  1. As always, such a great weekend, everyone im great spirits(no matter the weather), so much fun. Couple of festival highlights: The comet is coming, easily the most uplifting set of the weekend, somehow the rain made ot even better! Definitely should have headlined! Amyll & the sniffers, did a split set with sudan archives (devastated these were a clash) and really gave us all the shot of energy we were all desperate for on sunday night! The walkmen, proved they really have so much more to them than just 'the rat'....but screaming the rat so loud that a wrecked my voice was one of my fav moments. Confidence man, the perfect after dark party, wish more of the afterdark bookings were this uplifting. Oh and goat, and clipping... Actually that whole saturday night run was immense. Les savy fav, having caught a glimpse at privavera last year knew this would be entertaining, but dont think i quite how hilarious it would get. Wish they could be booked every year! Also really enjoyed in no particular order: spiritualised (first half mind-blowing/second half too slow), slowdive, floodlights, dur-dur, etran de l'air, obongjayar, lankum, horace andy, say she she, thus love, countless unknown chai wallahs bands and the classic Deptford closing party! Only downsides: wasnt overly enthused by the mountain headliners this year (or last year apart from kiwanuka). We have really missed a big headline set to unite our group rather than being spread all over site. Devo sounded good but had missed the big hitters watching slowdive, and first aid kit really arent to my taste and was just a bit drab and taylor swifty after the raw energy of amyll. Anyway, cant wait for next year, hopefully we can get tickets!
  2. Yer sorry, wasnt advocating putting them up for the whole of settlers, just thursday morning before everyone piles in. Thanks for the walk tips, heres to hoping for suitable weather now.
  3. In past years we have just taken our friends tent and put it up next to ours before the masses arrive. Usually just chilled out/wandered into Crickhowell during settlement but fancy getting out on a decent walk this time around. Anyone got any recommendations of their favourite walks that you can either do from site or within a short drive?
  4. Should have just waited an hour before asking. Has anyone seen any of the settlement acts before, nothing immediately jumping out at me, but N'famady Kouyate at my last settlement ended up being one of the highlights of the whole weekend.
  5. Anyone know when the settlement, lineup/activities are usually announced? Trying to work out which day we are heading down.
  6. Disappointed with it being self esteem, but that makes a free run for clipping and then goat if timings stay as last year! Any pointers on the other additions would be great
  7. Well done on this clashfinder, top work. Somehow the offering seems so much better laid out like this. Maybe i was a little hasty in my disappointment with the lineup, think i had just built myself up a bit too much with the possibility of certain artists playing (and a was fair few drinks in at the time). Whoever suggested clipping and crows these are both unbelievable. Anyone got any idea who the final headliner might be or wider addition suggestions?
  8. Really struggling with this one, plenty that im interested in seeing (mostly people ive seen before, spiritualized, walkmen, squid, comet, young fathers etc) but not much that is really getting me THAT excited(except goat, they are always mesmerising). Maybe the suggestion of some mega coup got my hopes up too high. Just had a cursory listen through the ones i dont know, and so many feel really bland. So far only really crows of the first listens have really grabbed me. Any suggestions of must sees would be massively appreciated. Dont want to give up too soon but can definitely feel my attention drifting to what might be on at other festivals. Always loved GM but kinda feel like it might have peaked in 2018 and lineups have felt increasingly less interesting since, obviously will have a great time regardless, but just want to feel excited by the music
  9. Oooff Orbital would be a great call, very much doubt id be watching first aid kit or boygenius (just not my vibe) but always glad of the opportunity to catch some headliners on other stages anyway. Would love iggy or suede from those suggested as possibilities, are pulp definitely not an option? Be happy with sims/loyle just saw them both several times in recent years.
  10. Sooo much less stressful than glastonbury, typically not more than 15 mins from your tent to any stage, easy to split sets when you cant decide which to watch, dont spend half your time trying to find your friends. Plenty of fun to be had after dark but all quietens down by about 4 so you actually get some sleep and feel so much better for it. Easy to get a shower too. Would fully agree on the settlement being the best way to explore the area if you have the option to, really nice way to ease you in and Crickhowell is a lovely town. Favourite thing is just getting to aimlessly explore loads of new music, without the feeling that you should be storming across to some band you already know on a distant stage. Oh and the food. And the great drinks options(trying to get through every ale at the beer hall). Great crowd too, not full of angry coked up scallys that dont even care about the musuc like glastonbury seems to be thrse days sadly.
  11. This was our first trip to primavera(WE1) , having considered going to several previous editions, and feel a little conflicted as to whether we will be returning. We went to a ton of different festivals in the UK and Europe in our 20s, but in more recent years have been more or less regulars at Glastonbury and Green man. Whilst the quality of the music offering at primavera this year was probably better (at least for us) than we had saw at any year of Glastonbury, there's just something it is lacking. We loved the gurunteed Sun, chilled days in barcelona and the people we met (definitely less idiots than glasto!), but can't help but feel that once you've bought a ticket the festival don't really care that much about catering for you. Maybe it's just us being too used to these two independent festivals, but the the food and drink offering at these (paticularly green man) are just on a different planet. Surely they could have offered something other than spirit mixers, aperol and lager/lager and lime. It just wore thin by the end of the weekend and I actually looked forward to getting back to the hotel for a nice drink. The sound at times was also just ridiculously low, meaning my wife who is pretty short coul hardly hear a thing when in a dense crowd. I can forgive the chaos of Thursday, given the nightmare they had to go through to put this on and the efforts they made to fix the issues. But overall just feel that with the lineup they put on, they just missed a trick by not putting forward the best overall festival experience. Think we will hold off from going next year, see how that goes and go from there..... After typing this out, Just saw the comments above regarding big Jeff, this whole rant now seems pointless, puts things in perspective. Hope the big man's OK, green man legend.
  12. We caught all 3, all great sets. Would have liked to have a few cheap beers but had bought really cheap tickets, (40€ for 140fv!) so we're concerned there may be issues and got in early. Saw nas a few times before, one of the best I've saw of him (other than maybe his shows with Damien marley) really got the crowd going (that had made it in by that time).
  13. In a similar situation, have dice tickets but have no Intetest in seeing the first 2 acts, would we still have a reasonable chance getting in after the music has started rather than going at doors and waiting 2/3 hours for ride to start. Completely gave up on the city shows after the chaos of sunday until tonight. On the plus side managed to grab tickets for thindercat/nas/rhcp yesterday all of which where incredible.
  14. Does anybody have any idea of what to expect from beck tonight (if we get in), similar to the set from the other day or is this going to be one of the acoustic shows?
