  1. Mike Skinner worked but he did just play some Streets songs didn’t he (I was blitzed not sure exactly what happened)?
  2. Shangri La or Strummerville on the Thursday still in play.
  3. I mean yeah, of all the criticisms of Fred Again the idea he doesn’t promote emerging artists in his work is… an interesting one!

Football shirts are pricey to make but £80 OTT. I was considering buying one if they were £60 given the Glasto 2023 stuff on them - and they’ve sold (not just been listed) for £180 on ebay. Mental. @gfa - who generally seems to make v good points - is right re his scarcity factor. Think his trajectory will be fascinating to watch. If he continues to make genuinely innovative (in the mainstream sense) music then it’s a wee bit unpredictable. He’s a class act live and on record. Tho suspect the haters/backlash are going to ramp up at an increasingly pace.

  6. Yeah but we're talking about the options available after people have bought tickets, the tickets presumably would't come with the obligation to 'glamp'. The same number of wealthy people would still have tickets, they'd just be camping off site!
  7. This makes a tonne of sense, if glamping demand currently outstrips supply and - maybe bigger if - the space is available off site. Win win for everyone!
  8. Given I assume that glamping demand outstrips supply at the minute, this makes a tonne of sense (if it’s possible!). win win for everyone involved!
  9. Yes, impossible to see any unintended consequences or negative effects from bringing in regulations into the freest music festival in the UK/world on flags, which would then need to be enforced in packed crowds..
  10. Interesting that people are saying pissing on the land is a problem, and it didn’t used to be. As exactly the opposite is true: the chatter nearly a decade ago was that urine on the land was a license threat, and it isn’t so much of a pressing issue any more judging by festival comms. Great that one of the overall messages was that 2023 was a great year. It was in my book. The place has a life of its own.

She’s in the vicinity of the festival - quite possibly for a reason. Her odds of playing have shortened not lengthened and anything else is massively overthinking it. Was booked for the Sunday previous IIRC.
  12. Mick Lynch not out of the question? There is the additional Tolpuddle stuff this year around Woodsies.. There may just not be one though I suppose. Zelensky on the Other (!) before Libertines felt a wee bit under-appreciated as a thing last year tbh
  13. No NIA Archives/Skindred clash! Result!

Aha, agreed! 🙂Tho, to segue us back, he might have to say one way or the other at some point if he plans on headlining the Pyramid!

Yeah. Latest YouGov poll of London (March 2023) found 67% of voters aged 25-49 saying they would vote Labour, and 11% Conservative. Among, 18-24s it’s 75-7%. I imagine ‘working in the music industry’ and ‘being bezzie mates with Brian Eno and Four Tet’ might skew that a bit further! https://docs.cdn.yougov.com/b700t580da/Internal_LondonVI_230405_W.pdf But anyway, in danger of veering wildly off topic..

I think there's been a wee bit of a misunderstanding on the UK Crown thing: looks like his dad is a KC (i.e. King's Counsel). That just means you're a very senior barrister or solicitor, it doesn't mean you have any familial links etc to the Royal Family. Very much doubt he's a Tory given his demographic profile TBH! (Skrillex is a Jordan Petersen fan though!).

    Thread Again

Think what's missing here is that Fred Again is exactly the type of artist who is likely to enjoy a symbiotic relationship with Glastonbury - him talking up the magnitude of it and probably amplifying different parts of the festival this year with secret sets on his bl**dy Instagram (which is the type of thing people on here tend to say 'they gets the festival, etc etc' about when others do it), and it in turn boosting his profile. As chat in other threads today have said, this is what will continue to propel the festival in some sense. Which isn't to say he will headline, but it could be part of the narrative arc at some point if he continues to produce the goods. The comparisons to Calvin Harris are also a bit off cause he really is quite good. Other Stage gonna be a party!
