  1. Sorry, but that sounds like you don't like it because it inconveniences you.....
  2. I only read the first few posts on here, sorry about that, but quite busy. My view. My children are 27 and 30. They've likely been to to more Glastonbury Festivals than most reading this. We had an old tin bath mounted on a vintage Silvercross pram frame back in the day. It had a foam mattress in it and bowed hazel poles covered in tarp for a roof. It was a mobile living room/bedroom. We went out as a family and partied for as long as we liked. The children absolutely loved it. They never came to any harm. They still remember it, some of their earliest memories. They still thank us for it. They are both upstanding members of society, have very good careers (trumped their old dad on that one!) and love nothing better than larging it up at Glastonbury among others with me. This is my personal experience and in retrospect I wouldn't have done anything differently.
  3. I had a long absence from Shambala until last year. I enjoyed it then much more than Glastonbury.... Thought that it must be a fluke, an anomaly. After this year I realised that it wasn't. I've been to a few festivals over the years and can honestly say that Shambala is the perfect model to show how it should be done.
  4. There's a couple of tickets for Shambala up for grabs. Less than standard ticket price. DM me if interested.
  5. I'll be there. Rather looking forward to it.

  7. Yep, Nik Turner. He was always there and just didn't stop playing. Really didn't stop. He was sacked from Hawkwind because he wouldn't stop! Absolute legend.
  8. 30/37 and counting.

  9. That was a great gig. I followed it by throwing shapes with my kids, @squirrelarmy, Ed and various others in The Temple until it finally closed and we were all shooed out. The evicted crowd walking down the railway line was like a scene from Night Of The Living Dead.
  10. I regularly have the same thought, but......
  11. I've been with EE for years. I took a VF Sim with me just in case but didn't need to use it. EE was fine.
  12. No, haven't really had time to read that much on here recently, only got back last Saturday. I'll have a look now
  13. Despite upvoting Skip's last comment, I'm not a massive fan of crew bars when the show is on. They are great before gates open but I generally get stuck into the big party that's provided when the show is on. When the best party on the planet is going off, I can't understand people's obsession with getting into a crew bar. Of course exhausted workers may want to go there to escape and chill during their downtime.... but I'd personally choose various other places onsite to do that. Nicer and more chilled😀 And to go back to the original question, Avalon Inn. The two storey timber frame with the shingle roof is about as lovely as a drinking establishment can get!
  14. Some character calling themselves (this time) @No Dickriding or something has downvoted my last post . Should you be reading this, I genuinely am in no way offended, upset or owt like that. It has actually made me chuckle . "It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt" Mark Twain.
  15. It is not in any way comparable to flags. It doesn't take up nearly as much space and is usually removed during sets. It is absolutely a one off which brings joy to a vast number of people at the festival. How many flag bearers are constantly high fived by people who appreciate their flags and asked for selfies by people with their flags? The reason that the festival is what it is is because people came up with creative ideas that 'normal' people likely considered stupid, a waste of time, it'll never work etc etc. Those ideas were tried and then developed and evolved into some of the most amazing sights, sounds and works of art that we're lucky enough to enjoy every year despite the dissing of the naysayers. What have the latter folk ever contributed to the festival? The Pyramid Stage Hat is a classic example of the seed of an idea that has the potential to evolve. I have witnessed exactly this so many times. I could continue to try to explain to you quite what I'm getting at here, but hopefully you'll now see the difference between the flags and the hat. Cheers
  16. Never mind @Crazyfool01, check out the rather handsome chap with the hat and shades 😁
  17. Drone patrols if not too windy?
  18. Always wear your lucky pants. The debate as to whether washing them destroys the luck rages on.

    Rapture, Blondie maybe?
  20. A surprising number of crew have drug testing kits which they are happy to use to do tests for friends and very often for the kids of friends.
