  1. Really enjoyed the run this morning around the site, the weather and the site were both resplendent (if it's the same next June that'll be grand).  As a 10K its a great course and fairly challenging with the hills.  As a Glasto veteran I immensely enjoyed seeing the site in all it's naked glory, even if my 10km time suffered so much from stopping to take some pictures and take it all in.  I am sure it was made all the finer for having got tickets for next years festival in the sale, not sure how my mood would have been if we hadn't!

Thanks for organising.  I hope to be back next year!

  2. Got friends who stay at Wicket Ground every year, bags of room.  Depending on how old your bairns are there is also a smaller field at the bottom of wicket aimed for those with older kids/teenagers.  Wicket ground is right next door to the John Peel Stage and probably about a 30 minute walk (traffic dependent) to the Kids Field.

  3. After a suspect rupture of my cruciate ligament (again) about a month ago I thought I wouldn't be able to make it.  But I ran 8km last night without issue (running should be mainly fine with an ACL injury).  I've even managed to get my missus to sign up for the 5km race, we'll be coming from Kent and staying fairly local Saturday evening so hoping the B&B has a fairly decent Internet connection for t-day :-)

Looking forward to the event and hopefully will be running around the site with a smile on my face.

  4. Bit of a bummer this, but me and the Mrs are staying local for the run, so should be good to go hell for leather for tickets in my running clobber before heading to the start line.  Tickets will be gone by 09:30 right? (Hopefully mine will be in the bag before then).  Just hope the b&b has wifi now.

The Long House is the nearest B&B. Otherwise any of the other B&Bs in the village are nice as far as I know.

If you don't want Pilton then Shepton Mallett is 2  miles away. The Highwayman has rooms - basic but clean as far as I am aware.

Not heard about a meet. Sadly I shall be doing the set up/take down so won't be free before or after the run. I'll see you at the start/finish line though in a high viz.

Thanks very much, I'll look into them.  I'll make sure to look out for you on the day.  I'll be the one looking like Boris Becker!

  6. Really looking forward to coming down for the run in October.  Can anyone recommend a decent B&B in the vicinity?  Also is anyone going to arrange an efest meet-up for a beer pre or post run?

  7. Another thumbs up for Rodney Brannigan from me.  Always leave his shows blown away.  First time I saw him we was escaping the rain into the tent where he came on to play (3 years ago I think).  Everyone was downright miserable in the tent before he came on.  By the end everyone was up dancing and slightly euphoric.

  8. For me having to leave Saturday morning last year due to a family emergency.  Worst bit was waking up all my pals, saying my goodbyes followed closely by spending the next ten hours travelling by train from Somerset to North Wales and then back to Kent via Birmingham.  All of which left me nearly a couple of hundred quid lighter.  Walked in doors around 10pm sat down shattered, stuck the TV on to be presented with bloody Kanye West.  Will not go down as my happiest day.

Muse are playing arenas probably because stadiums aren't available during March/April/May.

all of Coldplay's european gigs are during the summer when the football season has ended.

AFAIK Muse have some big 360degree stage show too, which probably works a lot better indoors rather than outdoors in a big wet stadium in Spring, much like U2's recent tour in the Autumn was multiple nights indoors rather than chancing October weather in a stadium with their A/V setup.

so I wouldn't read a huge amount into them playing arenas. they're still blatantly big festival headliner status.

Maybe they'll be playing the bandstand in the market then.

  10. My sympathies to anyone who didn't get tickets this morning; that happened to me last year and I'm familiar with the horrible sinking feeling you get when you see it's sold out.

Reason for posting this is to say that I still got to Glastonbury 2015 - we got tickets in the coach resale and tens of thousands of others did too.

I know it's horrible not knowing, but just don't want people thinking that's it. It isn't.

Same for us last year, missed out in October but got tickets in the resale.  Just got six months of agony to put up with. :-(
