  1. No, they only played one night. The National's non London shows are still arenas whereas Future Islands' were club venues. "Too big" is obviously a subjective call that is ultimately as pointless as talking about the stature of football clubs, so lazy use of language on my part - but realistically where The National are operating is at a scale and budget above where EOTR tends not to play (as a National stan slightly guttingly cos i'd die to see them at EOTR and would adore to be wrong)
  2. Stunned by the Wallopers hate. Thought they were fantastic and far from novelty, have a deep respect for a long held musical tradition, singing a great deal about inequality and a fairer world
  3. I was talking about the distance from their peak rather than how long they have been going for Pixies were a strange booking, and were poor, but generally speaking EOTR looks for a line up with some level of cultural relevance even if it isn't for me. Ash and James are like 90s weekender bands, to the point I can only assume you're on a wind up lol
  4. Enjoyed his ten minute, later retracted anecdote about how all his wife cared about was money
  5. There is absolutely no way The National will play EOTR these days, let alone in the lower status headline slot, they've just sold out two nights at Ally Pally
  6. As I got there on Friday, seeing some of this stuff before I got there I was expecting the wild west. It was actually fine on the whole though. Some design issues particularly for women and people with mobility struggles. but a massive improvement imo on the previous two years which were properly wretched
  7. like I'm not a huge Walkmen fan, but it would be really cool if it was them If FWF walk out I'm left a bit eh?
  8. Saw a bit of them on Woods in 2018, proper just washed over me Trying to remove my own biases here (as I don't care for them) but I think they're the only mooted act I'd be actively disappointed in it being, purely cos it doesn't feel special/I don't know why they kept it a secret
  9. Thoughts with you pal. People have slightly parasocial relationships with festivals, but the truth is life is bloody hard right now and as great as a weekend in this particular field is, you gotta keep eyes on the big prize - life
  10. if you need actual flexibility, is worth trying to cobble together 4 people at the train station and getting a cab. But yeah, way back, pre book
  11. I play cricket in Victoria Park and you can usually hear decently from the pitches which are right by the People's Park Tavern. That pub has a nice beer garden, but is permanently understaffed
  12. People picking up bargains then, so i don't think we'll notice it being quiet - it's such a well spaced festival anyway
  13. There's admittedly far more on resale sites this year than last, but last year there were a good 200 odd tickets on twickets when the resale closed and I thought it might feel empty, but there was no difference in all honesty
  14. Who on the line up already do we think will do a late night show? For me MADMADMAD got to be a shoo in right, especially with their criminally early regular slot - reminds me a bit of AKDK a few years ago
  15. Love them, but they feel like a band out of time - if they'd been around in like 07/8/9 they'd be huge
  16. Are there campervan field specific showers? The map says no
  17. Classic EOTR I still feel like the line up is much weaker than previous years, but now it's here I can't wait
  18. Stupidly gassed about Be Your Own Pet
  19. Yeah, Gizz will be fun and I love the new record, but not sure I want to miss Ezra's last go round - in the Garden no less!
  20. Well now that has created a pickle
  21. I don't want to know. I want to stand in front of the stage and groan when I disapprove of who it is
  22. Every year my mates offer me a refund on my ticket if i eat two whole rotisserie chickens. Maybe this is the year
