  1. Mannequin Pussy - Drunk II Can't wait to hear this one in Woodsies.
  2. Hi, I think anyone who went to the original Latitudes will tell you (with a wistful look in their eye) that the line-ups now are very different to how they used to be and it definitely aims at a much more mainstream demographic. That said there is plenty on the smaller stages if you dig into the lineup a bit. I don't know if it is widely publicised but there is a small campsite for day ticket holders so you can enjoy the post headliner stuff, have a drink and camp before heading off the next day. I think it is basically in a car park and pretty basic but I've got friends that have used it several times. Dependent on the weather and the after hours lineup (which will be announced closer to the time) there could be some fun stuff happening after hours. There is plenty happening on site which isn't on the main 2 stages. it is actually really cool to go and watch the comedy or the podcast tent and there will be newer/smaller bands on the smaller stages that are worth checking out as well. Even though the lineup can look a bit unappealing I always enjoy my time at Latitude as an overall experience. Hope that is useful.
  3. No worries. Yeah that old school rave vibe was a few years ago to be fair and I was pretty trashed lol, but I always think they should play that sort of music in the woods area. You'll defo find something good to keep you occupied until the small hours.
  4. yeah it is a thorny one isn't it. I saw James Brown in 2004 actually - albeit as a 23 year old who was ignorant to his past (even though I appreciate now that it is well documented). I'm with you that there have been people who have played with similar allegations and so it isn't impossible. I think where it feels a bit different is that last time they played the uk it was such big news. Front page of BBC news homepage and a number of people actively voting with their feet and returning tickets for the remaining UK gigs that feels relatively recent. I feel, rightly or wrongly, that this gig is dipping a toe in the UK market again to see how it goes - for the band and the promoters. If it is okay then I think the next run will be back to those larger 1 day London festivals/gigs.
  5. There are always some good late night music options and you are right it is a lot easier to navigate compared to the logistical and stamina challenges of Glasto after hours. If you are into House/D&B/Techno then you are likely to find an option each night after hours...but probably not to expect that there are lot's of different options every night like Glasto where you are spoilt for choice. Your best bet is probably going to be the sunrise arena, seen some really good people there, that is where you are most likely going to see "proper" electronic music. The other late night stuff is probably going to be a bit cheesy for your tastes I reckon (The comedy tent is usually Guilty pleasures, Ultimate Power type things, the woods usually has a mix of stuff but again pretty mainstream mix of stuff, disco shed is pretty random). Good fun.... but it isn't "cutting edge". Also, to set your expectations it doesn't go as late as Glasto, more like 03:00am I think for the main late night areas miiiight be some stuff that is a bit later but I've not done that late. The crowd is sometimes a bit...Latitude....which is to say, you might wonder whether the majority of the audience have ever been to a proper nightclub before. Last year there was a lot of people doing an "oot oot" chant in the tent which got really annoying really quickly. I do want this to come across as balanced because I have had some fantastic nights with friends at Latitude to dance music + it can feel like an old school rave in the woods if the music, weather and crowd is right.
  6. I really miss Gordan and Matt as well. For me they haven't been the same since they lost them.
  7. ahh phew, yes that was similar to the latitude set.
  8. IDK - I was having this conversation with my wife last night. In some respect it seems pretty likely as they have a history of playing unannounced and "small" gigs - I think they did Coachella previously + it would work for the band on rebuilding their fanbase. I don't know whether there would be too much negativity and controversy in the press and on-site + Glasto work with a lot of charities. Understandably, there is a lot of strong emotion about what has happened and I wonder whether it just isn't a good fit for the festival. That having been said several festivals booked them as headliners since in Europe and South America. As previously a massive fan who loves Funeral, If they were there, playing it in full it would make me feel really uncomfortable.
  9. Yeah it is an extended set/two sets. When I've seen Bon Iver do "an evening with" they did 2 sets and it was absolutely brilliant. I'm a bit gutted that the london date I've got Tickets for VW isn't an evening with. China Crisis are fine but ideally I would just have more VM.
  10. I think Mark E Smith had a bit of an accident on stage whilst The Fall played the Park Stage in 2015.
  11. ahh no way, I missed FR that year because I was seeing them a Latitude the following month and Norwich later in the year. They were touring painting of a panic attack. Did they play the modern Leaper? If so I was a fool for missing it!
  12. That is exactly how I feel. On that last tour I found it so hard to care about the new stuff...but loved hearing the old stuff. They are one of the only bands where I feel like this, I usually have very high acceptance of bands playing new and less popular stuff.
  13. yeah, only one I can remember is when Primal Scream did Screamadelica. You would think Crystal Palace is a one off - but I think they did a tour and Ally Pally 5 years ago doing the same thing... I think you are right though it'll be different. Hopefully the best of silent alarm +hits.
  14. Yeah Other in 2005 was good- was that the time where Kele kept introducing songs as a "slow jam"? I thought but they were even better when they headlined the NME tent at Reading that year. That is one of my favourite times of seeing them. Just looked back and saw them 6 times in 2005 - 2006.
  15. Given that Bloc Party are doing their big Silent Alarm, 20 years of Bloc Party show at Crystal Palace in July does anyone know whether they will do the same/similar set at Glasto. Last time I saw them was in 2022 on the last album tour and my enthusiasm for their set would be very different based on how much old stuff they play. I'm still pretty sure I'll see them whatever but if I knew it was going to be a Silent Alarm set I would be a lot more excited.
  16. I managed to find a copy of the steam on youtube, not sure if it's still up, I think they get taken down pretty quick. I think the review is a bit of a hatchet job and it is no way as bad as they are making out. It is clear that there are sound issues meaning the vocals are not loud enough in the mix throughout which I think saps the power of the songs. LDR's voice can be a bit hit and miss live. I thought she was great at glasto (for the set we got) but have seen recordings where it isn't good. I'm inclined to think it was mainly sound issues rather than voice issues. The production was massive and spotlight have taken a lot of rehearsal so any criticism of not caring or trying is pretty off. Totally agree that lana is releasing great albums and so saying she is past her best is frankly ridiculous, I don't think anyone who likes that sort of music and has heard "there's a tunnel..." would think that. Also, referencing the review, I know there is a pile on of criticism for coachella this year, and yeah, probably not my jam to be honest, but it's not like it's dead. It's a very different beast to a uk festival and I expect if they pull together a lineup that people like more next year it'll mainly be forgotten.
  17. Sounds like Justice smashed it last night at Coachella. Making the clashes harder.
  18. Yeah Albert Lee is great and a fantastic guitarist (if you are into that sort of thing).
  19. Bernard Butler will be nice
  20. Barry can't swim - deadbeat gospel 🙌
  21. Didn't she headline it a few years ago?
  22. ^^^^This 100% I've never been to the piano bar for this reason. Would rather do things that will be fun rather than stuff to just have said I've done it/got a photo of it. I used to love NYC Downlow, had some great times the first few years it was there but won't ever go again now because it is just a massive queue of people going because it is something people think they should go to. It really isn't worth it.
