  1. Hi, I volunteer for Oxfam and have taken tents to put up for family/friends. As mentioned, anything put up before gates are opened to the public will be taken down and removed from site, but after gates open is fine. Just depends on shift timings - a Weds am shift would make it difficult as eg the Oxfam Weds early shift starts 6am and wouldn't finish till 2pm, so likely earliest you could put tent up is 2.30 pm. But if not working that morning should be no problem other than effort of putting up 5 tents!

Fab to see so much success today - well done all those that made it and the rest will get there, keep checking. Efests crew take over the Oxfield! Monday night meet up will be nearly as big as the Weds one.

For "dead" time on shifts, learn a new skill! Juggling is popular, small musical instrument like a ukulele, try to team up with someone to speak in a second language only for half hour (this is actually quite hard to do!). There's all sorts going on - shift is as dead or as interesting as you want to make it. I quite like the down time if it is dry and there is shade, conserve my head space for later......

I did 2000 trees last year and it was easily the most chilled and accepting gig by far. The festival is great, the crowd/vibe amazing, and from an Oxfam perspective you only had two shifts, daytime, car parking. The Oxfam crew were very welcoming and friendly, and everything is about 5 mins walk away, max 10 mins. That might of course change this year as I understand Oxfam has taken on additional duties, but I can't imagine it would be anything too taxing.
  5. Sandwiches are available - at least they are in Bristol College Green - £2.50

I was sad reading about your Oxfam experiences, that is not at all how it is meant to be and must have made the whole thing extremely challenging and not much fun for you 😞 I am not sure what went wrong - did you follow up with them? I would make contact and ask some questions as to why the pre agreed adjustments weren't implemented!! I have had a very different experience of dealing with the Oxfam accessibility team - I am partially deaf and have associated balance problems (no fire towers for me!). I do several festivals each year and a person from the team contacted me before the season started to make sure they understood my requirements (based on what I had included on the initial application) and then they sent me the notes they were intending to add to my records for my approval before they went ahead. I don't think the shift supervisors see the records, they just have RA noted against your name on the shift sheet, so they are aware that adjustments are in place but not necessarily why. The supervisor usually just checks that everything is OK before we get started - but they mostly do that for all their team anyway. So when it works, it works very well but clearly sometimes it doesn't work the way it should which is not OK. I can completely understand why you think their accessibility provision is far from amazing after two negative experiences! If you haven't completely lost faith, give it another try because it can be and should be a fun and safe way for people with disabilities to enjoy festivals.

For Oxfam campaigning at Glastonbury, also bear in mind that you will have to sign up to campaign at another festival, minimum two. Whilst the application window is open, ie up to 1 March (?), I don't think you will be able to apply for any stewarding roles at the same festival, so you will potentially miss out on any stewarding roles that may come up until applications have been decided (not sure how long that takes after cut off date). There are limited places available. The campaign role is hard work, but shifts are finished by early evening each day, usually by 6pm, although I think you may be able to finish early if you have reached your daily target? It is excellent for people who can easily go up to strangers and passionately engage them in whatever the climate pledge is this year, you will need to know your stuff!! Not for the faint hearted, not an easy route into Glastonbury. I have never applied but have been very impressed by the passion and energy if those that do this role.

That makes sense. There is a 7 day cooling off period when you can cancel without paying any fees. I know a few people, and have seen others mentioned on FB, where only one partner in a couple or only one person in a group of friends was successful yesterday, so they may opt out early on if they don't think they will pick up more places later.
  9. Coleman 3 person black out tent down to £160 as one of amazons Black Friday deals. Quite spacious living area, reasonable height for this type of tent, relative to footprint. Not tried this one so no idea how these blackout tents compare to fresh & black, but I have been happily using Coleman tents for many years so will give it a try. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-Unisex-Chimney-Rock-Green/dp/B0798PXMJC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3PUNHK28MDF33&keywords=coleman+chimney+rock+3+plus+tent&qid=1669243450&sprefix=coleman+chimney%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-1
  10. In the main campervan area but further up, at the top end.

Pre-festival shifts here too 🙂 Would love an efests/crew meet up to put some faces to names.
  13. Helloooo, *waves*. Sorry, I did sign up when I got back but couldn't work out how to post the pics so I gave up. Then I got side tracked with Reading fest. Pretty poor show, I know. It was really great to meet some of you at the BDs meet, first time I have delurked to say hello, but have followed the forum for some time. It was totally a chance meeting and was due to recognizing Crazyfool and his hat from this forum - he is an efest ambassador! I bumped into Crazyfool again at Little Big Top on the Sunday, and also not worthy. I am already planning and looking forward to a run of festivals next summer, so hoping to put more faces to names in the future xx
