My thoughts on the album: I really love the overall themes of generational trauma/guilt & shedding the "saviour" label. He's really personal here, telling us stuff like cheating on Whitney, the cousin suing him, and having writers block for 2 years. Even though I don't think it's great all the way through musically, there are so many stand outs. Father Time, Mother I sober, Mirror, N95, Silent Hill, Mr Morale. I think there are some difficult questions to be asked with the use of the f-slur in Auntie Diaries. One on hand, yes the message is great, and the use of the slur makes the impact of the last lines more poignant, and you could argue that is similar to a film or tv show where actors might use slurs. But on the other hand, a lot of LGBT people have called him out for the use, and it's not right to dismiss the valid concerns- in music, you are more likely to have people sing along, you listen to it way more than how often someone watches visual media. I'm not too sure what to think about it, as a straight guy it was an impactful song for me. Regardless, I can't wait for Glasto. I think there is a strong chance we will see some tap dancers. Baby Keem and Tanna Leone seem likely to guest. Would also love to have a final black hippy reunion as Mr Morale his last album on TDE. All eyes on Milan!

I think Biggie is an incredible storyteller, and "I got a story to tell" and "notorious thugs" are perfect songs, but there is a bit of fluff. Diddy whispering all over it is so annoying. Completely agree with the Jay Z picks, I'd put Reasonable Doubt there too.

Carter II and III are better than IV, I can concede Life After Death being classic but I don't feel like it is
-
I don't really think he needs another classic, biggie only has one. 2Pac only has one or two (me against the world is the best pac album!!!) and they're in the GOAT conversation. Good Kid and TPAB cemented his status for me, everything else is just a bonus. Wu Tang are icons with only one classic (if you don't include the solo stuff). Lil Wayne is up there for his feature and mixtape run, and you can argue has no classic albums, just a very consistent run of classic verses. Guess it's more about impact than anything else really

Mos Def/Yasiin Bey just postponed his London gig for the second time, he would be worse than a Lauryn Hill booking

After re-listening to them all, I believe the ranking is: Heart pt 3, 5, 4, 2, 1

Last verse is in the perspective of Nipsey Hussle it seems, a lovely tribute

Thanks! I'm on "Going Postal" now (just picking up whatever they have in the library, I saw that you don't really need to read them all in order).

Absolutely lost it at the ants in my eyes conversation, the priest guy seeing a naked Yossarian on a tree and thinking it was an angel of some sort and him being accused of stealing a tomato. Just could not wrap my head around the insane amount of new characters being introduced at every chapter. Great book though.

Also I would like to say, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion are 100% hip hop.

I would love to see more hip hop at the fest and I don't think Glasto needs to approach the same type of hip hop as Wireless does. I think Wireless tends to avoid legacy acts, underground "backpacker" rap, and anything that's a bit leftfield. I think with the absence of Lovebox, there was a really opportunity to swallow up those type of rap bookings. Artists like Tierra Whack, IAMDBB, the Griselda lot, the Slums lot (MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt, Navy Blue etc), High Focus records (Jam Baxter, Leaf dog etc), Vince Staples etc. I don't think it's a massive issue though, we already have a very solid selection of acts, just wanted a handful more. Maybe they will still come as more lineups come out

Not sure on this one, most UK number 1s here are of UK rap/drill and grime artists. Nines, Headie One, Fredo, Russ Millions, Steflon Don, Lady Leshurr, Little Simz do very good numbers and draw decent crowds here. Dave's Starlight, that Aitch and Ashanti song and Russ Millions chart pretty well here. Kodak Black, Lil Baby and Gunna who do very well in the US I don't think really chart much here at all.
-
+ ArrDee They should've got someone from the High Focus label, some UK Drill and some Grime but I'm not sure if they'd draw a decent Glasto crowd
-
This might be a big ask but can we breakdown what each acts do? ArrDee, Berywn, Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Kenny Allstar, Kojey Radical, Potter Payper are rap/grime/drill or close to it
-
I didn't even notice Berwyn, nice!

We should celebrate Grime. A small stage or area that's modelled around Pirate Radio, with loads of small/indie MC's performing cyphers/sets and various DJ's. They could even broadcast it as a second a radio station. 20 years since Grime's inception, would be fun.
