also difficult to understand is your omission of shankley and paisley or even dalglish. for your original question easy to understand its cos he managed liverpool, and fans of other clubs can't be as magnanimous.
He didn't omit Paisley. He did omit Busby though, which is unforgivable! 🙂

Best lineup of all the stages announced so far imo. If I had a ticket I'd be spending half of my time at Avalon. Shame the BBC don't televise it.

Finally got my copy of Waxahatchee - Tigers Blood delivered, after the first was lost in transit (thanks to rough trade for sending a replacement).
Album of the year so far by a country mile for me! It will take one hell of an album to displace it.

Did it just the once in 2000. In my defence, I was homeless and jobless at the time, so couldn't afford to pay. Everyone was doing it that year anyway!

All tickets should only be sold to social media influencers and bucket list people. Anyone who has been a few times before should be automatically struck off their list.

I haven't got a ticket this year but I'm going to make sure I smash my TV in just before. That way I can be certain that I can't accidentally watch any of that sh*t.

I think there could be a lot in this. James and Elbow are surely almost certain to be there, but probably aren’t helpful in projecting a young diverse lineup.
Guy Garvey was on Sunday brunch & said Elbow weren't playing this year but he would be there as a punter.
Of course, he could have been lying! 🙂

Steve Harley. So sad, a few of his songs mean a lot to me and Mrs c. Memories of times long gone by. Seen him live so many times.
I've been laid up with the flu for a few days, so I somehow missed this tragic news. I saw him on Avalon at my last Glastonbury in 2017. As a kid I loved Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel more than Bowie and Bolan. Having a listen to him now with a glass or two of rum & shedding a tear.

The Hold Steady last night in Campden Electric Ballroom - fantastic as usual - I genuinely don't think there's a better live band on the planet.
Having said that, I didn't think the sound in the Ballroom was as good as usual. Didn't stop me absolutely loving it though.

Billy Bragg x 4:
Leftfield (obvs)
Pyramid
Acoustic
Toad Hall
Actually 5 if you include the brief appearance on Park with the tribute to Jo Cox.

Echo & the Bunnymen tonight at Gloucester Guildhall. 8th time I've seen them & it will definitely be the last! Played for 25 minutes, then f**ked off for 20 minutes. Eventually came back on & Mac mumbled incoherently for 5 minutes between each song. When they actually played they were alright. Shame as they used to be one of the best live bands around.

Watched the first 4 episodes of Mr and Mrs Smith, both leads great and some great cameos thus far.
Watched all of season 4 of True Detective and devoured each new episode as it appeared. Cracking cast, incredibly atmospheric setting and location and great story - brilliant.
I know it's only February, but if there's a better TV show than True Detective: Night Country this year I'll be amazed! Fantastic.

No, just Saturday. Are you doing the 3?
No, just the Friday. I was potless when the tickets came out & by the time I had money, the Friday was all that was left. Just as well as it turned out as it's my grandson's first birthday party on the Saturday & I couldn't miss that - not even for The Hold Steady!

Are you going to all 3 nights?

I like the new Idles - not sure I love it yet - maybe after a few more listens? Pretty sure I'm never gonna love it as much as 'Joy' though.
The new Grandaddy though - absolutely gorgeous. A bit one-paced, but I bloody love it!
-
Only the 3 at the moment:-
Echo & the Bunnymen - 2 weeks today.
The Hold Steady - 3 weeks time.
End Of The Road festival - end of August
-
If that clashfinder is close to right, I'm going to have the hardest choices I've ever had in 16 EOTR's :-
NewDad / Bonnie Prince Billy
Slowdive / Sleater Kinney
Gruff Rhys / Lisa O'Neill
Camera Obscura / Sprints
Idles / Lankum
f**k me, it's over 6 months away & I'm having panic attacks! 😃
-
Finally got round to listening to NewDad & Sprints - both excellent.

Do we have to be respectful of Tory politicians on this thread? If so, I'm out! 😉

It's all just getting a little snarky in here. Play nice everyone. We're all going to have fun at a fantastic festival.
Exactly this. I actually quite like it if there's a day when there's no headliner I want to see - I can wander through the enchanted woods, enjoy some of the great food & drink, sit by the fire & chat to fellow festival goers. It won't be the case this year though - I'm spoilt for choice with the headliners!
Apologies to everyone if I came across as snarky - I've been given a sh*t job to do at work & I'm in a bad mood!

Mate, don't make it personal. They are well within their rights to express frustration that a band that, I assume, is one of their faves is getting a bit of a pile-on.
Actually, although I may have come across as the ultimate Idles fanboy - I've only ever seen them at EOTR & wouldn't pay to see them on their own tour. I just got annoyed with people saying "what a great lineup, but why the f**k are Idles there."

Note to anyone on here. Punksnotdead has made it clear that any debate will not be tolerated, we should be grateful for whatever bands we are given including the headliners and we must all fall in line with his views.
I have no issue with people saying they don't like an act. What I do have an issue with is people saying "they shouldn't have been booked ", which a few people have.
-
Ffs, it's just one act out of over 100 acts announced!
There's a few acts announced that I have zero interest in seeing - same as every single year. I don't come on here to "express disappointment " just 'cos I don't like them! It's pathetic.
Curate your own festival if you want to love every single act on the bill.

FWIW as an ex United fan (ex because of the Glazers), I hate Klopp - but I accept he's a brilliant manager, regardless of how many titles he's won. I hate him even more for turning United down & going to Anfield.
