  1. Personally my celeb spotting has been rubbish.  Alex Turner and alexa chung in the mid 00's near what was the john peel tent in the early hours. Zoe ball near the other stage. Kele from bloc party "on it" at about 3am at nyc downlow. Think that's it tbh, I've seen more at latitude.

That deer shed line up is 🔥

bc camplight cmat and Bombay bc, personal trainer all great 👍

I just know latitude will end up with hozier as headline which will be bloody awful 😞

could lcd soundsystem headline they have just been announced for all points east ?

Would be very happy to see Personal Trainer again - they were great fun live.

I think LCD being at APE rules them out of Latitude unfortunately as they have never shared headliners in the same year.  Which is a shame as I think they would be an excellent booking.

whose dates have a huge GSH in their tour schedule....

    JUNE
    Friday 14 – June DUBLIN, 3Arena
    Saturday 15 – DUBLIN, 3Arena
    Tuesday 18 – MANCHESTER, Co-Op Live
    Wednesday 19 – MANCHESTER, Co-Op Live
    Friday 21 – MANCHESTER, Co-Op Live
Tuesday 25 – GLASGOW, Ovo Hydro
Wednesday 26 – GLASGOW, Ovo Hydro
    JULY
    Thursday 4 – July LONDON, The O2
    Friday 5 – LONDON, The O2
    Sunday 7 – LONDON, The O2

I think because they played in 19 & 18 it would be unlikely that they would be back. Headlining in '19 is really only 2 festival gap which doesn't seem long enough.

  4. I've got a couple of random memories of various Glasto's.  Start with my first one 2003.

I remember getting tickets for my first Glasto in 2003.  I was working in a call centre and my mate leaned over the desk and asked whether I was getting tickets for Glastonbury because they had just gone on sale.  We must have had a conversation about it previously in a kind of "wouldn't it be fun to go" type way but I don't think it was seriously something I was considering, but in that moment I just though, yeah, why not! found the telephone number, called up and got through without any issue and bought a ticket - had no appreciation that it would sell out.

Back as a fresh faced 22 year old who had only been to a couple of day festivals in Bristol before I hadn't got the appreciation of size and scale of Glasto.

I travelled down on the train with my girlfriend at the time and I remember we arrived really late after the sun had gone down.  We came over the hill on the way from Castle Cary station on the top deck of a double decker bus and just saw all the lights of the festival site off to the side and it almost took my breath away. It was love at first sight.

We lugged our kit on site (I had packed a load of food and small gas stove thinking that we would go back to the tent to eat pot noodles).  I called my mate who had saved us a space and he came to meet us.  I put my bag down in the old cinema field and when I picked it up again I hadn’t noticed that my Doc Martin boots (which I had tied on to my bag by their laces) had become untied, so I lost those within minutes of arriving.

We followed my friend up to where they were camped which was the back garden of Worthy farm and pitched my small 2 man tent in the dark at about 11 o’clock at night and had a relaxing herbal smoke.

I wasn’t drinking alcohol at all that year but I did pretty much wake an bake that festival.  I think the first act we saw were the Darkness opening (or on early) on the Pyramid and I thought they were a hilarious comedy act, couldn’t stop laughing.

It was really hot that year but for some reason I spent the whole festival wearing a pinstriped brown suit, paisley shirt and at some point I acquired a sombrero.

At some point during the Friday we were sat at the Pyramid and there was a dealer walking around and shouting that they had weed for sale, I asked whether he had any mushrooms, he didn’t hear but a lady next to us said “don’t buy off him, I’ve got some” and sold me a bag of ‘shrooms.  I remember late at night looking at the grass walking home and it looked like I was looking down at a labyrinth or maze.  Also, I remember not being able to look at my GF because I thought she “looked like the devil”.

Anyway, made a massive error in judgement and instead of seeing REM I was convinced by my then GF to see Fat Boy Slim in the old dance tent – I hadn’t appreciated at that point that he played every year.  We saw quite a few acts in the Dance tent that festival and I can remember dealers walking through the crowd with 2Litre cola bottles full of pills selling them.  Also seemingly on every bridge.

Wandered up to the stone circle after FBS and had a cup of tea in one of the tents and chatted to people really chilled out and friendly.  We didn’t find the Lost vagueness that year, I don’t think we even knew it existed.

Next day was Radiohead which was the big one for me.  Remember enjoying Flaming Lips and making our way close to the front for Radiohead – was an amazing performance, still one of my favourites.

That festival I saw, The Darkness, Har Mar Superstar, Suede, Royksopp, X-Press2, Fatboy Slim, 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Thrills, 2Many DJ’s,The Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Damian Rice, Macy Gray, Sigur Ros, The Roots, The Streets.

I can’t remember much about lot’s of those acts other than being very glad we swerved the Sunday Pyramid headliner Moby to watch The Streets in a packed Dance tent and it being really awesome.

Next day we left and waited for hours at Castle Cary station tired & sunburned, minus my Doc Martin’s but my life had been changed. I knew I wanted to do it every year.

Sunday night in 2017 was the thinnest gruel, a real ‘screw the locals’ selection

?? one of the biggest pop acts in the world + The Killers + the last Bee Gee standing + Biffy Clyro (who headline pretty much every other festival they play).  Even if you don't like any of those acts even (especially) the most casual music fan will find something to enjoy there.

Sunday was also the best place for Macca... ...

oh yeah - I mean I'm speaking personally for me + I was absolutely hyped for Kendrick on the Sunday, for me that was as much as a singalong as Macca.

what nights have coldplay done in the past do they need any to complete the set .... my memory is dodgy

No, they've completed their pokedex and done them all.

    2002 - Friday

    2005 & 2011 - Saturday

    2016 - Sunday

  8. Sunday is the best place for her.  I need big uplifting songs that everyone knows and energy at that point of the festival. Also I like it if the biggest booking is the final headliner so you go out on a high.

There are some good moments on KOL & MSP but overall I found them less enjoyable than (nearly) anything else they have released.  I haven't gone back to either of those albums in years...maybe I should.

lol - this has happened before....I'm just listening to Moon Shaped Pool, for the first time in probably 6 years....and it is lovely.  I'll get back in my box.

Moon Shaped Pool and King of Limbs didn't do it for you?

sadly not....really wish they did as I would consider myself "a massive Radiohead fan" they were probably one of my favourite bands, probably wouldn't have got into the Warp back catalogue if it wasn't for Kid A.

It's fine though, I don't want to knock them, they have released some amazing albums. Most bands will never release anything as popular, critically acclaimed and influential as Radiohead.

Also, the last 2 times I saw them at Glasto, at the Park for the KoL set and then on the Pyramid 2017 just didn't do it for me.

It was miserable at the park due to the rain and the crowding, even though we weren't far from the stage it was hard to get into.

That said, I think maybe I was just standing in the wrong place in in 2017 because they looked really good when I've watched the BBC footage.

I really like The Smile album though and would love to see them live.

If Radiohead came back with something as good as In Rainbows I would be over the moon (shaped pool) but I'm very much at peace with it not happening. Another tour though would be great.

Yeah I get where you’re coming from. I’ve no idea but I suspect she was denying they were all confirmed because at that point Madge wasn’t. Just my $0.02.

agree, when you look at the wording of here statement . "The story about our confirmed headliners is untrue" She hasn't said anyone isn't playing, she is saying the story about all 3 being confirmed is not true.  And I expect that is correct.  I doubt all 3 were 100% confirmed at that point.

Had to check where I was - New Order, Other Stage is the answer

That was where I was as well to be fair,  very drunk though. Can't remember much of it 😀

I would be there for sure. None of the rumoured Pyramid headliners appeal to me so hoping for decent alternatives elsewhere.

Yeah I was really happy to see that they are playing festivals in Europe so it means they are active at least.  Saw them on the Mezzanine tour at the O2 and it was fantastic would love to see them doing a set which included other stuff as well.

James Blake - Acoustic or Avalon if he's lucky

Not sure if you are deliberately confusing him with James Blunt or not.  He headlined west holts in 2016 and has released another well received album this year, feel like he is similar level as last time.

  15. Based on nothing but a hunch I expect James Blake and The Kills to be at Glasto next year.  I couldn't place either of them on stages though. James Blake could be Park, WH or Woodsies. The Kills could be The Park, Woodsies, early on the Other.

    Very similar is a push!

There is definitely a crossover of acts, they have both had the same headliners over the years (Foals, George Ezra, Florence & The Machine, 1975, Chemical Bros, Bastille, ALt J) but I don't think they have had them in the same year (but I can't be bothered to cross check).  There are usually shared names from the undercard though that play both in the same year. I think this year some of the shared acts were - Last Dinner Party, Confidence Man, Yard Act, Warmduscher, Bob Vylan.

  17. I've got the fear now that Hozier will play Latitude. feels like the sort of person who could play 😞

That said, looks like Massive Attack are doing festivals next year. Would love them to headline. Jungle must be in for a shout as well, they did an APE this year I think.

These are the first confirmed artists for Bilbao BBK Live 2024 - HIGHXTAR.

If Sam Smith is playing Glastonbury, this rules him out of Sunday, probably makes tge Friday the most likely.

The Streets and IDLES as well.  Would have thought they were pretty likely to feature on the Glasto lineup - sort of paints them into playing Friday if at all.

Way sooner than I expected to see Arcade Fire back. Interested to see the reaction to them.

They didn't go away though.  They continued to tour throughout 2022 then headlined a festival in Spain and a festival in Portugal in the summer this year and played Festival in Mexico less than a fortnight ago.

I guess it is self selecting, in that, people who are bothered by it aren't there and those that either don't know or are okay with it are the people in the audience...and there are enough of them to continue to headline festivals.

So Metallica are suddenly doing single shows rather than two nighters. And playing Saturday in France, as well as early June in Austria. Is there a chance they're the American band that were all of a sudden available?

"and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year and I was like 'oh my God, this is incredible, thank God we held the slot'".

When you look at the wording of what Emily said I think it points to a solo artist rather than a band.
