  1. Somebody needs to phone James O'Brien's Mystery Hour on LBC tomorrow and ask. Most questions usually get a definitive answer 😁
  2. It's part seasoned, to fully season in sections that size would probably take 20 years. It dries out much faster than, for example, oak which needs one year per inch of thickness! It's sequoia which I love for all sorts of reasons , not least the fact that it is incredibly stable and suffers from minimal shrinkage as it dries so hardly any cracking/splitting.
  3. Don't actually know if it's going to work yet!
  4. A bit of progress this afternoon on the second chamber on chair no 2. Will be a relief to actually make a start on the third chair.
  5. No sleep till B̶r̶o̶o̶k̶l̶y̶n̶ Pilton
  6. I think that she would have been a massive and hugely welcomed addition to the lineup at any point in her career. Can't understand your viewpoint TBH. There have been thousands of 'lesser' performers over the years.
  7. That would be one real magic moment. .... But would the crowd know to chant "Angus" during the intro?
  8. He funeral was massive, so many people there from a huge array of different tribes and sectors of society. Countless musicians from all the bands that she booked and became friends with over the years. It was a real moment when everyone in the crematorium sang this to the obvious tune
  9. Yep, top bloke known him for decades. Whenever we were parked up in West Wale we used to go to his and Kaz's insane parties at their cottage In Llanddewi Brefi. Thay used to run the illegal but tolerated spirits bar/venue called The Kazbar at the entrance to the field below Greenpeace. Last there in'95. It used to be crust central. Joe Strummer famously went in one night and played Rock The Kazbar with an acoustic guitar. Sadly Kaz died a couple of years ago. Massive funeral.
  10. Yep, my favourite is the Arbortech turbo plane closely followed by the Arbortech industrial wood carver. So quick, easy and efficient for shaping wood. Surprisingly safe as well. For anyone who may not be able to visualise the effect of these tools, imagine a Light Sabre that gets condensed into a disc that is 4 inches diameter and is then mounted onto an angle grinder. That pretty much sums it up.
  11. #1 getting close to completion. #2 and #3 currently just sticks and are a development of the concept of #1. Never been done before. If you've ever had an idea that seems stupid but thought fuck it, going to give it a go...well that kind of sums it up. If #2 doesn't work then it's pointless even attempting #3 as it's stretching the #2 idea. Going to get properly stuck in in the next couple of days so hopefully will update progress here. A couple of pics of #1. Needs another 15 or 20 hours I think. Don't actually know if they will work but going to be finding out very soon
  12. I've not been keeping up at all on the forum so apologies if there's loads about Confidence Man already. Anyway, Liza Tarbuck said earlier today "Big things going on at Glastonbury for these guys"
  13. I think that you could be right. To create the authentic henge look, the steel box section would have to protrude out of the front of the vertical cars which couldn't be achieved without some serious chopping about. The cars that a bunch of us saw a few weeks ago had the box section protruding from the boots, but the front of the cars were intact. If it was me, I'd say sod the cars, the concept is king and chop the fronts as well. I suspect that JR may have wanted that but (I could be completely wrong here) but he doesn't own all the cars.
  14. Wettest March since '81 and third wettest on record. Blimmin felt like it here as well! I'm sure that it'll be OK though. » desperately touches wood«
  15. Oh, and I've recently bought a new bit of kit. Quite specialized, had to import it from Germany. I've fitted it to one of my very high revving saws. Only had a couple of quick plays with it so far, but hopefully it will speed up the creation of large concaves. It is very hungry for wood.
  16. Sorry about the lack of updates. Been doing a bit, fitting it around my usual carving work. Made a fair bit of progress on #1 of three but still a way to go on it. This approach really won't do. #2 and #3 will each require considerably more work then each previous one so if I have any hope at all of getting everything finished in time I'm going to have to really pull my finger out and sideline my regular stuff. #2 and #3 haven't been done before. It will be a little embarrassing if they don't work for a reason that will probably become apparent. Will post a pic or two of progress of #1 tomorrow.
  17. It's well worth checking out Rimski's Yard. There really is nothing quite like it at the festival. Many of you will have seen Oli before playing his crazy bicycle mounted piano while dressed as a top hatted Victorian ragamuffin. He and Laura who run it are both lovely. I'll have an all new acoustic chair there this year.
  18. Atchin Tan (means stopping place) will be by Rimski's Yard again.
  19. Sounds good, let me know. Workload may prevent attendance but hopefully not.
