  1. Yeah, whatever you think of the acts personally, Bilbao BBKs Headline is one of the objectively weakest they had in years. Underworld and the Prodigy are headline acts you book if you can't find other headline acts, Grace Jones ist very cool but veery niche and Jungle will have to prove they are ready for the step up to headline level. Arcade Fire, whilst supposedly still a great live act, haven't released anything that was really well received in 10 years and their status has suffered from half-empty venues on tour, will leaving and wins controversy. Apart from Massive Attack there is no band that would be an out-of-the-question headline act. And while you can question Pulps Status as Major-Fest Headliner, most of the headline level bands at PS this year woud be headline level almost anywhere.
  2. This could also just mean Lana only brings half her Entourage which frees about 2k spots on the grounds
  3. This makes little sense. The Lana Day performing well was foreseeable. They did not have to "shift capacity" to Friday by cutting down weekend passes, they closed the sales on friday early to encourage people to buy them quickly and also sell some Weekend passes to those that came too late and then reopened them a while later which creates even more incentive in people who "missed out". Its a common sales strategy nowadays and PS has employed it before. Its basically done with every bigger act now, splitting tickets into tranches over different time slots or through a bazillion different pre-sales. Creates a contant impression of shortage of tickets so people are bullied into buying. Also, you simply would not need to "shift capacity, modern booking systems will optimize that by themselves using projected sales, if one of your days heavily outsold the weekend passes. This rests on a false logic. New Order (or any other late addition) were never booked as a reaction to sales-performance, but the contracts had been closed way before the line-up announcement, as with all other bigger acts (these are sometimes done 2-3 years in advance!). It was simply held back for marketing reasons on the bands side. Late additions also hardly ever boost sales, the majority of tickets to be sold has already been sold by this time (with the exception of some day tickets) and many people typically will have made other plans already. Also the cost of spontaneously visiting a fest (unless you're a local) is much more expensive than booking stuff in November. Festivals thus avoid big bands they can only announce late because of the bad cost/benefit ratio. In the case of PS however, adding a band like New Order fortifies their status as a unique fest and pleases the audience that already bought tickets. Thats why significant late additions are the exception, not the rule. Overall it has to be sad that its impressive that PS was able to sell out anything, giving how horrible the state of the industry is.
  4. Nice depth to it, but what were they thinking booking John Maus? Explosions in the Sky is a great booking, they seem to be only doing this and Arctangent so far
  5. Twigs still has not dropped out, I don't think we need to discuss replacements... Mountain Goats would benefit from a seated venue, wouldn't they?
  6. Don't think its a Zeitgeist issue. Anohni is an artists that i wouldn't expect to turn up at festivals anymore. I saw her on the last tour and the entire show rested on the intimacy of a philharmonic hall.
  7. I just don't see why they would've held back on that. I still do not think there are gonna be any more additions that are notable in size, just a few replacements for the usual dropouts.
  8. Yeah its a bit early to call that. But the fact that her album was binned gives no real proper reason for a one-off show. However, there might just be dates lined up in the near future that PS kicks off. Often gigs at Coachella or Primavera is spearheading a larger campaign for new music and/or a tour
  9. That Royel Otis Debut is absolutely fire. Sounds like Phoenix' best days mixed with some 60s Swagger and Modern Lovers.
  10. Its not yet clear if there will bey day tickets available, last year they had been available since December. If they become available (absolutely possible, they probably just wanna extend Ed Sheerans pull to the other days as long as possible) they will be expensive though. Last years daily tickets were 119€, with the general increase in prices and a much bigger headline (Ayliva is absolutely huge in Germany) I'd expect them to be up to 150€
  11. Many of the artists that the people here favour, just won't be booked anymore at German, Swiss and Austrian fests (anymore). Its much cheaper to go with the usual german-language bands and some radio-pop acts like Macklemore and at least the German audiences are somewhat ignorant. Hence the large number of solo-shows, albeit many of them will only find their way to Berlin and Vienna
  12. Someone order Sleaford Mods on Wish?
  13. Yeah it just gets very tiring reading the same unfounded criticism over and over again. If there is one thing wrong with this board its that people base their arguments on absolutely absurd expectations and then complain if they aren't fulfilled. Like sure, The Smile and Massive Attack are missing, but are you going to complain about Vampire Weekend, Pulp, The National and Beth Gibbons missing from Northside, who has the former? It is in the nature of festivals that they cannot book everything and if you'd personally liked other acts, go to another fest.
  14. Abstract Concrete Angelica Garcia Ariox Armand Hammer Chica Gang Cranes Daniela Pes Dave P Desire Fat Dog Irreversible Entanglements JJUUJJUU John Francis Flynn Johnny Jewel Les Savy Fav Mabe Fratti Maustetytöt JD Twitch Rozi Plain Sandra Monfort SoFTT Sweeping Promises The Chameleons The Dare The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis The Mountain Goats TIEMEI Tristan! Xebi SF are exclusively at Ciutat KuTo, Lara91k and Las Petunias don't have website entries yet. There seems to bre a DJ called lara91k, but the other two i can't find anything about. Gives me "Society Fun Lie" Vibes I'll have to reverse my original verdict about this being weak. There is a lot od depth and quality in this. Many of the acts are better placed in clubs than open air stages I reckon. Depending on the programming of each night, I'll give it a go. Chameleons - Abstract Concrete - Cranes would be a great legends evening
  15. Nah, the names gotta be longer Interestingly enough, Bar italia arren‘t in this
  16. This is quite weak as expected. Nothing that‘ll get me moving on Monday. Tuesday maybe the Mountain Goats. Sunday is good, but i won‘t habe the strength for it lol for some reason I read The Chameleons as The Chainsmokers. That makes much more sense and is actually a great addition
  17. While in theory this makes sense, in practice most festivals have to shuffle til last minute before announcing the set times. You are dealing with tour routings of 150+ acts, each with their own stage setting, spread across 12 or so stages. It is simply impossible to put that together three months in advance and again, I know of no festival that does (excluding DJ heavy fests, because stage setups and travel play less of a role here). And before the internet (tm) you got the set times for most fests when you showed up
  18. yeah but afaik they have individual teams for planning each stage, except the main stages. That makes it somewhat easier to put a programm together.
  19. I don't know of any festival that would handle it differently, maximum i've seen was like one month, except at fests that have only one or two stages. At this point, Ciutat can only disappoint. I wouldn't have had any expectations for it, if it were announced anywhere close to the festival, but with more than two months delay, a handful of acts the size of bar italia will just not do the trick.
  20. Might also just be a handful of bands whose tours are not announced yet.
  21. To be fair this is not as bad as the other US fests, but Coachella had much stronger years. Its rather hard for me to judge the rather large impact of Reggaeton and Latin Trap acts, because I have no way of saying anything about their quality but it is simply underwhelming in other aspects. No surprise like Jai Paul last year and No Doubt isn't exactly the Reunion I personally was waiting for. Also, the headliners just are not on the level of 2023, judging by size, even if I personally would prefer Lana and Tyler
  22. He was the second biggest name in the third bracket of acts in 2019. I only expect acts from the lowest bracket to be added, apart from replacements for cancellations
  23. But this is simply not how booking works. Artists don't tick off countries on a tour but put together shows dependent on several factors. And sometimes, countries miss out. Especially the ones like Spain, which are further off the usual London - Paris - Amsterdam - Berlin rotation. If there was an obvious gap, it could indicate a Spanish fest, but if there is none, it might just as well simply mean noc Spanish dates.
