    2024 Headliners

With QOTSA, Foos, Royal Blood, Arctics, GNR and the Manics, this year's line-up looked more like R&L than this year's R&L line-up does!

    2024 Headliners

I thought 2014's was a great trio of headliners. Arcade Fire who were one of the biggest bands in the world at the time, Metallica who are all time musical legends and have been one of the biggest bands in the world for 30+ years but also a bit of a left turn for a Glastonbury headliner choice, and Kasabian who were long established festival favourites and long overdue a Glasto headline slot.

    2024 Headliners

Would be a very strong Reading and Leeds line up circa 2009.
  6. Just thought I'd throw it out there anyway. 11 years you mean. And then their previous performance was 18 years ago. sh*t...18 years ago. That day in 2005 was my first ever Leeds. f**k I feel old.
  7. Crazy thought, and I know I will get told it won't happen, but what about Foo Fighters? Hear me out. They've just shown this weekend gone by that they're willing to accept lesser slots at major festivals. They absolutely adore Reading and Leeds and are arguably THE R&L band, and I bet Dave would be willing to fly over on fairly short notice, and probably do it for free. And there's a sizeable gap in their schedule around the time of the festival. Just a thought.
  8. I think when they get replacement headliners they're not looking at shifting tickets, they just want someone adequate to fill that slot. Pulp or QOTSA would be an absolute dream but yeah, it'll be someone more "mid" as the young 'uns say.
  9. Was thinking maybe The Prodigy too. One of the hugest crowds I've ever seen at a festival was their 2009 turnout. I know the general consensus on here is that any artist that were around before 2015 just won't go down well with the kids because the kids only know music that was released after 2015, but they're one of those acts who have huge followings across all generations.
  10. They were only booked to play just two years ago (before pulling out). And there is still rock at R&L, it's just not dominant on the line-up like it used to be. Didn't know that to be fair. I also doubt the Foos were booked for 3rd down because they played that slot in 1998 or whenever. Their stock still seems to have fallen though, and they would be an awful headliner.

Do the BBC no longer upload full sets any more? They didn't seem to with Reading last year.

    The Hu

Last year I jokingly suggested they be added to the line-up to add more diversity, and yet Glasto actually did it! I'd like to think that performance earned them some new fans. They're brilliant. Long live the great horde.
  13. People being dicks at festivals is no new thing, just look at why Leeds had to move from its original site to the current one. But, what I will say is that COVID has definitely had an impact on the social skills of a lot of younger people. Those who spent a couple of years at school/college/university in lockdown. Key developmental years social-wise.
  14. Of the acts I watched on iPlayer they were by far the most oustanding act of the weekend. Huge, loud, powerful and with an almost perfect setlist. They've been opening recent shows with Misfit Love which is one of the highlights of Era Vulgaris but very much a deep cut. Going straight into a f**king bullish performance of Go With The Flow was one statement of intent. And the comments in this thread just make that performance even more awe inspriring. Apparently volunteering to go up against Elton, and not allowing the clearly small crowd to knock their confidence, only bolster it. Absolute professionals.
  15. Royal Blood perhaps, but I can't help but feel their chance to headline has been and gone. If The Courteeners are booked as headliners, even as a replacement on the second main stage, that will be the final nail in the festival's coffin. 4th down in Glasto's tent this weekend. If they go for a British act (which is likely given Biffy and The 1975 were drafted in as replacement headliners) Kasabian could be a good shout. Or Pulp...
  16. Perhaps, which is a shame and shows how much the festival has changed, since they are R&L royalty and one of the acts you instantly associate with the festival, alongside the likes of Foos and Biffy. But their crowd at Glasto looked quite good and Glasto is arguably even less of their scene than the current incarnation of R&L is.
  17. Absolutely knocked it out of the park. What are Pendulum up to nowadays anyway?

Blur in 2009 will always be GOAT.

They're really replacing the piano keys in I Wanna Make It Wit Chu with guitar pinch harmonics. What a f**king band.
  20. This year, next year, on the evidence of this Glasto performance they need them back ASAP. Absolutely smashing it out of the park! If they were to play next year they would likely only be MSW headliner so no harm in bringing that forward.

But less about Josh Homme, how's Elton getting on over at the Pyramid?

They've just hit the ground running haven't they? And now they're doing If I Had A Tail which is maybe their best post-Nick song. Bangers for days.

Wonder if Dave will join QOTSA on drums. Would be great to see him do a A Song For The Dead. After all, one of his few live performances with them? The Other Stage in 2002.
