    2024 Headliners

    Pink headlining? Is this 2002?
  2. Paramore / YUNGBLUD / Beabadoobee Kasabian Travis Scott / Playboi Carti / Anne Marie Queens of the Stone Age Muse / Aitch / Boygenius Olivia Rodrigo I'm probably being a little too optimistic with the amount of "classic R&L" acts on there but honestly, I'm a point where I'm struggling to call the line-up because most of the acts they book nowadays I'm not familiar with. All I can say is that I guarantee at least one of The Wombats, Blossoms or Two Door Cinema Club will be there!
  3. Makes me wonder if the festival will still be around in 5-10 years time, or at least in the incarnation as we know it. What happens when you shed your roots in favour of TikTok trends and just book a bunch of pop acts.
  4. What he actually said was some statement about how there should be no borders and how we're all brothers and sisters, not specifically just Russians and Georgians. His intentions were good but in a lot of parts of the world outside of the west, such a lovey dovey statement. I do think this business of hating on all Russians because of Putin is very xenophobic though, yet it seems to be encouraged in some quarters. Russia is a great country, rich in history and culture, but unfortunately currently in the hands of a warmonger.

    2024 Headliners

Not quite sure what you're trying to imply about me but the fact you're using a hypothetical situation to support your argument says to me it's most likely a moot point. I have said on here that while I'm not a fan of Dua Lipa or Olivia Rodrigo, that they would both be very strong headliner choices, just like I thought GNR were.

Are female artists expected to flash their underwear or something?

    2024 Headliners

Classic Efests response to anyone who dares criticise the sacred cow that is mainstream pop. You just need to call him a gammon and tell him to go back to listening to Oasis.

    2024 Headliners

Dua Lipa would be a very strong choice for headliner, but not my cup of tea, so someone good on the Other Stage at the same time please. What are Tool's plans for next year I wonder 😂

    The 1975

Why would they? As grossly incompetent and self-serving as our government are, we're not a repressive authoritarian dictatorship.

    Lizzo

Wealthy corporate backed celebrity who became famous off the back of their industry connections treating their "lessers" like sh*t. Colour me shocked. I thought they were all down to earth and wholesome? I guess not.

    Olivia Rodrigo

Her new album is out soon, if that is a smash she won't be far off headliner level surely. Also remember when Stormzy was booked to headline off the back of just one album.

    2024 Stage Predictions

If the other two headliners are pop acts what about Green Day or RHCP? Both are maybe the only two big stadium rock type acts left who have yet to do it at Pilton. I'd prefer Green Day as RHCP are notoriously bad live.

    Olivia Rodrigo

Her music sucks, manufactured pop garbage for teenagers, but getting her to headline in the prime of her career while she is still a huge name wouldn't be a bad move.
  14. Foos day in 2012 was better IMO.
  15. Blossoms were 3rd even with the co-headline thing, especially as Twenty One Pilots closed neither site. You're right about subs in recent years being weak though. Certainly no one on the level of The Prodigy, SOAD, The Libertines or NIN, and also co-headline acts who for all intents and purposes subbed one of the two sites such as Pulp, The Strokes, Paramore or QOTSA. The only strong ones I can think of in recent years were Royal Blood and arguably Liam Gallagher. ADTR are one of the weakest subs I can think of, but I remember getting shot down at the time whenever I said as such. I think every act on that day barring the Foos was one slot too high.
  16. They seemed a bit lifeless, but then anyone would do having followed that Pulp set. I actually think they're one of the few traditional R&L headliners that the festival would have back in this day and age. They rarely ever come to the UK nowadays though.
  17. Manics way, way back in 2008. Also you look at certain line ups such as 2013 where so many acts on that stage went on to big things. The thing is, who are the promoters more likely to listen to - a bunch of 30somethings on a message board who lament how the festival just ain't what it is compared to the '00s, or the Gen Zers who flood their social media replies with constant "good vibes" about every announcement the festival makes?
  18. I know it's been discussed countless times on here, but they need to scrap the two main stage set up and bring back the R1/NME tent. I get why they did it in 2021, COVID measures and all that, but when I went last year I felt like a piece of the festival's soul was missing. How many up and coming acts in years gone by have made their breakthrough in that tent?

    Any sign of Pulp yet?

But "hip young things" in 2011 aren't the same as what they are in 2023. They liked The Vaccines back then! Maybe have Pulp do a duet with Dua Lipa or Yungblud or whoever and get them trending on TikTok, that'll get the youngens' attention.

    Any sign of Pulp yet?

I said it previously, give Pulp that Pyramid headline slot and they would absolutely knock it out of the park.
  21. Come on Melvin, show some balls and get Pulp to headline MSW next year. Phenomenal in Sheffield last night.

    Any sign of Pulp yet?

They might go the way of Blur and The Libertines and disappear for a few years at a time, then return to do the odd tour and maybe put out some new stuff. Either way I hope last night wasn't the last time I get to see them because that was phenomenal. That said I wouldn't really want a new album. We Love Life was the perfect conclusion to their discography. But more tours, yes please! They headlined two major UK fests on this tour and sold out everywhere very quickly. Pyramid sub or Other headline may be more realistic but would anyone argue they'd be a weak Pyramid headliner if it actually did happen?

    Any sign of Pulp yet?

The goosebumps I felt when they played This Is Hardcore must have registered on the richter scale.

    Any sign of Pulp yet?

f**k it, I'm gonna say it. They can pull off Pyramid headline.
