There are ticket competitions being run by:

    Co-op (pre existing)

    Vodafone (pre existing)

    Guardian (pre existing)

    Brothers (pre existing)

Tony's Chocolenly / oxfam (pre existing but relatively new)

    chillys (new)

    barbour (new)

    Hunter wellies (new)

    White Claw Hard Seltzer (new)

It also seems these tie ups are resulting in far more tickets being available in competitions, as Vodafone have pver 100 pairs and the Chillys comps are giving out six at a time.

The main issue is probably also that the new ones are with companies which seem marketed at a certain demograaaaphic.

I think the barbour 1 was tickets + an upcycled jacket in colab with Oxfam or something, rather than just a barbour thing

Mine was the latter experience, great looking place but the focus was clearly not on making nice cocktails.

By comparison the ones in Latino they didn't do anything clever - had a finite selection pre-mixed, so they could serve a big queue quickly and they were delicious

Is it still peacocktails in Latino? They're the same company as cockatoo so mostly have the same cocktails

Avalon and Silver Hayes tend to be the earlier ones I believe, had a quick look at The Thingy and that appears to be the case anyway.

They'll look at the photos of the people who haven't paid their balance yet to decide if they should drop Avalon or SH 😂

I hear Right Said Fred are quite opinionated these days so get them on the Rightfield tent.  Blasting out Deeply Dippy would be a special festival moment.

...and what's with all this push to fill the place with girl bands?  Every bloke knows there's been no decent music from any chick since The Reynolds Girls aced it with "I'd Rather Jack" in 1989.

    F*cks sake.

As a female, I agree. I have ovaries and no musical talent, so why are girls being booked? Glasto was better when it was a wall-to-wall sausage fest.

any tips for festivals with dyslexia?? Im forever turning up to places at the wrong time for sets. i find the timings so confusing.

I think you can get notifications from the official app to remind you when something's on. I haven't used them, but could be easier than trying to read the set times

Big Weekend isn't a festival though and it's not like they will be doing a full headline show. VW were overlooked in place of Little Simz or Burna Boy. That's kind what I mean if they had booked LCD, Little Simz or Burna Boy and VW it would be fine. Or booked VW to headlined the Other stage to give VW, Disclosure and The National. My feeling is they would want to Pyramid sub and Emily didn't.

Emily overlooked vampire weekend because she wanted more dIvErSiTy, or because they took the $$$ to be a festival exclusive at primavera?

  7. People saying Pulp have no new music, but I don't think that's important for a "heritage" headliner. Nobody went to last year's Saturday headliner* hoping to hear some new tunes.

I'm not saying Pulp should headline, but I think they could with the right balance of other headliners (ie don't put them, Blur and Radiohead on the same year).

    * I'm not naming them here because I don't want to summon a particular person to rant about them all over this thread.

...two Pyramid subs slots in Little Simz and Burna Boy being similar...that's not festival healthy....that's picking them because she wants to over day one of those and a different act.

    Are you saying Little Simz

    and Burna Boy

Are you sure? The way I remember it is it started raining as our coach entered Somerset and was pissing it down by the time we got to the site, and then didn't really stop raining right through to the Monday morning.

I don't blame you for doubting me because I generally have a terrible memory! Most years at glasto I've just been with my OH, sometimes with 1-2 friends, but there were 7 of us in '07 which makes it easier for me to differentiate that year.

There might've been some rain on the wed/thur but I don't think it was problematic until the fri.

This was the cinema field on the Thurs night, and people are sat on the floor. My friends wanted to see Ghostbusters, and when I pointed out it was followed by Blues Brothers they had no idea what I was talking about. Philistines 😂

  10. The 1 benefit 2007 had over 2016 was the wed and thur were dry so you could sit & chill. 2016 even if there was less rain during the festival, the ground was already f**ked before we got there. Also I was younger in '07 so could probably cope better 😂

Good weather (not too hot or wet) is more important than lineup IMHO.

So many acts with albums out and touring that are missing... Sprints, St. Vincent, Elbow, Vampire Weekend, Ibibio Sound Machine, Nadine Shah, Everything Everything, The Smile, Brittany Howard, Villagers... to name but a few, some of which always are a hit at Glastonbury (Elbow, Vampire). It's a bit odd.

6Music promote all these bands and alternative music and then they feel absent.

I'm so lucky to be going and still lots to see and the festival is so much more than the main stages, so it's all good. But weak headliners for me, Shania Twain is baffling to me... who next Michael Bolton? Curtis Stigers? Celine Dion? Coldplay feels very lazy.

Dua Lipa and SZA i guess i'm just too old for them to be on my radar, but it does feel very pop.

Anyhoo... i'll still be cracking open a beer on Wednesday 26th June full of excitement. Will just be exploring other places.

Although me and the 3 other people who were at St Vincent a couple of years ago would probably be happy to see her back, I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't a big fan.

Anyway, there's still loads to be announced.

I only ever watch Glastonbury on the TV but it’s one of my favourite weekends of the year. I genuinely look forward to it so much and make a full weekend of it.

I really like this lineup. There’s loads on there I’d want to see. Really love to see Little Simz in a slot like that. I can’t wait to watch that set. Also really looking forward to seeing both IDLES and Disclosure headlining Other. Loads lower down I love too.

Seen a few people claiming they're going to put their tickets back in the pot, maybe you should give the resale a try?

Although watching it at home does make it easier to deal with the clashes 😂

Interesting that they've basically given us the lineup for people at home watching on TV.

No Acoustic, Dance Village, Avalon etc.

Pretty sure that's always the case with the 1st poster

The SZA rumour has been going for a few days now and I have not seen a single person stating whether their mum has heard of her or not. (Mine hasn’t)

Standards around here really have slipped.

My mum has moved beyond radio 2 and now listens to absolute 60s. It's probably a positive that glasto are booking headliners she's never heard of.

Well, it’s not a secret pop illuminati but she went to BRIT school and she won a lot of BRIT awards… just like Adele, Amy Winehouse and Jessie J!

    It’s probably just a coincidence 😂😂

I suppose if someone is talented/dedicated enough to get into brit school they've probably got a bit of an advantage!

There's something about the recent uptick in Raye hype, particularly with the BRITs wins, that doesn't sit right with me. Not to go all tin hat but I've been wondering if part of it is a ploy to artificially boost her popularity in an attempt to create another international British superstar at a time when there's a dearth of them.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think is artificially boosting her popularity? Is there some secret pop illuminati controlling the hype?

  17. Host: Thanks Emily for that fascinating talk on women in the music industry. Now, do we have any questions from the audience?

A dozen middle-aged men in efest t shirts: When's the lineup out? Why did Stevie fall through? Are Kings of Leon playing the churnups slot? Why don't you get Nick Cave to headline the pyramid?...

    😂
