  1. Tom Jones did the legends slot in 2009 having previously played in 1992 (was also on Sunday afternoon but seemed to pre-date being called 'the legends slot' or whatever; was a 'special guest we can't announce').

It's quite early for flights as we're still basically 10 months out, I reckon you'll be able to get a better deal in spring.

I wonder about camping as well, I'm not really excited to camp in the south of Spain in the summer. What's the taxi/uber situation, any shuttles? The info on the website is rather sparse.

Shuttle buses here (though I couldn't work out how to book when I tried quickly):

Got my tickets and flights yesterday (very cheap yesterday). Couple of questions please:

I see average high is 26. Does it getting overwhelmingly hot? 26 is about right for me.

Are there lock-ups for passports, etc?

I have read in passing of music on the beach. Is that a stage or just background stuff?

    Ta!

Imagine getting so angry about saying CB ain’t the greatest.

so so so many better DJ’s

... and you just did it again.

It's akin to saying that you don't rate Pulp because you don't like Jarvis's 6music show.

But to be fair, I do agree with this part - there are loads of DJs who are better then the Chemical Brothers (they'd tell you same thing themselves too).

  4. I got a three-month ban at the beginning of May for 'idoitic vacuous posting' for posting the below link to some old music in the old music thread. When I politely enquired as to why, I was told it was for idiotic vacuous posting.

Wouldn't it be an idea to tell people why they are being banned? Then they may be able to modify their behaviour accordingly in future.

  5. I tend to not bother to eat all day, unless one of my various wives (I've been going to Glasto so long I've been with two different wives; I'm not a bigamist) forces something on me. I try and eat as much as I can in the morning. Then I carry nuts and crisps around with me and shove them in as and when.

Yeah, caution needed. If she's actively Pro-Putin then the festival shouldn't be paying/promoting her in my view. If she's just remaining neutral then the festival offers a platform for her to be swayed, and maybe express a view.

Fuck, life is difficult. Nothing's binary is it. Except this:

Well, I prefer the remixes tbf...

  7. I think the 'doing it for a ticket' thing became fairly evident to me when Stewart Lee used to show up every year, during a time when he had given up doing stand-up, and do the same set (in the afternoon) repeatedly (it was pretty funny TBF).

Okay - I went through and Googled the acts I didn't know. It's really not a great poster as they're not even grouped by performance type and many of the names aren't obvious. I mean some are but I've included them for completeness anyway, with some commentary:

Vou Fiji Dance Theatre are a Fijian dance group
Umami Dance Theatre are a comedy dance duo
The Show Globe is a walkabout act in a massive snow globe
RSVP Bhangra are a Bhangra group
Neil Balfour is a classical baritone singer
Marcus Du Sautoy is a mathematician
Marcel Lucont is a is a comedian who pretends to be a posh Frenchman and does songs
Bootworks Theatre do a virtual jukebox act with lip-syncing
    Jyoti Supernatural is a magician/juggler
Adam Hills, Nish Kumar, Kerry Godliman, John Hegley are all comics
Ed Petrie is a kids TV presenter but appears to do stand-up now?
Briefs: Bite Club is a circus variety show
Siegfried and Joy are magicians - they wear tiger skin outfits so clearly they're refencing Siegfried and Roy but unsure if they're meant to be a parody?
Jonathan Pie is a viral internet person/comic - I know he has name recognition but I do wish they would just book an actual comic at the top of their game to do a full show instead - Joe Lycett or James Acaster or someone
West End Kids are exactly what it says on the tin
Twisted Cabaret is Frank Olivier's and Paul Nathan's circus cabaret group - you may have seen either of them doing juggling acts at previous festivals
    Tony Walsh is a poet
Tianna and Lea Two Times The Travels is unknown to Google. Why would you put them on the poster, especially when this is clearly not even a fraction of the entire Cabaret/Astrolabe/Poetry&Words/Circus/Walkabout lineup. Why include something that gives people no information at all?!
The Black Eagles are an acrobatic dance group
Steve Frost Improv Allstars - comedy improv, often includes Phil Jupitus. Interestingly this is just off the back of Paul Merton's tour with Suki Webster, Mike McShane, Lee Simpson, Richard Vranch and Kirsty Newton - I know Richard and Suki have done the Glastonbury show in the past so wonder if we might see a slightly different line-up. They are good but again, wouldn't it be fun to have like, Austentatious on one year instead?
Space Cowboy - an extreme circus act
Rimskis' Yard - I think this is that new installation bit that was at the top of the Theatre fields in 2019?
    Reginald D Hunter - comic
    Paul Currie - unexplainable
    Pam Ayres - poet/comic
Josh Widdicombe - comic and arsehole apparently
Gecko are a dance/physical theatre company
    Elvis McGonagall is a poet
Dom Joly current tour blurb: "Dom will be talking about his exploits as a serial globe-trotting and seeker of dangerous travel spots. From North Korea though the Congo and Syria to Chernobyl, he's visited some of the most unusual places on the planet. Joly famously attended school with Osama Bin Laden and armed with a trusty Powerpoint, fans can expect his holiday snaps to provide comedy and a sense of danger."
Cirque du Vulgar: "Cirque du Vulgar is a night of risqué live entertainment, featuring stunning strip-tease routines, electrifying daredevil stunts and filthy comedy "
    Cerys Nelmes is a comic
Box 9 Drumline are walkabout drummers
Array Collective make art exhibits about social issues. No clue what they'll be doing at Glastonbury but they did win the Turner Prize!
Abandoman is an improv hip-hop act

I reckon the booking policy is largely dictated by who wants to do it for next to nothing. Widdicome, Ince, Lee, Kumar are all music fans - my guess is that they do it for the free ticket essentially (hence why they are often on in the afternoon).

The Park stage is at the bottom of a natural bowl....?

I did wonder if I was misremembering as I was typing!

Will they ever add screens/more speakers to the Park? Got there relatively late for Idles in 2019 (after the previous band finished) and it was about as immersive as sitting in the garden while a neighbour has their radio on. I know 99% of sets there aren't that busy, and if I'd been desperate for a good spot I'd have turned up earlier, but still

Also not helped by the stage being at the top of a hill, not the bottom. I find the view a bit crap when it's busy and I'm 6ft.

Any indication of a day or stage for Leon Bridges?

How weird, I literally just came in to ask this! I think there was speculation he is a WH headliner, but I'm not sure there was any actual info behind that (I am hoping not).

What sort of time are the big comedians on? Like Josh, Adam, Nish?

There are usually some fairly big names in the afternoon. I've seen Josh W, Stewart Lee, Robin Ince, Andy Parsons in the afternoon before (and the Impro All-stars are always on on the afternoon on Fri and Sat). I guess it suits them not to clash with the acts they want to see!
