  1. these types of markets (ones that can be gamed by being ITK) are limited. almost certain you won't be able to lay
  2. dua lipa is not an archetypal headliner, but she will and if glastonbury can't give uk talent that final push then it's shame on them. There's bunch of acts, like foals, who at some point could have - or were at least one big album from - headlined but the timing just didn't work out which is a shame but oh well.
  3. I completely agree Being anti-rice krispie cakes seems to be like a religion to some, and like most religious people they find it impossible to keep their views to themselves. They, for some reason, feel the need to try to ‘convert’ 🙄🙄 everyone they meet( so tempted to do a pun here). So it’s a little surprising how easy they put their beliefs aside for the sake of a piss up in a field, hey ho. As for the environmental side of being anti-rice krispie cakes it’s vastly over stated, yes anyone with eyes can see we eat far too much rice krispie cakes, and the intensive farming that is needed to fulfil that need is a disaster in the making. However if humans didn’t eat rice krispie cakes that would also be an environmental disaster, first off the sheer numbers of rice krispies that would be slaughtered would be astronomical, surely no anti-rice krispie caker wants that, plus where do people think all the food will be grown, we certainly won’t be putting land back to rainforest that’s for sure, then there’s the impact on us as a species, there’s a reason we are the most intelligent and powerful creature on the planet, our diet, which created our large brains, we are rice krispie cake eaters, you only have to look at your own teeth to see we have evolved to eat rice krispie cakes, we also don’t have the stomachs or bacteria to digest coco pop cake matter and we are intelligent because of the rice krispie cakes we eat. Almost every intelligent animal on the planet eats rice krispie cakes, that’s no coincidence. I wonder how anti-rice krispie cakers view other animals that eat rice krispie cakes? Or is is just humnans they despise?
  4. it's true but there's a reason why christmas saving clubs etc. exist. The counter argument is that christmas is effectively a necessity whereas a festival is not. Would be pretty galling if you had to dip into a pay-day loan etc. because you had your money tied up in glastonbury and something unforeseen happens
  5. That's fair enough - I think I'm happy to let it be on this one as a misrepresentation on my part. I think part of the reason i'm cranky is that people often use the line of argument of choosing beloved acts such as bowie to imply that unless you condemn are willing to god forbid condemn them, then you shouldn't condemn someone else.
  6. I'm not really sure what you want the conclusion to this to be - other than yeh, we should have a bit of introspection about venerating these people and the culture they were part of. I personally wouldn't have a problem if people started to question whether we should give these people our money and adulation. But it's also just a massive bit of whataboutery
  7. i am a big advocate that in these circumstances (i.e. outside a court of law where they can restrict your freedom) beyond reasonable doubt is too high of a bar... but I think "C'monnn they must have - look at them" is slighly too low 😅
  8. not really sure what this has to do with the deposit? In theory the way it is currently is the most friendly to low-incomes, no? For people not good at budgeting, then I don't see why a payment plan couldn't be offered but then you would effectively be asking for money earlier.
  9. maybe an unpopular opinion - yeh we probably shouldn't venerate rock stars particularly from that era. but there's also a big stretch between a man writing it and talking about how he did it and "it's almost certain that Keith Richards slept with someone underage at some point". maybe they have admitted it - I honestly don't know enough richards or the rolling stones to know this or not.
  10. do find defence that you just accidently had oral sex with a 13 year old girl baffling. i mean, you can tell, right? probably more that you just didn't really care enough
  11. there is an interesting debate to be had about historical misconduct and repentance. sadly this is isn't really one of those cases - not seen any introspection or active attempts to right his wrongs on his behalf in those quotes. plus - like he's dead and we're talking about naming a tent after him ffs we're not trying to lock him up or deprive him of his livelihood.
  12. stripping away all the moral relativism, whataboutery... it's pretty cut and dry that someone on record saying that stuff probably shouldn't have a tent named after them in 2022. kindof disappointing the festival is probably gonna have to be dragged to come to this conclusion - a weird blind spot.
