  1. There's a more up to date version of this somewhere, with different times for different weather conditions etc, but this is a handy rough guide:
  2. Can I ask, out of genuine curiosity and ignorance, why we're focused on GFS and not ECMWF?
  3. Similar first timer question to the above - which other areas in the SE Corner have limited capacity? I assume the Temple does? What are the queues like?
  4. Nothing in the bottom half? Sort of like an indie Winnie the Pooh?
  5. I forgot to mention Midland in my stupidly long post. He plays house but a bit of disco thrown in...I think. On the disco/House note, any chance of a secret set from Daphni? He's already at the festival for starters
  6. I'm giving it another 3-4 days before I start to become optimistic/pessimistic. Which begs the question, how often is it healthy to check this thread?

    Secret sets 2022

I'm sticking by my War on Drugs prediction, but has anyone mentioned LCD Soundsystem? They have a big GSH. Also...we know at least one member of Hot Chip will be at the festival, and the rest of the band also have a GSH
  8. Great tip on Sedef Adasi!
  9. I'm in a similar position - I really want to see Overmono and Avalon Emerson up in Silver Hayes after Macca, but there's an annoying gap, and there's much more depth of stuff on in Shangri La, which obvs goes on later. If I'm in SH and I don't like, or if I want to carry on after 3am (likely) then I'll have to traipse the full site, then back again to my campsite. Re: the gap between FloPo and Joy O, I'd say OK Williams will be well worth seeing, and Yung Sing is interesting
  10. So, I've invested in a Vango Comfort 10cm single...its just arrived and even though I'd read the measurements, it's ludicrously big packed. Convince me I shouldn't send it back and it'll be the best £80 I've ever spent.
  11. To look on the bright side - Glastonbury has TOO MUCH I want to see, so a few cancellations wouldn't be the worst thing ever. Also, Junction 2 just got cancelled, so any acts who might've picked up covid there are now in the clear. Genuinely curious to know how 'back-up' artists work though. Aside from those already at the festival, Glastonbury always seems to be able to have someone to step up if any big names cancel. Any have idea how this works? Presumably bands aren't told to be on stand-by!
  12. So, let's say it rains for a lot of the festival, and the few days beforehand. As a first timer, I'd like to know how bad that makes it? (I've seen all the pictures of 97 et al, obvs). I guess what I'm really hoping for is a bit of positivity. If you've got a good poncho, wellies, sealskinz socks, is it still really really awful?
  13. What do the Sticklinch emails say? Mine is getting delivered to the other half and she apparently has to do this thing called "work" today so I don't get to see it till later...

    Secret sets 2022

Hahaha. Seems I've been found out. If only I had 10,000 comments under my belt, then I'd be trustworthy. (Weirdly one of my 60 comments was knowledge of a Green Man artist last year). Anyway, as I said that's the extent of my knowledge, but the stage organiser who told me was pretty drunk, and it was over a month ago.

That's the extent of my knowledge I'm afraid (and things may have changed). As I said, Park and Peel would be unlikely for him. Perhaps the Greenpeace?

    Secret sets 2022

I've been fairly reliably informed that a former member of a boy band, turned actor/solo artist, whose name rhymes with Barry Piles, is a confirmed secret act. Would be surprised if this was Park or Peel (my money is on War on Drugs for one of those)
  17. Given Glasto isn't a big payday, I'd be surprised to see Dixon showing up to do only an hour (plus his schedule has him in the UK 18th, then Barcelona 19th), so logistically a bit weird. But...happy to be proved wrong! Amelie Lens does still have a GSH after Junction 2 the weekend before.
  18. Any thoughts on why there's a half hour gap between Optimo and Avalon Emerson? I'm keen to see her, but this means a half hour gap, with not much else happening nearby, when I could be watching all manner of great stuff in Shangri-La/Arcadia?
  19. I'm not super familiar with the Ben Bohmer world, but Camelphat might be up your street?
  20. Ah, Haai's album release and live debut totally passed me by! You take your first holiday in two years and this is what happens. Next you'll be telling me Thom and Jonny have teamed up with one of my favourite drummers and released an album...
  21. I'm 99% certain all Haai's performances will be dj sets. She used to be in a band, but as an electronic artist I'm not aware of her having done anything other than dj (which she is very very good at). She has got an album coming out and is, I think, working on a live setup, so there's an outside chance she might partly trial it for one of her Glasto slots. She's basically my neighbour so I'll ask her the next time I see her in the Co-op. (She does play a fair amount of her own stuff in her dj sets though if that's any consolation).
  22. OK, here's a post with a whole heap of random info on the electronic artists I like that are playing. Apologies for the ramble. Also apologies if I've misgendered anyone here, I wasn't thinking at all. Of the artists that play more of a classic house sound, (aside from those mentioned), I would include: John Digweed (an absolute legend of the genre, super skilled, and one to really settle into for a few hours), Call Super, Patrick Topping, Midland, Palms Trax, Louise Chen, Grainger (sometimes), Solomun, plus the Sairose/Moxie/Peach/Shanti combo. I would say your chances of something being more "housey" are increased if you pop into the stages during the day (house is officially a more "daytime" sound than techno) Other people I would suggest seeing: Talaboman (a duo - John Talabot is outstanding, and plays a sort of slow-motion psychadelic house/techno, but teamed up with Axel Boman, as here, he gets a bit more party party). Honey Dijon - should be super fun. Dixon - consistently tops "best DJ" polls, and with reason. I've seen him a few times and he's always unbelievably good. More towards techno, but usually super interesting selections, and very melodic. Elkka - check out her Essential Mix from last year (though she may be playing live, not djing) Erol Alkan - in terms of technique, he's an awful DJ, but it'll be wall to wall tunes. I've seen him play Radiohead, in a club. Daniel Avery - Full on techno, done very very well. Haai - Eclectic, psychedelic, largely techno. She's a personal favourite - debut album is out next week I think. Ross from Friends - His Tread album is phenomenal, a bit Bicep, a bit Burial, a bit breakbeat. Listen to it, see him live, but also watch him DJ (which I expect to be a bit more housey). Optimo - House/Techno legends from north of the border. Not afraid to play Madonna either. Floating Points - jazz influenced, but bits of Aphex Twin too. Hard to describe or even introduce someone to. Maybe Spotify has an introductory playlist. If he's djing, I wouldn't know what to expect - I've seen him basically do a disco set. Or:la - could be house, could be techno. Will likely be pretty straightforward but solid and not disjointed. OK Williams - Keen to see her, as she has "next big thing" written all over her. Joy Orbison - Last album won awards and shit, but I don't fully get him, and might be quite breakbeaty. Yung Sing - Keen to see him for the atmosphere - have a watch of his Boiler Room which basically starts a riot. Bonobo - basically Four Tet. Overmono - bit breakbeaty, but some lovely melodies a bit like Bicep, and some unusual time signatures. I think they may have a live AV thing too. Folamour - some cool rhythms, pretty housey, and also has an AV show, so well worth checking out I'd say. Toshiki Ohta - super eclectic. expect some Turkish disco alongside your bleeps and bloops. Leon Vynehall - dark, melodic, occasionally breakbeaty rythmns, wouldn't know what to expect if he's djing though! Job Jobse - housey, psychedelic, what you'd imagine playing as the sun comes up Giant Swan - they don't really fit in with what I think you're likely to enjoy, but I didn't think I'd like them, then saw them live and was blown away. Really stressful, high intensity stuff, featuring live sampling of hardcore-style singing. Highly recommend popping in for 15 minutes to have your face melted. Their DJ set might be pretty weird too. Last but not least, Avalon Emerson - One of my "must sees" of the weekend - Joy Orbison, Yung Sing, Solomun, Bonobo, Toshiki Ohta, Leon Vynehall, Giant Swan, Sherelle, Sairose, Job Jobse.
