  1. My and my groups first time going, I was so excited in the build up, up until I was almost at the entrance when my trolly broke. But that was the only downside. Tbh even that wasn't too bad, as it was only the steering that was effected.

Kendrick was incredible, audibly gasped when the torches came on during N95. Little Simz was excellent, Olivia Rodrigo really surprised me, had some great late night fun at floating points, shygirl and some random DJ's.

I never ended up spending much time at the Park so I'd like to for 2023.

Given the number of people involved, I would expect there was quite a lot of social media chatter beforehand which may have alerted them.

Quite a sad situation. I cannot bear to even go onto the Daily Fail website to see how they're reporting it.

I had never heard of him before, so had his album on this morning. Quite enjoyed it. Certainly could see a decent WH slot for him.

Yeah his album is great, it's sad that this is how most people are getting to know him- he's a new artist who definitely did not anticipate how big he had gotten when he announced the shows too. Selling out 3 days in Brixton off your debut album and you're not even a native? Huge.

Maybe over-gassed by the music industry in general, I can see that.  Doesn't seem to be considered for anything that high profile at other festivals either.  Is Kendrick Lamar particularly radio friendly?  Even with lots of lists rating him as album of the year, and he's actually headlined Glastonbury, I'm still pretty ignorant with regards to his music.  Presumably I'm listening to the wrong radio stations 🙂  Looking at album sales "The album [Sometimes I Might Be Introvert] debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart, becoming her highest charting album and first top forty. The album was the biggest selling album in independent record shops the week of its release" - which sounds pretty weak and answers my own question.  Without looking I assume Kendrick is shifting astronomical numbers in comparison to that...

Kendrick has shifted like 400k first week sales in the past (although that's probably more US), headlined Coachella, featured on songs with Taylor Swift, Drake, Beyonce etc, did a Marvel movie soundtrack and more. His most recent album wasn't massive but was still way bigger than Simz. Simz defo needs a couple of UK number one's before being considered. Dave is ahead of her in terms of rap acts I'd say. She's got a great live show, incredible albums but just needs more hits

  5. I'd love to see some DJ's get love, espeically JYOTI. I know Kenny Allstar curated a day in silver hayes and had a lot of cool uk rap, wouldn't mind seeing that again.

Also went quite under the radar, but Riz Ahmed did a set this year, and he rarely does shows. A big get imo.

Jeshi released a very cool album this year, I'd love to see him.

Shygirl at 3am or whatever on IICON was incredible, wouldn't mind seeing her again.

My wishlist is: Griselda, TDE (Ab-soul, Isaiah), JID, Smino, noname, bree runway, MIKE, Navy Blue, Madlib DJ set, NxWorries, Freddie Gibbs, Kenny Beats DJ set, & JME Grime MC FM

Watching Wu-Tang and individual members live is like being in an abusive relationship, mostly always awful but keep going back anyway!

Just had an IG advert for this. googled it and it is on Eventim so probably due to be properly announced very shortly. pretty big gig for the guy

London will always show up for Burna and Wizkid, there's a very strong afrobeats/afrofusion scene here. Wizkid was the first African artist to sell out the o2 I'm pretty sure

RIP "Take-off" from Migos. Co-headlined Wireless in 2021. Shot dead, according to reports

RIP, had some very good verses and helped popularise the "triplet flow" which took over rap from like 2016. Great talent gone too soon.

Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, Ice Cube would all be welcome as a Fri night headliner

Maybe not ice cube, didn't he post a bunch of weird anti semitic tweets during lockdown?

Side note I'm watching series 3 of Atlanta ATM..don't want to spoil anything so will just say I saw the episode with a famous actor playing himself and talking about racism and things he's said. Was crazy!

that season was so wild, so many very difficult themes about race (ep 9 made me feel v uncomfortable!). I enjoyed it a lot, it was very challenging. Wish there was more Vann tho!
