill up? We have a fairly large 6 man tent, more than likely be arriving slightly later on the Wednesday.
- Are there any additional facilities? Showers / toilets /etc - or are kids expected to use long drops like anyone else. He'll still be in nappies thankfully but I imagine the long drops are actually quite dangerous for small humans.
- What is the overall vibe? We have plenty of friends going but we are the only ones with a child so hoping we might meet some others in the same boat and mums and dads can take turns on who gets to stay out late, and who stays at the campsite while little ones sleep.
- Wicket has lots of room. You'll have no issue arriving on the Wednesday.
- Toilets are well maintained and respected.
- Vibe is good. People watch out for each other. Not sure about the level of cooperation you suggest above however. Would really doubt you're gonna get people to look after each others kids.

Toyah and Robert will be fun in there. Sign me up.

Bootlegs headlining is equiv of putting Beans in the Avalon or Fatboy on the Other. Its lazy.

Sza is arguably the biggest headliner

Was thinking that over the weekend, feels like it might be a wet one this year for sure. WHEN WILL IT STOP RAINING!
Think it might even out actually. I'm a doom-monger usually (vet of 97/05/07/16).

I find the need to temper people's honest disappointment even more tedious.

Was the quality of the sound in 2017 technical, atmospheric or a heavenly concoction of both? Amongst the purist, juiciest sounding live shows ive experienced anywhere. Cant just have been the PA.
-
Paranoid London/Marc Ribbilet/Flying Mohito Brothers (of course may all be added - preferably on Sat evening)
Yousef Dayes and Michael Rother (think its wild theyve not booked either)
Ohsees/Underworld/Smile/Patti/Weller/Khruangbin (would have hugely improved mid-card and could have headlined Woodsies/Park)
Anything from the Cross The Tracks or Wide Awake line ups (where i've not spotted an overlap apologies but was so keen to see Neal Francis this year on the farm)
Truthfully tho, can't get my head round Springsteen not playing, given his proximity that weekend and his presence in 2022.

TBH Friday last year was looking bleak as f**k until the Saw Doctors got announced for the Acoustic Stage.
Can fully imagine you misty-eyed up the front for "To Win Just Once".

Sat night shitpocalypse. Theyve taken Williams Green away too. Whenever Muse play thats where I hide.
A glum buzz, folks, not gone lie.
-
Could really do with Orbital moving into a headliner spot for Sat night.
Coldplay
Disclosure
Jessie Ware
Gossip
Peggy GouThis is a brutal Sat night otherwise.
-
2008 was ace. A tonne of indie landfill but heaps of memorable stuff. Jazzworld was superb. Eddy Grant for example - quintessential Glasto performance.

Woodsies and Other both weak as piss. Im a little cold on the Park also tbh. Peggy Gou? Really? Whole hill there to mooch their way through the nanana tune? Fontaines are the pits and booking Orbital 30 years after their debut to go on 2nd last before two-tunes-and-the-truth dirge like London Grammer is berzerk. Rest of the stage's billing is vanilla af.

The lack of Williams Green a real pisser upon proceedings.

Very much 2016 vibes. Bugger all headlining but a strong under card.
Aka worst glasters of a generation.
Embrace missing out or hideaway?

Last year first i'd missed since 2003. Go to a couple shows over the weekend. Watch a few bits on telly. Its no biggie, honestly, this year looks like a goody to miss.
