  1. Great vibe, best of the festivals. Big enough not to get boring in 4 days but still a small festival vibe. It is very much in the independent festival spirit rather than the comercial ones. But it is the naughty step of UK hippy festivals.

It has been described as the fluffiest squat party in the country.

  2. This is the website I use for my route planning, the show elevation feature is aceness.

My plan is two stages, Tuesday after work about 60 miles to either andover or Newbury (depending on my route) then a second 60 miler in the morning looking to arrive about midday. I can easily keep it at near 15 miles an hour for about 8o miles without a load but experiance tells me I may be down to 12 with the tent. I will also miss the midday heat. Rode all the way London to Yeovil for the Sunrise Celebration that was washed out two years ago so have done this kind of thing before. I am also going to invest in clipless pedals.

Just did a quick look and you are looking at about 150-160 miles. That is doable in one day but you would need to be realy well prepped for it. The ride out of Bath is a bitch though, on the same scale as Notts to Melton Mobraw type hills. Without knowing your fitness levels or experiance there is not too much advice I can give on how to break up your ride i.e. one day or over a couple. One thing I can say is on the main A roads watch out for aggragets or large stones in the sides, these are not swept clear by cars so tend to have alot of debris including aggregates.

Get yourself proper trouser for the journey though, normal shorts and underjocks can cause nasty rashes in really long rides, cured by either canisten or athletes foot cream.

Be very aware of your hydration and the air temperature.

  3. You're free to continue doing this but bear a few things in mind

    1) I know you think you're being wild and fun loving and crazy!!! but you're scum and I hate you.

    2) If you do this within range of me I'm going to throw a full can of beer at your head as hard as I can. And then I'm going to punch you and the guy supporting you for making me waste a beer.

    :flowers:

  4. I suggest a read of this article:-

The initial statement is one that's been written by MDC, and the same as posted earlier in this thread by hazel.

Below it are some "frequently asked questions" with answers, which have also been compiled by MDC. Within it, it states VERY clearly: "The organisers signed up to legal commitments associated with the licence, some of which they failed to meet, and are bound by other legislation."

Would any council make any such categorical statement if it wasn't correct? Only if they had the world's worst lawyers I reckon. :P

One beer then bed and its 71 miles to my goddam party of the year.

I'm gonna blow steam out my head like a screaming kettle, I'm gonna talk cod shit to strangers all night, I'm gonna lose the plot on the dancefloor. The free radicals inside me are freakin', man! Tonight I'm Jip Travolta, I'm Peter Popper, I'm going to never-never land with my chosen family, man. We're gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did, anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life. I've got 73 quid in my back burner - I'm gonna wax the lot, man! The Milky Bars are on me! Yeah!

But first a word from our sponsor.......
