Well if that's how you want to frame it then fine. Either way I stopped going rather than to continuing to buy a ticket and then complain about the line up.

When the Reading Festival line up started to consistently pull away from acts I liked I stopped going.

I got a ticket through resales in 2015 and 2023....fairly sure there was a lot of moaning both times about the line up which was irritating when I didn't have a ticket and wanted one!

We spent Thursday night at the Glade bar but must have got down there after Example as didn't notice any mayhem!

I don't. We knew the headliners already!

People were losing their sh*t over the poster not being out and its still gone into the top 5 of early release dates.

She's played once in 2016.

I think perhaps some of the 'underwhelmed' ness on here is because everything gets discussed, analysed or acts playing get tipped off in such detail that by the time the line-ups do come out none of it is a surprise to anyone. Its why I avoid the site build up threads when the festival gets close as I like to have at least one surprise when I arrive on site!

Is it bad or just not as good (in your opinion) that you've been accustomed to? I think (possibly) the lineups last 15 years have been spoilt and this year perhaps they just couldn't get the A list names people now expect.

Perhaps its more of a reflection of us all going to festivals for a long time? No surprises anymore? The extraordinary becomes ordinary once you've done something 15+ times IMO.

This all reminds me of when my mates tell me that x player at Arsenal is shite but don't come up with any realistic alternative that they would like us to buy.

I thought it was going to be SZA Friday, Dua Lipa Saturday and Coldplay Sunday.

But you aren't coming up with any alternatives, so surely if you (and many others) are saying the line up is underwhelming then you'd have another act(s) in mind? Its probably very difficult to get people 1. big enough to headline 2. agree the lower appearance fee 3. on tour at the same time etc I'd agree Coldplay is a lazy booking though.

My tuppence worth. I won't watch any of those Pyramid headliners as they just aren't the sort of music I'm into, but rather than grumbling about it constantly I'll wait until the full line up comes out and find a suitable alternative, which given there's over 100 stages won't be difficult. Lets be honest, all the moaning is because Glastonbury have constantly pulled it out of the bag for the last 15 years and now we have a year that's slightly 'underwhelming' everyone throws their toys out of the pram. The easiest thing to do is if you don't like the line-up, is put the ticket back in the pot, have a year off and we will see you in the autumn for the 2025 ticket sale...that's what I would do if I didn't like the line up that much, although I know better, and 5 days of camping with my mates, having a laugh and creating memories will be much better than being moody at home complaining because Coldplay are headlining again.
