I've made (another) lineup for a hypothetical festival using the DL template to rival Download and R/L. Generally takes bands that are too "goff" for Nu-Reading and bands that get shunned by the Download metulz elitists. Slam Dunk/2000trees on a bigger budget. Main stage is full of modern bands/artists (formed after 1990) that still has loads of young fans. You won't be seeing the likes of Def Leppard or Aerosmith here. The "Legends" Stage is solely rock/metal. Something for older audiences or if they think acts like Yungblud or MGK are shit. More flexible with how "old" they can go. The Insurgent Stage is basically "the rest". Indie, drum and bass, industrial, hip hop etc. Unless they're huge, they'd be on this stage.

It really does. But I bet the organisers book safe bands just not to piss off the "Off to Bloodstock then" crowd.

What if for 2023 they pulled a Reading and had six headliners? Would we get six actual headline-level bands or would there be a few sub-level bands marketed as "headliners". Eg: Main Stage 1: SOAD/Metallica/MCR Main Stage 2 (really just Zippo but larger): Alice Cooper/The Offspring/FFDP

I made a festival lineup using the Download template... I don't know what kind of audience it would attract but it seems more an alternative to Reading than Download. What do you think?

Never been R/L but I'd go (solo) for MCR if they played there again. In 2011 I was still 'new' to live music so I stuck to my own city. Then two years later they broke up. Still, i'd much prefer them at Download. Geographical convenience.

I'm not so sure about having six headliners. I know Reading did it this year but it kinda cheapens the whole 'band headlined a major festival' moment when in reality they're co-headlining.. Especially if they've never headlined another major festival before. Having said that, it could work if the layout was like Sonisphere. Both stages are roughly the same size, but the "South" stage has smaller bands (though potentially bigger than what you'd get on the Zippo stage) and finishes earlier than the main headliner on the North. And the "chill" stage in a tent focused on indie pop. Been thinking about this for a couple of years now. Download seems to cater to the Bloodstock/dad crowd, whereas Reading are moving in a V Fest direction. I made these a while back as a hypothetical "in between" festival for Download and Reading. Slam Dunk/2000Trees but bigger.

I like them but not enough to pull me away from While She Sleeps.
