weve had the wettest february on record after a wet oct/nov/dec/Jan, so the worthy farm  is as waterlogged as worthy farm gets.so i'm expecting a very muddy glastonbury if it rains after the gates open.

The state of the ground will be fine.

I can feel it in my waters.

Yup, also missed him. Could actually hear snatches of him on the wind but had run out of steam.

My No 1 regret when I could have but didn't.

  3. If you want to treat yourself, eat at The Queen Of Cups.

It's a little more pricey than most eateries but well worth it. You'll probably have to prebook. I ate there for the first time a few weeks ago. Fantastic!

Michelin award and MasterChef The Professionals chef.

would be unfair to tar all travellers as worthy? some are - plenty aren't

May I refer you to the first line of my post which you have snipped a line from and quoted here?

Erm, some elements were considerably worse!

^ There you go, the line which makes me a little puzzled with your comment.

Does shaping the festival as we know it today deserve any?  Also, horses?  Big assumption that all the travelling communities are the same as Romany there...

Erm, some elements were considerably worse!

Having said that, it's obviously very wrong to tar everyone with the same brush..... including me

For example the Brew comment. I was a Brew drinker but was a responsible hooligan 😁

You paint a lovely and vivid picture.

Were you round sharing a glass of cognac after a hard day of graft?

No, his 80th birthday party. Quite a bash!

It’s a huge place isn’t it? Friends that live nearby in Street showed me a photo when it was built some years ago.

Yep, with the largest fireplace that I've ever seen in a dwelling. Many logs the size  of 50 gallon oil drums will fit in it.You could literally fit a SWB Transit van in it! Obviously it is in the living room which looks out over the festival site. The window is floor to ceiling glass in a semicircle that takes up almost half the room.

    All absolutely wonderful.

There was an amazing karaoke bar micro venue in Shangri La one year..  had a great time there.

    😂

Kamikaze Karoke, was there for many years. Emma, an old mate used to run it.

Not aware of any of them.

There was a kind of Big Brother thing in a caravan in SE corner (Unfairground?) one year.

Yep, one of Roy's projects called Big Caravan, during the Lost Vagueness era predating The Unfairground. Was going out live on C4 until the content started to breach just about every broadcasting guideline in the book and C4 had no option but to pull the plug.

We'd been following it a bit and wandered into The Chapel Of Love And Loathe at about 3.00am. Expected it to be bouncing in there. We walked in, it was packed but you could have heard a pin drop. The antics inside Big Caravan were being streamed live on big screens. We then hotfooted it to the actual caravan. Possibly the most outrageous and out there thing I've ever witnessed at Glastonbury.

Apparently when Glasto start paying proper fees to their artists we can have those lineups. Or something. I forget what the original point is it’s been going on so long!

I wonder when those other festivals will be able to start booking some some of the biggest artists in the world ever.... for a massively reduced fee......

  11. Just got home (managed to dodge the rain!) with a huge branch of Cedar Of Lebanon. About three tonnes in total, cut into managable chunks. Put a load of the thinner pieces in lean-to. Will split and stack soon. Keeping it for our firepit which we sometimes use at the festival. It smells absolutely fantastic when it burns.

Ha, sounds like a story to tell.

Mate did once go out with someone just because they looked like Debbie Harry

    1) Really quite a story, Glastonbury '99 when Blondie played

    2) Yep, she used look SO much like Debbie Harry

To give you an idea, even got mentioned on BBC R1 the next day 😁
