  1. Sorry for the off topic, I’d like to keep it brief: any underground venue for medium to small bands/primavera type of acts worth checking in New York? also club reccs would be welcome (elsewhere, nowadays?)
  2. Someone who thinks like the enemy. One of the best clashfinders made in these years imo. It will be different but exactly this painful
  3. The last two years I went to the festival at around 5/5.30 pm on average starting from the auditorium and finished at least after 4 am every night. This allows you to see around 10 acts per day if you keep a tight schedule. my friends told me it was too much for them lol
  4. Thank you! I have everything booked for Barcelona this year. I was thinking about Porto for the next year, given I’ve been to Barcelona 6 times and I’ve never visited Porto
  5. I can usually book a full Airbnb for 4 people in poble nou for 50 € per night each and my flights cost max 150 €. So festival + travel costs will be around 500€. How much would I save going to primavera Porto? The line up difference is substantial for me and wouldn’t be worth saving like 100 euros
  6. They should have booked slowdive btw. Everyone would have been happy to have them again and I don’t think it would have costed them that much. Maybe they will do bbk in a prominent slot and that’s the reason
  7. sorry, I doubled the post as a mistake.. So in order not to waste it: what do we think will be the main stage run on thursday and friday? vampire wk-->pulp-->deftones-->justice? natonal-->LDR-->(troye sivan??)-->disclosure?
  8. Agree. If I look at the thursday, for example, when we know the warehouse will host a hyperdub showcase, the other club acts I see are: herrensauna (closing cupra?), sofia kourtesis (closing the 3rd main stage/plenitude?) and that's it. EDIT: peggy gou goes to primavera, kourtesis to plenitude. On saturday there will be a hivern showcase in the warehouse according to one of the booking agents (channel one, dj fart in the lcub, woody92, phew, monolake). Sandwell district could close Plenitude, dj playero goes to cupra? There is also teki latex but he's just one more name. So i think the only 2 full club stages will be warehouse and boiler room this year.
  9. I also don’t understand why so many people state that Saturday is the weakest. Okay, it has less valid undercard (but some of those who are there are strong) but it has one of pop biggest names+ 4 solid sub-headliners
  10. could see saturday auditorium line up being: nala sinephro-->shabaka-->wolf eyes-->lankum (same time than laurie anderson last'year so heavy clashes incoming). Maybe beth gibbons is too big in that poster to be put in the auditorium? in that case-->lambchop and then who? (htrk?) friday: tirzah? lanark artefax? space afrika+rainy miller? I am missing one
  11. I am expecting something like: badbadnotgood (sunset cupra) ethel cain hopefully also playing early? The national -->jai paul + tirzah or something like that LDR --> clipse + yo la tengo or something like that chelsea wolfe possibly playing late somewhere small? disclosure -->arca/mount kimbie tratratrax closing cupra, hitech closing another stage These are quite painful clashes to me and maybe not in these combination, but they will 100% happen
  12. last year they were not early at all... john cale, laurie anderson, boris all clashing painfully
  13. To me looks better this way tbh. I am already starting to worry about clashes. Thursday: I would see deftones, beth gibbons, duster over all the headliners. Htrk, The armed, Blonde Redhead, freddie gibbs, basinksi, yeule, arab strap, billy woods, wiedgedood all interesting undercard. Friday: too packed. Clashes will be unavoidable. I would like to see both LDR and the national but I could end up skipping both. Chelsea wolfe, Jai Paul, Badbadnotgood, clipse, yo la tengo all must see for me. Tirzah, mount kimbie, arca, brutus, hitech, lanark artefax if I have time. Saturday: basically main stage-only. However, I really want to see lankum and I think I would skip everyone besides fka twigs for them.
  14. I reckon they will announce the smile, massive attack+ crossover acts with primavera so it will be painful ahah! Weird that it switched from having the same headliners than primavera to competing with it
  15. f**k Massive Attack, we don't want you here anymore 😇 Where are the good old days when a band tried to make up for a cancellation out of respect for their fans?
  16. I don’t think the death of the band member is related to this, otherwise they wouldn’t have toured at all. I agree there can be different reasons, all I am saying is that this is surprising given they clearly had the advantage of a previously canceled concert for them. Furthermore, the thing must have been in talks, otherwise the info I’ve reported would have been different (I’ve been told that if they were touring primavera would have been granted)
  17. PS is the leading festival in the area for that kind of acts, if not the whole Europe. MA are playing the weekend after. If they wanted them very bad as was the case with SZA, for example, they would have likely won them over other festivals. ofc we don’t know everything but I can’t see why MA would not want to play primavera if given what they asked for
  18. Definitely not true. Massive attack as well as the smile remain core audience material. This is not sziget, it’s a festival with a strong underground tradition and Gabi and the others are music nerds with good taste. This is the reason why we don’t have Karol g but we had Rosalia the absence of massive attack the smile and lcd soundsystem implies a change of priorities and it’s correct to discuss it here, since it might reflect future directions
  19. When did he say it? Is she the one who dropped out the day before the release ?
  20. It’s likely especially given they already had a drop out but replacements are usually not upgrades. Liturgy were added last minute and they ended up being a key act last year though
  21. Has there been a confirmation about the layout of the stages staying the same? I didn’t like the primavera/binance stage last year and its alternance with the other stage whose I forgot the name. If there are less names, maybe they went back to the old “uphill” lovely layout? seeing duster chilling on that hill at sunset would give me the old school vibes they said they were trying to recreate
  22. What do you mean? Because of no space between the acts starting with “m”?
  23. Are there any reason why a band like massive attack would drop out from this festival one day before the release of the line up while keeping the rest of the tour, months before the event (so it s planned rather than a contingency)? this is pointless speculation since either it’s this or some other festival got them but I am curious to know what the full line up would have looked like and i don’t think massive attack would have been on this tbh
  24. If it’s them just don’t book them any more. Any addition would be guided by sales so don’t take that for granted. Massive attack were not replaced in 2022 because the event was sold out. however, this won’t sell out so it’s possible
