  1. Been completely tied up with carving and trying to work around the lack of heavy lifting capability. The shonky old crane on my lorry finally gave up the ghost on Wednesday which has made moving the bigger stuff to the farm more of a challenge than usual. Am now here for the duration although will be trjndljng5backwsrds and forwards bringing more stuff. Anyway, although there have been some spells of precipitation, the ground is still rock hard. Will sort another video update later this morning.
  2. Hopefully comments now switched on, was previously set as 'Made for kids' hence comments not allowed.
  3. Other news, got the two chambered one completed but took a whole lot longer than expected. Zero chance getting the three version made. May bring it along as a work in progress. Three days ago I managed to get hold of a huge oak rootball. It's bone oak, felled decades ago and left in the ground so all the sapwood has rotted off. It's about 7 1/2 foot high and almost as wide. My crane really struggled to lift it. I know exactly what I want to do with it. Hopefully start on on tomorrow afternoon with a view to having it ready for the festival. Fingers crossed.
  4. Sadly not going to happen. Partly because I've got so much on but mainly because of the price of timber. I usually make them from larch or spruce. The price per cubic metre of the timber (it's sold by volume not weight as weight changes significantly depending on moisture content) doubled in 2020 and has continued to creep up since then. I wouldn't feel comfortable charging the price that I'd have to to make it even nearly worthwhile.
  5. Sorry for the lack of updates. Having said that, I suspect that there has been little change yet.... Been just too busy to get over to the farm. Just finished starting to get a load ready and will leave to deliver as soon as fully loaded in the morning. Will update then.
  6. That would truly be a dream come true for me. A huge part of the soundtrack of my youth. The only time that I've ever sung karaoke was to a live band up a mountain in the Italian alps. It was, of course Whole Lotta Rosie. My elder daughter, an adult, literally ran out of the bar and chose to stand in a blizzard rather than listen.
  7. Thanks everyone for the the appreciative comments, gives me a nice warm little glow 😊 I'm likely to do the next update on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm absolutely not in the game of weather forecasting, I'll gladly leave that to the experts, but not expecting much to change by then. As always, hot, dry and dusty conditions can make life hard for the people already on site. Great for us lot at home though!
  8. Good to kind of lurk and listen to the chat last night. Great to finally meet @clarketeafter so long.
  9. Ive got two pretty much finished and currently working on a two chambered one.
  10. Might join in but will have to be on mute for most of the time
  11. Some progress on the two chambered one . Looking like the three chambered one will have to wait. I may have time to rough it out but certainly won't be finished.
  12. I'll try and make it depending on workload.
  13. Yep, I can't believe it either! Ten short years since I did the first SOTG report. Well here it is. I'll be updating more frequently as we get closer to the festival. Special thanks to a new cameraman, @Crazyfool01 who did a sterling job.
