  1. Yeah after hours is on youtube and festivals Britannia was on there but I think the BBC took it down cause of copywriter and all that stuff. Could still be available to watch somewhere though.
  2. They are not what they were. I spent too much of Spring and Summer 2007 watching videos of them playing in the 90s, and ended up slightly underwhelmed by their Leeds Fest appearance that year.

BUT they weren't helped by having Nine Inch Nails performing one of my top 5 all time sets just before them, and my unrealistic expectations of what a 21st century Smashing Pumpkins are.

Still good, and I would love them to appear. :)

  3. Do people think Arcade Fire have 2 hours of quality material?

I like them(ish) but can;t really see them getting a reaction from anymore than 4-5 tunes.

  4. Pretty slim I think because they've said the new album won't be ready until the end of next year. I can only see them playing very small shows next year to test out the material (which they did at the weekend).

  5. Its ok, I will accept your apology in August.

I said the relentless stage would become a normal stage, meaning the empty area will become the area instead of a big open space of nothing for the past 8 years. That new empty space is the "25% more space" where the dance tent will be.

A simple sorry or I was wrong will be enough.

  6. Y'see, this really makes sense for Leeds. Make the Relentless Pyramid area a part of the arena, put an even bigger DJ stage there, have it run 6pm-4am or something, with big name headliners at 10pm, put a bar there, make some money....

But by the sounds of it none of that could happen at Reading. Shame, because the Leeds atmosphere is really good now with the late night partying. (sorry to keep going on about it Readingers, but it's great)

  7. Oh man, SIX years since I saw Pearl Jam at Leeds 2006?! What a show.

I thought with it being their first festival show since Roskilde they'd start off slow, but no, they played "Go" first (after a quick hello and plea for safety), blowing all apprehension away.

In fact, I've just dug up the official bootleg of the show "If you're ready we're ready..." Goosebumps listening to that.

  8. I used to be one of those annoying people who would moan at people for not seeing the band I said they had to go and watch.

I have come to accept that not everybody wants to see the saviours of modern music and the best live act out there, Arcade Fire. wink.pngwink.png

Seriously though, they could headline (and I'd love it), but I'd rather they played 2nd or headlined Other then not play at all.

What's scary to me is that by my count they already have 14 live staples that I can't imagine an AF gig without, and then they have their 4th album coming out soon! Hate to think what might be left out!

  9. I'm not even that big a fan of Arcade Fire, but have to concede that they're pretty hot stuff live. Stuff that on record that doesn't really do much for me gains a whole new momentum and liveliness.

Yes - it's all a bit self-consciously epic in the U2 vein and a little THE BIG MUSIC, but.....it works.

  10. I adore Arcade Fire. I love them so much.

But it took a while for them to click with me. I watched them for a few songs at Leeds 07 then wandered off. But when they headlined in 2010 something magical happened. It's the enegery and emotion they put into their shows that grabs you. They grabbed me then and have never let go!

I'm not sure if they're gonna be booked as headliners or not, but I know they could pull it off.

  11. Talked to one of the head white-jacket security people Monday morning. About how bad it was on the last night when I first went in 2005, with Stuart Security, and how it has steadily improved since then.

"It feels like we've got it right now doesn't it? Best atmosphere I've seen here."

I agreed, just felt like most of the ****heads had gone, and we were left with a load of happy people wanting to have a good time. I've read people saying otherwise, but they seem to be the exception.

Was gonna make that my last Leeds, but gonna find a way to go to both Glasto and Leeds next year.

  12. This was my 8th Leeds in a row, and it's challenging for top spot.

I don't know, it was just a mix of so many good things coming together, I don't know if I've been happier in my entire life.

Just one of the highlights: sitting on orange hill for the last half an hour of Piccadilly at 5.30 Sunday morning next to someone in a monkey onesie I'd been dancing with for 4 hours straight, with some other friends too.

On a more mundane matter, the organisation was really great.

  13. http:///s/leeds12/

    For Leeds.

Green Day are definitely playing at 12.30 in the NME/R1 Stage on the Saturday at Reading.

Foo Fighters would probably have 3 hours at Leeds too, if our curfew was 11.30, but everyone else would get squashed up too much as it is.

They are known to come on early when they can, so we might still get 2 hours 45 mins :)
