  1. Not acts which I've learned from the poster but some smaller names that are really worth checking out..

    - Soccer Mommy - She has done several albums 90's american indie rock sound.  Supported The National at Ally Pally last year FFO Phoebe Bridgers.

    - Bar Italia - released debut last year I think.  Post punk indie - FFO Fontaines DC/Idles

    - NewDad - I think they they have one album and some ep's - dream pop/Indie - FFO big thief, lush, wolf alice

    - Mannequin Pussy - new album was out a couple of weeks ago.  Punky but then also shoegazy as well. FFO Idles, Ride

    - Barry can't swim - Debut album was out last year. sort of "lofi" Dance music, in a similar vibe to Fred again. FFO Fred Again

-Alvvays - On about album 3 I think.  Jangly indie pop FFO c86 bands

I know lot's of indie there but I do listen to a lot of indie 🙂

also, I know people like Squid have been around a while but they are great post punk indie and Lankum was one of the albums of last year, dark folk I guess.

I know I bang on about Nia Archives a bit but she really is fantastic.  Jungle music very 90's influenced.

    What an odd line up.

I'm not even sure who it's aimed at. A 50 year old dull housewife and her 12 year old daughters schoolrun car playlist or something

It is aimed at nearly everyone though isn't it? probably the only underrepresented mainstream popular genres are metal and hard rock.

As a representation of a really broad set of musical styles and acts it does what it is likely aiming for.

if you like indie music it is there, if you like pop it is there, if you like dance it is there  Rap it is there.  It is good to see stuff like KPop (which is massive) getting booked at last.

  3. Also, these are all names that have been talked about on here for a long time (I acknowledge SZA was only talked about in the last few weeks).  So it isn't like this is totally leftfield is it?  Probably the main surprises for me are Idles and disclosure as other headliners and no Pulp (even that has been suggested recently so was mentally prepared for it).

Nice surprises for me are Little Simz in a big slot on the Pyramid, Alvvays, Janelle Monae.

Gutted that Idles will clash with Dua Lipa (and Jaimie XX and Fontaines DC)

  4. Going into my hot yoga class now so won't be able to check till 8.30 I reckon. Bet it'll drop sometime then.

Don't feel like that poster last night was legit. I think a lot of the names on there are right but stuff like Idles being other stage headliner makes me think not right.

  5. Yeah I mean Keane are headlining main stage at Latitude this year and Latitude headliners are usually sub or top on the Other stage or as low as 3rd maybe 4th from the top (can't remember where Wolf Alice or Lewis Capaldi were off the top of my head) on the Pyramid so if they are there (and I personally think it is likely they will be) then they will be in a pretty big slot.

It may do, but the title they are using is very cringy and poor.

It's a bit like let's make a new great album, we tried that, let's just reuse a title instead.

I suppose it is the acceptance of a downward slope.

Really liked a Celebration of Endings.  Though that and The Myth of the Happily Ever After were a big improvement on Ellipsis. The soundtrack album they did (Balance, Not Symmetry) is also really good.  I know they are all very different from the early albums in terms of sound, but they did feel like they were trying.

I'm still not 100% on this.  I've no real idea why.  I think that by keeping it under wraps (more so than usual) this year means there must be a curveball incoming and whilst SZA would be a curveball, I'd expect something that would be more of a "wow" moment than a "who?" moment.

Yeah I mean I'm not 100% on it.  In someways it would be cool if it is SZA, be cool if it was something else.  But yeah I get the sentiment that there could (and for a lot of people there will be) be a "who?" moment rather than a wow moment.

  8. Probably the act that, in my mind, make sense that they should be there that I would be most gutted if they aren't there.  They were magnificent last year and I would love to see them in the Pyramid Sub slot.

I'm going to casually ignore the Amsterdam website and cling onto the dream 🙂

  9. Agree with the thought it is most likely to be Friday. Also, stating/restating 2 female headliners has given enough time for people to get their head around SZA headlining the pyramid (Even though the press don't seem to have cottoned on yet so will be a shock for a lot of people).

  10. another +1 for thinking that the T-Shirt's are not great designs.

I love a nice bit of band merch and if the Glasto t-shirts were nice I'd buy one but....I never have.

  11. In all seriousness there is a print version of NME. It was resurrected last year and is printed in very limited numbers you have to join an online waiting room when it is released I think it is monthly or bi monthly and £10 an issue.

I've not bought one but it is still a thing (after not being a thing for many years).

  12. I can't see stereophonics as an other stage headliner in 2024.

They fill the same sort of space as Keane. Still strangely big but musically bankrupt for a long long time. Pyramid late afternoon. Big crowd and bring the singles out. Fine.

It amazed me that they headlined latitude a few years ago as a filler for snow patrol.

There's a place for them at glasto but not near the top.

  13. Did I imagine D-Block Europe are rumoured as an other stage headliner?

I must have read it somewhere because I don't know anything about them as an act. I have no idea if they are big enough.

Yeah Janelle did Holts last time so looks to be on Pyramid or Other if she’s there this year.

Hope she is on the Pyramid this year.  She would knock it out the park.

If it is a run of pj harvey, lcd,  Coldplay on the pyramid I will be so f**king happy.

I don't care about whether other people think those acts are too small or in the wrong stage I will be having the time of my life.

If people around me aren't digging it I'll just move to get a better atmos.

In fact, I don't think I've ever done a 3 act run at the pyramid on a Friday. Last time was a Sunday for elbow/Lorde/ kendrick and it was amazing.

Are the same people moaning about LCD and PJ Harvey headlining the field on the basis of crowd size the same people saying SZA crowd size doesn't matter and she scores really high critically?

That Friday is shaping to be an excellent night of music for those who want to be there.

    PJ Harvey - genius

    LCD - awesome

Coldplay - you know will put on the best live spectacle of the weekend and will probably have the biggest crowd

I may be at all three, or none, depending on options, but that's a pretty good top 3.
