Completely agree. Took the plunge early to save a few quid on 2 adults and 3 kids and have zero interest in any of the headliners.

Desperate lack of reggae / ska / not shouty bands. Bit gutted at the moment.

(Also an attender of many a boomtown in my time - possibly linked to our mutual disappointment)

There's a long way to go, and the last time I went in 2019, it was a great festival aside from the big hitter acts (I'm now telling myself)

The lack of ska is noticeable, and the only thing I'm clinging onto is that last year wasn't my taste in music but it was an exceptional festival.

So far I have spunge, Beans, Bar Stool Preachers, Gentleman's Dub Club and a couple of others.

I'm hardly a perfect demographic measure of all attendees, but me and my "crew" have decided to sit on our wallets and compare a more finished line up with Beautiful Days or some other smaller festivals like Deer Shed. Out of the announced headliners there is only really Dino Jr that I would pay to see if they were playing locally. A few decent acts in Woodland (I LOVE that stage) might well tip me over but at the moment...

Not sure I blame you. We got early bird tickets for the entire family. My son loves the line up but it's not a good one for me. Too many shouty bands (Amyl, Sleaford, Bob Vylan (but I'll be at this one), Wargasm, HotWax, The Meffs) and the headliners are the poorest they've been since I started going. Still hopeful that the full line up will have a more balanced feel. At least you have one headliner you like

  3. Just coming to terms with it that I won't be attending next year! It's the first year that my group have tried and failed so I can't complain too much. Missed '11 and '15 due to work commitments but never tried for tickets in those years. It's been such a major part of my life but I doubt we'll be going for the resale for a number of reasons. Not willing to put everything on hold until April, I'd find it very difficult to choose which friends to include in the 4 (there's 6 of us) and doubt we'd get all of the campervan passes needed in April.

So the run comes to an end. Bit gutted, but I know I've had my share of luck over the last 10 years.

For all those lucky enough to have tickets, have an amazing time.

That does create a great image for a cobbled together and hung over production line though.  "dining room, you guys start refreshing now"

If they'd have said Ticket day was on the 19th, I'd have celebrated my birthday another weekend. Although I'm genuinely more pissed off for those that swapped shifts, I don't think some people understand how much preparation goes into ticket day.

Lots of others who weren't available this weekend will now be able to make it though, swings and roundabouts

not the same, and you know it, we've known the rough sale date for a year, my group keep those weekends free. Then we get the date confirmed and we make sure we're not busy. You can't do that on 2 weeks notice.

Because everything was sorted for today - groups sorted, plan of action all ready for today.  Now people might want to change groups because more people have got their act together.

Also Im celebrating my birthday on the 18th - now all gonna be hungover for the 9am sale

Why do you have more of an issue with me than Glastonbury deciding to postpone 4 hours before because people who were lazy are given a chance

That's my issue too, all of my group are staying at my house on the 18th to celebrate my birthday, so rather than being spread around the country with access to different routers, we're all going to be on one. I don't fancy our chances.

Why do you care? No offence but you just try in two weeks instead. It's a minor inconvenience at most

Because people have made plans and they may not be available on the new date. Our group has the date in the diary from the moment it's announced. As it is we all have other plans for that weekend. If you're going to delay it, give more than two weeks notice. Why not have the sale in January?

  8. Completely underwhelmed, although last years line up was the weakest one (for my tastes) of the seven I've attended and I had the best time. Saying that, there are only 4 that are of interest on the poster and I've seen all of those many times. My explorations this afternoon also drew a big fat blank.

hes definitely blown up .... think he was originally down to play a small venue but offers likely to have come in for a bigger stage . Not the biggest fan myself but in both my watts app groups hes been a bit of a discussion point with several very keen and probably one of the most mentioned artists over the last 12 months . Hope he sorts the health stuff out and those that like him get to see him on a suitably sized stage on the farm

iirc he was down for Left field, it was announced just after I'd discovered him, via this forum. And whilst I've listened to him loads on Spotify and watched YouTube videos, never seen the need to like him on FB.

I definitely go for the vibe and always have done - I just also want to know what is on!! Makes it easier to plan when you are going to try and get involved in the story stuff.

I feel the same, although giving it a miss this year. Always discovered some amazing acts at Boomtown but no new ones last year which I attributed to the line up falling just a week before, not enough time to research. I hope they find a balance, lots of my mates are also swerving this year, although not all of them, and waiting to see whether the new investors have a positive / negative influence on the festival. The decision was made easier by getting Glastonbury tickets this year but as mid-August approaches I'm beginning to get FOMO. Looking forward to the reviews afterwards and the lineup drop on Friday.

  11. My mates

    The amazing weather

Yusuf / Cat - not sure as a legend that it will be surpassed

    Random conversations with strangers

    Elton

The sun streaming through the trees in Strummerville whilst Lottery Winners and Hak Baker played

Strolling home at dawn on Friday from the Stone Circle and seeing hundreds of people pouring out off the SE Corner with smiles on their faces

    The volunteers

Meeting an 8 year old who is wiser in the ways of Glastonbury (after 2 visits to the farm) then a load of my mates who have been multiple times. At times it was like listening to the veterans on here.

The sheer joy of watching Oh my God it's the Church on Sensation Seekers

Not meeting a single bell end all week

  12. Recent reads that I can recommend are 'Ska'd for Life' by Horace Painter - covering the Specials until they broke up - loved this. Shows the difference between touring now and then.

Also, 'Before we was we' - the Madness early days

Just about to start 'Me' by Elton John, had it for years but only just starting it

Very harsh that interview and to call The 1975 a mediocre band is a piss take when they have won a ton of Brits and are on a successful tour with 5* reviews. Yeah Matty can be a dick but he ain't racist. Can't wait to have the 75 confirmed for next year after falling asleep watching the god damm awful Arctic Monkeys and their boring lead singer a few weeks ago.

Fully agree about the Sheffield arse wipe, but the 1975 front man is just plain creepy. Music is very mediocre and dull

Or maybe because they're one of the biggest bands in the world that is still selling out stadiums? Arctic Monkeys just released 2 dead albums and Coldplay are MUCH bigger.

plus Chris Martin has more charisma in his big toe than that joke of a front man Turner. At least Coldplay provide a show and want to be there.

    My backpack.

What's this? Another beer? Don't mind if I do.

I'm with you, my new cooler bag came into its own this year.

It's slightly annoying that the crew bars seem to get a better variety of beer than the ones open to the public
