I know I was making loads of noise on here about KOL earlier but I've just remembered was not a phase where someone claimed to have info O Rod had been bumped up to headliner at some point a few weeks back?

I think an O-Rod bump makes a lot of sense.  It looks good to have a headliner which is really popular with young people and a hot ticket for her own gigs right now. Would definitely get press, likely the press would be positive.

I know that Dua Lipa/Coldplay/ Olivia Rodrigo doesn't read well for the real guitars/real haircuts clan but much more interesting than someone like KoL.

Yep and if they don't have it sorted in about 3 weeks I suspect it's what they will do. Suspect they have a few possibles that they can bump from sub or Other headliner if needed though.

yeah some of the names suggested for subs and Other stage headliners could get a bump and it wouldn't look too out of place.

  3. soooo, if we really are knocking it around because our understanding is changing an if Stevie Wonder is out and if it isn't Madonna then who are potential options.

    KoL

    Olivia Rodrigo

    SZA

could some acts that have been written off because they have said they aren't touring etc come back in? I'm thinking of Blur or 1975?

someone close to BST who has had BST info is saying hes out of BST. though not saying hes out of glasto but they said if hes out of BST hes prolly out of glasto too.

cheers - okay wow then that is news.  sounds like it's wide open again for the 3rd headliner.

ppl are saying stevie is out for bst and glasto..... its going to be KoL isnt it?

I know it is getting knocked around here on a rainy Thursday morning for lack of anything else to talk about.  But beyond KOL putting some old Glasto festival clips up is anyone saying they have actually heard Stevie is out for BST (and by extension Glasto?)

  6. BEAK> are great.  Would also be interested in seeing Alison Goldfrapp.  I thought her solo album was really good last year.

Seasick Steve again lol - I know he only lives up the road but I just don't get the love.

    **Hot off the Press Update**

Just checked and it's a staggering 330ish amount of times seeing James live.......

That's blown my mind.  I sort of inherently know there are people that follow acts around and will follow them on a tour but I hadn't quite appreciated the numbers they clock up.

I guess with a band like James that have been going over 40 years, haven't ever split up, regularly release music and tour it is clearly possible.

I know somebody who has seen Big Country over 100 times. When they play he literally sees every date on the tour that he can make. I don't think I have seen any act more than 10 times.

That is amazing.  Yeah there are a couple of acts which I've seen 14/15 times and less than 10 that I've seen 10+ times and kinda know I will always see them at a festival or if they play my hometown but I don't think I would do every date (or even multiple dates) of a tour.  I think sometimes I'll see an act on the festival run and then on the tour as well for the same album cycle, that's probably as much as I would do.

I've seen James circa 60 times and for me there's been only a few gigs where they were 'alright', and by that the gigs were still really good but not as good as some of their very best gigs. An absolutely brilliant live band. Wasn't mad on their last album barring a few tracks but those songs did sound great live. And I've just listened to the latest song and I think it's great, (the snippet I'd heard earlier this week had left me a bit cold but hearing the whole song it fits into place nicely).

60 times! those are some impressive numbers!  I'm nowhere near that even for bands I love and see every tour.

  10. I would probably really enjoy a Churnups style slot 1 hour full of early stuff and later singles.  I would find something more interesting to do if they were Pyramid headliner (and that would be very, very easy to find).

Are they too big for Avalon headline material?

They still play the o2 arena. (Not every tour, mind).

They are a real hit and miss band for me.  Have seen them be fantastic and also seen them be pretty average.

If they didn't clash I'd see them again as they were good at latitude last year doing the orchestral versions.

I do sort of long for a 1 hour "greatest hits" set played straight.

Anohni (formally Antony & the Johnsons) with a big ol’ GSH. Screams Park headliner:

Does anyone know whether Gent Jazz festival is in a tent or an outdoors stage? Hard to tell from the photos. Can only imagine seeing Anhoni with a roof.  Just checked, last time I saw them was 18 Years ago!

Announced a show in Denmark in early June at Northside Festival if that's anything.

That is great news.  It has to be on this year. Pyramid sub or Other headliner.  They were fantastic last year at Latitude but I want to see them at Glasto.

Could they have been (or still are) waiting to see how Stevie's health is as to if he can play or not, hence delayed announcement? Would make sense.

I think his operation was a while ago now so I don't think they are waiting on that.  He played at the Grammys and looked back on form.

I was coming at it more from the point of view that he wasn't someone who has been touring or on the live circuit for 5 years (I think) and so it might have been a late call (last year) that he was a potential.

In that Annie & Nick podcast, Emily said "It'll make sense when we reveal our line-up, there's a reason why we've held off a little longer."

I'm not sure we've given this particular sentence the 28 pages of scrutiny that it deserves.

In the context of what I think Emily was talking about (which I think was the headliner).  I took it as an indication that it was someone who wasn't on anyone's radar that that point...Which made sense when the Stevie Wonder information came out because he hadn't played live for several years due to his health issue and surgery.

Aye  - the Green Man booker books The Park I think.

That is an interesting little nugget.  It makes sense there is always crossover in acts and vibe. If I was to choose a stage to be at all day it would be The Park from a music perspective and I always love the look of Green Man, it is just too far to justify for me as well as Glasto (and often Latitude).

Yeah really interesting album very nice. My big fear though is a million miles a way from Kids & Time to pretend which is no problem for me.

As someone who was at the back of the tent when they played JP.

People were getting a bit mardy when all of the songs did not sound like those two.

I fear a good festival performance by them can be negatively impacted by people who form the wrong impression though there own lack of trying new things.

I think il hope to catch them In there own gig

Yeah, I've seen them at festivals and people just not interested in most of the set. They used to do that karaoke version of kids as well where they didn't even play it, just sung and danced to a tape of it,  presumably to flip people off.

They’ve already said they’re not planning on touring this album at all.

Really! That's a real shame, I saw they didn't have anything announced.

They are an interesting band, I'll read some more recent interviews. They strike me as not giving a f**k about playing the game.

They could have followed the first album with more songs like time to pretend and kids and been massive but decided to release congratulations which was a massive swerve, practically commercial suicide and then doubled down on it with the next album.  Lucked out with little dark age which isn't that much more accessible really.

If they toured this album I think they would be playing good venues.  I guess they don't care. Kinda nice to have a band who remain a sort of outlier.

Wow, really surprised by how good that MGMT album is. I was impressed by the singles they released, but was expecting it to be front loaded and then the rest be ‘duds’. But it’s a great album, and sounds very ‘fresh’ considering their first album is 17 years old!

yeah it is really good.  I would say it is up there with Congratulations for me. I'm really hoping they turn up at Glasto this year.  I haven't seen them since 2010.

Either it would be a side-quest at this point in her career or just a chance to try again given this was the big plan for 2020 until some virus or other got in the way.

Guess ball's in her court as to what she wants to do. In 2026 at earliest, probably.

Yeah, agree, doesn't feel like it's something that will happen next year. Likely a way off if it does happen.

She might be demonstrabl bigger now, but she was clearly happy to play G20 for what would of been a fraction of her usual fee - so I see no reason why she wouldn't compromise again.

Yeah,  I think it's definitely in the category of "if she wants to do it, she'll do it".

Sometimes I think she is "too big" then other times I think that maybe for someone in her position it would be a fun and different thing to do.

She doesn't need it at this point in her career but she may fancy doing it.

  22. Incredibly stoked with this leak and that lineup. The challange is going to be clashes but hopefully Danny Brown is at a non clashing time. Will be really keen to see nia archives this year, just caught her dj last year at the levels. Love jungle and justice but they might lose out in the clashes. Squid should be middle of the day and haven't seen them play since the new album has been out so that is a great addition.

  23. If I hadn't seen Stevie before then I would be going for Stevie...but because I saw him last time (and loved it) then it would be The National for me.

My logic behind that is they are a band I love - I've seen them loads but I think it is the right place at the right time and will be able to get a good spot amongst people that really want to be there.

I was at Ally Pally night 1 last year and there were songs from the new album which they didn't play which I hope they play at Glasto.
