Melt-Banana starting a UK tour on the Sunday of EOTR weekend, wonder if they're a possible for the Friday or Saturday?
High time we had the second drop really
-
Late night big top headliner is the main bottleneck innit, quite often gets to the one in/one out stage. Used to be bad queues for the late night tipi/secret sets too but last year seemed easier or maybe I just got lucky.
The Boat you need to get there early for a good view if there's something you really fancy.
Oh and closing the folly between acts always causes a big queue too I guess.
Rarely felt the garden too packed to enjoy, can be a pain leaving if you're trying to rush to another stage as a popular set ends I guess, tis what it is.
None of the above ever really bothers me tbh so I guess it's acceptance, there's always something else to see.. queues for food are more annoying for .e and again, last year was fine for that.

I know that you're probably right. I was just thinking (hoping) that maybe Bonnie Prince Billy would sub her. wishful thinking I presume. I am going to the Gunnersby Park gig tho
BPB headlining the Thursday ain't he.

do we think PJ Harvey is a lost cause? I have hope still
Can't see it now, we have our 4 headliner's, she ain't subbing is she. Gonna get tickets for her piece hall gig personally

When is the second announcement generally?
Any guesses/wishes? Don't think we can expect many if any more biggish names really...A couple from these would do me...
Amen Dunes (would be absolutely made up with this, decent chance I reckon)
Hamish Hawk
King Creosote
Ducks ltd
Flyying Colours
Reds, Pinks and Purples
Man of Moon
Pale Blue Eyes

Amen Dunes set to announce a new album on Thursday.
Has he played before? He’s playing Roskilde. Possibly back in Europe in September?
Yeah played an afternoon slot in the big top, was fantastic. Would love to see him on the garden, that alone would have me buying a ticket

Liking the comeback album by American Analog Set...wonder if they'll tour

King Creosote got a new album coming, has he ever been back since the very early days? Would be a nice addition for me

I don't really know their size for festivals so it could be a stupid suggestion but The The?
Would love that...dates are close enough for it to be a possible too. Pretty sure I've heard a few tracks 'between the music' at EOTR too, which we know Simon personally curates. Thursday headliner would do me just fine.
Somehow doesn't quite feel like an eotr type booking though does it

Any negative reviews would be unfair. She was plagued with technical difficulties and just gave up in the end after about 2/3 songs. Gutted because she was one of my "must sees" that weekend. Would love her to come back because that latest album is a beauty.
I just flicked through the yearly review thread on here for that year and she was getting pelters, I was there that year but pretty sure I missed her completely
-
I find myself listening to that Julie Byrne album a lot... wouldn't mind her coming back... although seem to remember she got terrible reviews last time

Bill Ryder Jones nailed on for a garden slot with a new album coming I reckon, 1st single is lovely.

Glad we avoided this heat tbh. Would have been too much. Feel sorry for the lads taking the stages down etc

Ooh, where did you read that he's planning to tour the UK next year? An early afternoon slot would be perfect - I can already picture 'Let's Pretend We're Not in Love' floating across the Garden Stage area.
Ah actually, he says an 8 date tour in the spring so ...

He mentioned it on his bandcamp community section

Might as well use this as a general 2024 wishlist thread. Going to focus on acts which have released an album this year. I've really enjoyed all of the following over the past 8 months and could definitely see at least a few of them making an appearance next year:
Dougie Poole
The Clientele
Billy Woods & Kenny Segal
Dudu Tassa & Johnny Greenwood
Colin Stetson
Young Fathers
Kelela
Tim Hecker
Model/Actriz
Lankum
Andy Shauf
Fever Ray
REZN
ANOHNI and the Johnsons
The Lemon Twigs
Susanne Sundfør
The Canyon Observer
Gia Margaret
The Tubs
Rắn Cạp Đuôi
Lucy Liyou
Hayden Pedigo
Home Is Where
Loopsel
Maya Ongaku
Terje Torkellsen
The Reds, Pinks & Purples
Nuovo Testamento
Rose City Band
Andrea
Sluice
Celestaphone
Flyying Colours
Ayano KanekoYeah I'm hoping for The Reds, Pinks and Purples...he says he's touring the UK next year so hopefully he'll come late summer. A nice afternoon slot in the folly or opening the garden

Dream weather considering what we were expecting. Touch too hot for me Sunday if anything but I'll take that every time. Thursday rain was no problem really, site held up well
-
I thought they were allright tbh. Was worried about the lack of urinals at first but don't think it made much difference in the end, rarely queued more than a moment or two.

Great video

It's a weird line up this year isn't it? I don't think you can really deny it's a bit light on established names...and yet work your way through the clashfinder and there's barely an hour when you haven't got a tough choice between a couple of absolutely great sounding bands. If the weather plays ball and some of the upncomers really rise to the occasion I think this could end up being a vintage year.
I wonder if there'll be noticeably less people on site...with all the tickets still available on twickets...
Really buzzing for it now

And yeah, it's pretty quiet everywhere really. Never tried quiet camping.

What's the camping situation like, is it a free for all like most festivals (i've been to)?
How quiet is the "quiet" camping, sounds like it's generally quite a chilled festival so maybe everywhere is already quietish?!
Any issues with certain spots getting boggy if it tips down?
Oh, and are gazebo's allowed to stick between two tents for a bit of living space?
Ta 🙂
Very easy to find a space, we always get a similar space every year, 30 yards up from the hill of death. ( a tiny 20ft incline tbf😂)
We always have a gazebo between two tents, pretty sure noone has ever been offended by it. There's a couple of bigger groups with big gazebos every year too.

These guys could be fun in the Folly late Saturday night
I've yet to watch a video of them that wasn't complete pandemonium.
3 or 4 tracks I really like tbf

All this talk of chairs reminded me our blow up sofa finally died last year...have to slum it this year I think.
If you're flying over you want one of those thing that you just whoosh about to fill with air and tie the end....nice and light and perfectly serviceable for coffees/beers back at the tent

So it does. The first two gigs not listed on various sites for some reason.
