  1. another one that was bang on the money with the BST names and dates from that source. Gotta mean Stevie is happening.
  2. I think was a combination of things. Following Katy Perry was hard because she had wall to wall pop bangers and then being before Foo Fighters probably is fine but not really their crowd. I know I've said this before but I also think it was a misjudged setlist from them. Anyway - Other stage headliner should right that wrong.
  3. Even better. I went Coldplay over LCD last time so happy to go the other way if it works out like that this year.
  4. Cool, Although that is going to be an annoying clash for me then if they are up against dua lipa.
  5. Are you taking the fact that LCD system aren't an exclusive at All Points East and are in Ireland earlier in the week as the reasoning or have you heard anything else?
  6. Yeah, that was the issue last year for Japanese breakfast. I would imagine it is a bigger risk to take for a stage headliner + more equipment.
  7. I think someone posted on here a few weeks ago that they were hanging out with someone in their production or stage crew and they aren't doing anything after the Royal Albert Hall show. Checks out because there aren't any other gigs announced. I previously thought they were a shoe in for other stage headliner but it doesn't look like they are going to play this year.
  8. I'm the other way round and think that they have kept getting better for each subsequent album. Dogrel was fine but preferred the earlier versions of the singles. Anyway, different strokes for different folks 😀. I agree that there is less light on the albums after dogrel.
  9. Yes I'm actually quite envious of someone discovering the national at this point, so much great stuff. Last 2 albums are top tier national albums for sure. Some of the tracks are among the best they have done. I happily accept that there are some tracks you could probably lose between the 2 of them though. Those are now the albums I reach for when I want to listen to the national (probably because I have done the other albums to death).
  10. I don't think it is impossible that they are 3rd down. They are headlining Latitude this year and that is usually equivilant to about 3rd down on Pyramid.
  11. Ahh yeah you are right. I was really close so didn't realise, looks fairly sparse from back here 🙂 Makes sense if they were up against Diana Ross + They had toured loads that year.
  12. Yeah, classic case of a site reporting a big act as headlining who is just going to be playing. No way in a million years is Shania Twain headlining.
  13. Jungle has been discussed on here widely. Be interested if Fontaines is right, could be, but I don't know that Park feels right after later afternoon Other stage with a big crowd last time. It isn't that implausable but I thought they would be a Woodsies headliner or maybe Other Stage again.
  14. Yes for sure, but in the absence of anything else. I mean, it makes a welcome change not to be having some of the circular arguments we have 😀
  15. Album wise they are very consistent from Alligator onwards. Alligator and Boxer are my 2 favourites. I would start with High Violet though as that has several big moments on which can be amazing live. I'm not sure what they will do from a setlist perspective because they mix it up a lot. I would expect quite a few from the last 2 albums though so worth getting familiar with them. If you look on setlist.fm you will see the songs that often get an outing.
  16. Yeah, I look at it as, if it is going to be genuine then there isn't going to stuff on there which is wrong. So they either have genuinely heard from someone but it's wrong (because that person is either making it up or has got it incorrect) Or They are just making it up themselves. Either way if they are claiming it's a "leak" then it isn't if stuff on there can't happen. Also it's a bit of a grab bag of stuff why would you have these specific things across the whole festival? Usually legit info is on one or a couple of acts or relating to one particular stage.
  17. Yeah don't know why but I don't think this is real. I expect lots of those names to be there but just looks like a load of very plausible names to me. Most people on here could pull a list like this together.
  18. Ahh good knowledge, I hadn't appreciated they were a primavera European exclusive. Yeah the secret slot previously was an additional one wasn't it at the park early before they played the pyramid later on. Shame, always enjoy them live but looks like they are in a touring mood so likely they will play some dates in the UK next year.
  19. Massive American tour announced by vampire weekend. You could look at the dates 2 ways. The optimistic would be that actually there is a GSH. They could be there. The second would be, it's a massive US tour and they are just having a breather in the middle. I don't know. The 2 new tracks are great and enjoyed much more than most the stuff from the last album. So I really hope they are there in a non clashing slot.
  20. Actually having listened a few times or covers lots of different genres, but really good.
  21. I'm not sure what you are saying. I was saying (unless there is a massive fumble with the next album) Sam Fender is likely to be a future headliner because he makes popular music and it doesn't matter what Young Fathers do (or how good they are) they aren't because their music is more challenging and hasn't got that broad appeal. It's no shade at Sam Fender BTW. I think he is totally fine.
  22. plus, they have already headlined the festival previously! So clearly there wouldn't be a mass exodus. That is true of so many stadium/Arena bands though isn't it? It's full of people that want to hear the stuff they love (usually the earlier stuff) and then don't mind the new stuff. If you think of 2 of the touted Pyramid headliners for this year you don't exactly hear people very excited for new Coldplay material or Stevie Wonder material (I'm sure they will be out there in large numbers) but they are still going to be packing out the field with people like us. I still listen to new stuff from a band I loved which has massively gone off the boil in the hope that it is going to be a return to form or something as good as the earlier albums. Very often a game of rapidly decreasing returns but sometimes a band hit's a late run of form.
  23. Yeah BBC are still releasing great albums and headlining small/mid sized festivals I put them as a good slot on Other or potentially Woodsies headliner. That said Vaccines have done it before and they are similar-ish. I can't remember if they were a stand in for Charlatans or something.
  24. I wish Young Fathers were a future headliner as they were exceptional live last year (I caught them at Latitude rather than Glaso) they really are something else with the intensity and energy of the performance. I haven't seen anything like it for a long time. I agree though that I can't see them headlining the Pyramid. If I think about the band that they remind me the most of and it would be Massive Attack (I know there are only a few musical similarities) and I think they will top out at being Other Stage Headliners - critically acclaimed, big fan base that will turn out for them, able to play big gigs on their own but not crossed over enough to top the pyramid. And that is a shame, because they are so inventive, interesting and spellbinding live. I think sometimes being interesting and making very diverse sounding music works against you. If they had something tradionally anthemic then they would stand more chance. No one really bats too much of an eye when Sam Fender gets mentioned as a future headliner, he is fine, but incredibly derivative - but he has stuff that you can sing along to in a crowd.
  25. A few on my playlist for today. IDLES - TANGK - I've already listened to and is really good. Lime Garden - One More Thing - Saw them supporting Bombay Bicycle Club last week. If you like stuff like Goat Girl, Dry Cleaning, Hole then you would also probably dig this. William Doyle - Springs Eternal - formerly used to release stuff as East India Company which was electronica. This is much more stripped back singer/songwriter folky stuff. New album is really lovely. Vampire Weekend - 2 new track from the album. Both sounding really good - enjoyed much more than the stuff from the last album (Which I thought was a bit patchy).
